This is a awesome idea Mark I'm definitely going to be trying this I'll be getting a trx4 soon and I'll add the bl2s system when people ask about the system in the trx4 I'll say it was marks idea 😊
I did that to a Summit. I purchased it for my son- in - Law used. I changed the brushed over to brushless. I didn't use a Traxas motor and ESC for the same reason, reverse motor. It runs well. I did have to replace the rear transmission because it blew out. I found it full of sand from the previous owner. I will not be changing my TRX4 Bronco to brushless simply because it is a crawler and that is all I use it for.
I swapped my trx 4 with the brushed motors you’d find in the slashes. It went a lot faster but only lasts a half hour and motor is cooked! Brushless is the way to go.
I actually thought of doing this when my trx-4's esc went out but didn't do it because when I wanted to do it, Traxxas did not release it at the time. Now seeing this video I might just do it. It seems like a really good idea. It seems like a good idea because you don't have to worry about the brushed motor locking up.
I have a castle copperhead 10 setup with the castle 3200kv motor in my trx4 high trail. It’s fast but also a sensored setup so I can go extremely slow. Plus I can plug it in and change settings anytime I feel I need to right from my phone. I really can’t complain about it at all, it’s a great setup for crawling.
I run a Castle that can do 4S @ 2280kV sensored... it'll flip the truck from a standstill. It's fun to hoon around on dirt with the scale looks. But I usually run it on 3S because 4S is just ridiculous.
@majesty2699 is right, you cant run 3s on the bl2s system however i did edit out a part of the original video where i said “I cant wait to see this on 3s”…. Hahaha
Thats freaking awesome! I think I'll stick with my Castle Creations setup for my true crawlers though. I love cramming "incompatible" electronics into my rig 😅 Just threw my Arrma Typhon 3s electronics into my Element Zuul trail truck to see what happens once my pinions arrive!
Hey Mark. Good video but I'm not sure about the way you calibrated That speed control. if actually it's getting full throttle or not. If i'm not mistaken reverse speed as a little slower than full speed. I'm just not sure the way you Calibrated the radio by pushing reverse instead of forward and forward instead of reversed if that actually truly gave you full power.
He doesn’t mention the fact that, while it does have plenty of torque in the low-range, it isn’t going to have as much low-range control as a sensored brushless system, or even the stock brushed system.
Rip out BL2S, install drag slash esc and motor, lower it, drag tires, find an F150 body, and call it the F-1 Smoke'ems as a reference to Cletus and run it back.
Hopefully Traxxas will drop a brushless trx system off this video! Mark you can use that body as your basher body and get that sweet blue one for your shelf body 😁
You can get a Hobbywing max 10 g2 80amp combo for 130 bucks what are traxxas thinking with that price 😆 I guess it’s the classic traxxas thing of taking something and upping the price😂
Hi mark Can you answer this question with a video… why are the trx4 m sooo hard to find in retail shops around the world 🌍… I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 and it’s impossible to find them anywhere.. what’s the deal man…
Does it still go from forward to brake when you push the trigger forward from fully squeezed. If so might use this combo in a Traxxas mid motor 2wd car
@@MarkSantaMaria it's definitely a decent trail set up. Truck looks hella fun 🤩 ! I just think the people should know that you may be giving up the crawling potential of the stock brushed motor. These rigs stock are super capable on the rocks, mud & creek bank. Thanks for the reply
Traxxas will do this and brand it as a new rc car. and bet it will be cheaper to buy the truck and the bl-2s and install it yourself then to buy it as one from traxxas
Use your double-sided tape on the mounting plate, then mount the esc to that.
Thought about that but the mounting plate is also on flat on the bottom and it wont fit in the spot for the trx4
TRX4 is just the best daily driver, from the basic bare bones no options Sport to the detail galore of the Bronco!
This is a awesome idea Mark I'm definitely going to be trying this I'll be getting a trx4 soon and I'll add the bl2s system when people ask about the system in the trx4 I'll say it was marks idea 😊
Lol… make sure they like and subscribe… hahaha
I just put the brass wheel weights on my TRX4-m this morning. Looking forward to more traction in tonights crawling!
I have a vxl 3s in a trx4.....but I use it for sled/tractor pulling
Dude! That K5 is SICK!!!!!!
The squarebody. ❤❤❤
Looks good. My only problem is I have like one 2s battery and a ton of 3s😅

