- Dr. Bekker caused Dr. Rhode's father's death, but the administration seems to suspect Dr. Rhodes. When they learn the insulin overdose contains traceable amounts of chromium, Dr. Bekker takes her own life.
Season 5 Episode 1 " Never Going back to Normal"
Following the car accident, Dr. Manning suffers a traumatic head injury and Dr. Halstead blames himself. Trauma surgeon Dr. Crockett Marcel and Dr. Halstead are suspicious of Phillip when he claims he and Natalie are engaged and tries to order Dr. Halstead away from her care and life. Dr. Rhodes believes Meanwhile, Dr. Choi and April deal with a pregnancy scare while treating a young patient who may be going blind and Maggie confronts her cancer diagnosis. Dr. Charles cuts his honeymoon short to treat a patient with potential schizophrenia. Unable to get over what happened, Dr. Rhodes resigns and leaves Chicago after saying goodbye to Goodwin and Dr. Latham---who admits he's accepted Dr. Rhodes as a friend.

Welp, their characters are still alive in the universe as far as I’m aware so they could probably bring them back easily if they wanted to.
2 yrs later and I still won’t forgive the writers for dropping Dr Rhodes. Dr Rhodes was my favorite doc out of everyone in med now I watch med because of Halstead and Choi

the impressive thing about Dr. Latham's quote i dont want my friend to go is that he has aspergers meaning he has trouble seeing and experiencing emotions so the fact that a surgeon that he trained said goodbye as a friend hit us all really hard
I might correct you on something since I have aspergers myself. Yes we have trouble seeing emotion but that doesn't mean we can't. Also we actually experience emotions a lot more deeply than people realise. Don't make the mistake that just because people with aspergers don't show a lot of emotion, that doesn't mean we can see or feel it.

It's more the struggle of identifying and dealing with emotions rather than experiencing them. Common mistake that's made alot so dont worry. I hope you pursue your hope of going into psychology!
The Correct term was Autistic. With Empati loss. Empati is the frontal lope in your head that makes you see emotions in other peoples expressions and faces. has nothing to do with aspergers.
Dr Lathem is so chill and straight forward, and it broke me heart when he said "i dont want my friend to go"

She was a sociopath.
Well, she was a psychopath and she had been walking on a slippery slope for a very long time. She was going to kill his father sooner or later and then she got caught. That's why she killed herself.
As much as I HATED that Connor left, I understand why. Med held 2 many painful memories - Robin, his father, then Ava. You can only go thru so much b4 u associate said place negatively & a new start (which is what Robin did when she needed space 2 recover) is exactly what I think Connor needed as well in order 2 move forward & not b stuck in that negative headspace. It’s sad, but it’s what had to happen 😞
Aww this is literally heartbreaking, Connor was my favourite character on the show, and I really hope he does come back some time in the future!

Writers really screwed the pooch with Bekker. She was meant to be a friendly and competitive rival to Rhodes but they made her a psycho for some reason.

I miss him very much. The character was very close to my heart, Colin is an excellent actor. A bitter loss. He is simply missing. 😪🥺

after watching almost all of the seasons, i really started to like dr bekker and hers and dr rhodes' relationship was so cute-its such a shame that it ended this way. i don't think she was necessarily a psychopath however its clear that she needed some help. maybe abandonment issues???

I think they should get robin back because she is a epidemiologist ( a doctor who works with viruses and epidemics) to help with the pandemic since med could use any help they can get and it turns out her and Connor have been working in the same hospital the whole time so they both decide to come back to Chicago to help med with the pandemic and there they reunite with dr Charles and meet Anna for the first time and help Anna go through her parents divorce and everything because if there is anyone to help anna it’s Connor and robin since they both come from messed up family backgrounds and know how it feels especially robin since anna is going through exactly what she went through and maybe Connor could reunite with Latham, will and Ethan.
I wasn’t happy that we didn’t see him have moments with the rest of the characters. When a character leaves that’s the best/heartbreaking scene.
I just got round to this episode last night, and my god this completely shocked me. I thought she was going to stab Connor or something. I'm wondering if Ava had this planned out all along, or if she just did it at the last minute because she knew she was going to get caught. Either way, it was a very sad episode.
Ava was emotionally unstable, that was why this whole thing happened.
I thought she was trying to frame him for killing her tbh - she wanted control. I also thought she'd dose that baby he saved with insulin to get back at him.

The table has lost 2 legs already, it still can stand, but doubt it can anymore if it was to lose any other leg.
Not sure why you compare the show to a table. And maybe to you that they’re the most important characters that make the show and that’s fine but not everybody else. I agree with Dr. Charles and Dr. Rhodes and I did like Sarah and that sucked. FYI spoiler alert Dr. Choi leaves. But if Dr. Charles ever left, I don’t know if I would continue watching. I love this Psychiatry aspect of the show and what he does with it

I hated where they went with her character. She had so much potential and to go the crazy doctor root was just so weird and out of character. Not to mention this led to Dr.Rhodes leaving Med.
Honestly, this episode really shocked me I was not expecting her to do what she did. No, I will fully admit I am not a doctor or have no medical training except for first aid class and CPR certification but let me just say that them going and immediately starting surgery on her chest made absolutely no sense. It would’ve made more sense for them to try and get control of the bleed in her neck because that is the most pressing issue with her injuries her neck is literally sliced open and she’s bleeding out opening up her chest probably wouldn’t have done anything they should’ve probably clamped artery first. yes that would’ve cup of blood supply to the brain but it would’ve kept her alive and then they work on the chest if they have to but honestly with an injury like this, I don’t even understand why they’re working on the chest.

Ava cut her carotid that would hurt like hell and take a lot of effort. She could have cut her jugular instead but she chose to cut her carotid. Cutting the carotid would immediately limit blood flow to her brain and kill her as efficiently as possible. Honestly I just think she needed some help.
Connor didn't have to leave like that😭😭 and doctor Lathem saying "I don't want my friend to go" was just - ughhhhh😭 Connor was such good guy why did they have to make him leave

hospitals have security cameras inside so isn't it possible if Rhodes told the police that they would have looked at the cameras and saw the Bekker went into the room before his death? and rhodes not being in the hospital at the time points to it not being him

Wow two cardio thoracic fellows leaving Dr Latham in one night. That hospital is is big trouble. Not like Cardio-thoracic surgeons fellows are a dime a dozen. Ruins the whole program if one fellow leaves even with a three month warning. Two gone in one night without 48 hour notice is a nightmare.
