Once another storm blew in to our full band / outdoor set, we were forced to find an indoor area to keep tracking.
Fortunately there’s a beautiful, old church in the ghost town portion of Terlingua, TX. We set up two condenser mics & started filming/recording with one, continuous, live take.
If there was ever a songwriter worth covering, it’s Townes Van Zandt… and this is my favorite song he ever wrote.

I don’t know how I have never heard of you guys before Yellowstone. You guys are awesome and you have found a fan that is going to stick around for a long long time.
This is what's missing in today's music. There is so much heart in the way you guys play
Jason Isbell, Tyler Childers, Ryan Bingham the late Justin Townes Earle, Turnpike Troubadours, Arlo McKinley to name a few.
Shane, I hope you guys get the massive amounts of recognition you all deserve. I remember hearing "The End" for the first time almost two years ago- that song still ignites a dream in my mind every time I hear it. Keep that golden voice singing as long as you can- means the world to a lot of us.

It’s the song…not the way we all heard it. Nothing against the Willie Merle version but there’s so much to this song that’s not typically heard in the lyrics. Go listen to Townes sing it. Good job boys!

Towns van Zant wrote this beautiful song he was a true American hero that not many had the chance to know died way to soon
