Oh Baylee. I love her so very much!! She is hands down my favorite of all your characters, and I would love so much to have this digital illustration in my kitchen. She makes me so happy. I bake, so I relate to her. I feel a calmness looking at her. Oddly enough it made me feel a little emotional. Lol Bravo!
I thought your comment was “lol the thumbnail said my bed art yeet” so I went to check the thumbnail and was disappointed to find yet even though I completely overlooked you comment 😂 🤣
Thats a good tip but I notice with a lot of cartoony characters their palms are supposed to be the same shade. Im not sure though thats how some styles are
You should also keep in mind that it really just depends on the person, and some darker toned people have palms the same color as their skin, Signed, a darker skin person
honestly baylee as a black girl im SO HAPPY you drew a black girl and that shes your best work! im happy you drawing her made you happy and it brings joy to me :)
I must say, this was one my most favourite videos I have watched on this channel in a while...don’t get me wrong, I always enjoy your videos but this one in particular felt the most authentic. I have been a fan and follower of yours for 4 years and I so appreciate you sharing your creative journey with the world. Thank you Baylee ❤️ Xo Stephen
What I love most about this is how excited you are about it, so happy you are happy with it. Yesterday you couldn't wait to show it in chat to us in the stream. :) Can't wait to see what you do when you start the oil painting. I love how warm it turned out. Sort of like that feeling you get when you're enjoying comfort food. (Just ignore me).
its so warm and pretty! I love the final outcome! :) I hate those days where you can't get the sketch right! Its so annoying! 😭 you managed to get it on point though
You kept going and made it work. It amazes me when creative people seem to question that what they’re making isn’t that good. We all should be happy with what we create. As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is your art, and you shouldn’t let other people’s negativity bring you down or make you question if it’s good enough. You go girl....
I’m just confused as to how you’re going to translate this into oils...the colouring style and lines make it look like a marker illustration, as oils are very blend-y and soft, where as this has so many hard edges. I get that you’re trying to be unconventional, but it’s going to be tough! Even acrylics would work, your previous paintings show that. But with oils, it’s pretty hard to get flat, even colour, since you normally work in thinned out layers. Even if you use one thick, gloopy layer, you’d never be able to get those outlines. Also, with regards to getting bright colours, if you use the technique called glazing, you can get amazing saturation! Just look up late renaissance oil paintings: their colours are so vibrant. Best of luck!
Ron Weasley dude she literally even thanked me for the tips. She’s an amazing artist but as she even said, is new to the medium. I was just trying to help/share some of my own knowledge with oils. I have had weekly painting classes for 3 years on acrylic vs oils, painting alla prima, different mediums, underpainting, painting from life and so on. I’m busy writing an art history thesis on the way various artists have used oils through out time. I know a little something. Not trying to be a smart ass. Let’s keep things positive.
this is so beautiful. I love the colours and just everything about it. GREAT job!! the preview on stream was so much darker but seeing the whole thing now... just wow! can't wait to see the full thing!
this is definitely one of ur best! not only composition wise but really the fluidity tho subtle is better from previous works of yours. i can really feel her soft smile and the surrounding “clutter” really helps it feel like a cozy homely environment! and the colors are just insanely pretty i cant wait to see more
This was relaxing to watch. And hearing you talk about the piece as it unfolds really brought it to life for me. I Look forward to seeing your finished canvas painting.
I really enjoyed you explaining the process and your thoughts and decisions. And I’m in love with the painting. The character’s warmth really come through especially with her eyes. Even though it’s cartoonish, it still feels 3D/realistic because of the lighting and the focus being in the middle ground vs everything being in focus. I’m excited to see the oil painting.
This is definitely my favorite piece of art that you've done! The composition is simple but concise, the girls expression is sooo nice, the colors and the elements of the picture all together....it's sooo good. I hope the painting goes well for you, and I'm excited to see the process!
This is by far my favorite art piece you've ever made! It's simply gorgeous and the richness and warmth is amazing! This would make such a beautiful print! ❤️✨
I love how this has turned out and can't wait to see you turn this awesome digital sketch into an oil painting! Kudos to you, it sounds impossible. I also think this is my favourite art piece that I've seen you do, love the colour, composition and subject matter. i really hope that you let us see the sped up painting (I know they take a long time).
Honestly super in love with this art! I like that it's not 100% polished, it feels very genuine and I get a really strong emotional reaction to it! Can't wait to see how it turns out as an oil painting :)
@@Oliver-js7it Ok then I just don't see the use of some of them like 🌝 like WT Frick is that supposed to be like "Hey I'm a moon" I don't understand ik it's art but like still WT Frick
I do agree that this is technically one of your best pieces. Not only that, but it’s also my favorite pieces so far! I really love the vibe it’s giving. The expression also is very lively and sweet. There’s motion, there’s liveliness, there’s coziness. I just love it. Keep it up Baylee! Always loving your art.
I must say, the choice of colours and additional elements really bring to life this piece. Even your concept sketches felt much looser than before. Keep up the amazing arts, can't wait to see concept flushed out in oil!
I agree with you, this art is so beatiful! I'm in love with it! The facial expression of the girl is just emotional, she seems to really love bake cupcakes. I think her expression is so tender and lovely... It's my favorite art so far. I'm happy for see you getting better and better with your drawings.
I really like how you show this kind of process to art making. I used to always feel self conscious over how long it would take me to make something, or the amount of gunky sketches I had to go through before finding something decent, or nothing at all. Most artists' just skip showing this part of the process.
Doing the type of outlines you are going for, with oils is kind of rough. I mean you 100% can do it, but it is just one of those things that you kind of have to ask, this kind of illustration is really just more designed for digital/markers/or just more dry mediums, even to paint I would say its more suited for water color than oil, so WHY try to work against something to get the look you want, when you can get the look you want much easier in a different medium. People do work that is not realism with oils, i do. But baylees work is very focused on line work and clean lines, where oil is much looser and more about shape than line. Again you CAN do whatever its just like, why try to make paint look like a pen when you can just use a pen? If she does go for the same type of outlines I think it’s important that it really is more of a final step, in marker illustration she starts with line but for oils i really recommend not doing that
Baylee this is GORGEOUS!! I love it so much. I can't wait to see the finished oil painting. It will be interesting to see how the two differ from each other (digital vs oil) when it's the exact same subject matter. Ahh. I hope you continue to do digital plans for your future oils. I find it really fascinating to see this planning stage. Good luck with Fan Expo! x
I thought I had already commented on this but I think it was the Instagram picture I commented on. I think you should go forward with the idea of a more animated type painting. I wanted to add this note: remember that digital art especially on the screen is transmuted light and traditional art on paper or canvas is reflected light so the colors will be substantially different even if they have the same chroma/shade values.
Beautifully done! I did a bit of painting in high school and one technique I think you might like to try is glazing. You add a little bit of gloss medium to your paint, it thins the paint out a little bit and adds transparency when you lay down the colors (and of course add a bit of a gloss shine to it). I feel like it might help you keep your outlines for your character so you don’t lose them when you add more layers. You’re obviously free to do whatever you wish, and I’m sure the painting is going to turn out amazing!