Awesome Saturday night viewing 😂🎉
I did this and i was able to reverse the motor with the link app. Tune it there and you have the best crawler-trail truck ever created
It’d be a good way to turn a trx4 into a rock racer, reminding me of that old 4x4 Evolution game back on the ps2
7:50 very cool
Really hope you update us on its crawling functionality after the brushless install! Im on the fence with this swap on my crawler.
BL-2 system & its simple tx can be shoehorned to anything smaller & brushed . Big truck did good Cool.
I know a few guys in my local crawler group who would definitely put this in their trx4s.
I put in a cal motor in my trx4 bronco it’s so much fun
I swapped my trx 4 with the brushed motors you’d find in the slashes. It went a lot faster but only lasts a half hour and motor is cooked! Brushless is the way to go.
Traxxas should make all Future TRX4 with this system and Offer a trade-in upgrade for existing Brushed motor and ESC toward the BL-2s
I'm sure they'll jump right on that. Traxxas loves giving stuff away cheap.
they would have to make it a sensored system and have drag break atleast likle the xl5

Yeah the sensored setup will definitely help
Cut some double sided tape to set inside the notch on esc to build it up for full better hood with esc
Screw ESC to plate then tape plate to chassis.
The “moment of silence” 🤣🤣
Just did the swap today 👍🏻
Hey Mark could you possibly use your Traxxas influence to help convince them to make a RDS style drift car rtr or kit ? 😂
Get the fiesta rally and strip the center/front driveline and add a gyro, drifts like a dream
I really dont have a traxxas influence… hahaha! I wish i did
Yeah I'm just buying a Traxxas TRX high trail and I'm definitely going to get me a to a BL and put it in my Traxxas TRX
I like it and it just happens that I have a new 2S brushless system sitting around that would fit in their perfectly good idea
I run a Castle that can do 4S @ 2280kV sensored... it'll flip the truck from a standstill. It's fun to hoon around on dirt with the scale looks. But I usually run it on 3S because 4S is just ridiculous.
Lol seriously? It fits in there?!?!
That is one beautiful thing about rc. You can try anything you want! 😊😊😊
I run the castle creation's momba x and a 3800 1410 in my trx4 and it rock's. 2s all the way up to 6s if your Kevin talbot lol
I’ve had crawlers on 2S , much rather have 3S due to more power, more runtime
2S gets you longer run time not 3S, with Traxxas batteries at least. 2S have higher capacity than any of the 3S batteries.
I will totally consider it but i really wanted to see how fast it was on 3s 😢
You can’t run 3s on the BL2s system
@majesty2699 is right, you cant run 3s on the bl2s system however i did edit out a part of the original video where i said “I cant wait to see this on 3s”…. Hahaha
Nice set up
Someone design and print a mount for this man. That way MSM can update and show us how it looks with the new mount.
why couldn't you reverse the throttle servo?
Thats freaking awesome! I think I'll stick with my Castle Creations setup for my true crawlers though. I love cramming "incompatible" electronics into my rig 😅
Just threw my Arrma Typhon 3s electronics into my Element Zuul trail truck to see what happens once my pinions arrive!
I can tell you what will happen… its going to be ballistic fast especially on 3s… hahaha
The drift tires were awesome!! Lol great video Mark!!!
Thanks 👍
@@MarkSantaMaria you're welcome!
awesome i like it i wish traxxas would do that some of its crawlers

Great point… you might be right… it does feel pretty quick though
It will but I think you still need to look into that.
We NEED a 1/18 scale UDR 🙇♂️
Should have put the bl-s in a bandit
I wanna see the rest of the traxxas box!😊
I want the bl 2s kit for a Bandit
looks not bad at all! Could we maby get a video of some crawl n with er ?
@traxxas...Proof in concept
That was a great video! I was entertained through the whole thing. Good job 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!

I'd like to see the same test except use a 4Tec or 2WD rustler or slash. The TRX-4 is not good for drag racing but fun test all the same.
Traxxas sells the 4tec chassis kit with the new 2s motor there really not much faster than the brushed motor mark has a video on it
You do you brother....I have a rally car that will get that system.
Yeah I'm not using it for a crawler I'm using it for a pulling trailer
I run a vxl 3s esc and a vxl 4s motor in my trx. Love it but it halls on just 2s
Hopefully Traxxas will drop a brushless trx system off this video! Mark you can use that body as your basher body and get that sweet blue one for your shelf body 😁
Or a ultimate version and with a 2000 kv that's 4s I'd buy that 😂😂
They would have to make it sensored
@@Brayrfd1192 lol will never Happen its a crawler 😂
Good evening brother cool video enjoy the weekend
Curious when the next list race is under the George bush overpass. I won’t be competitive really but would love to make it to one with my drag slash
I like the truck
can you please test the new kraton 4s. I just bought one and really want to know your opinion because i think its awesome :)
You should get traxxas to make a sensored brushless system
They never will. Traxxas is all about reliability. Sensored systems are more complex and add something that can break.
You can get a Hobbywing max 10 g2 80amp combo for 130 bucks what are traxxas thinking with that price 😆
I guess it’s the classic traxxas thing of taking something and upping the price😂
Hi mark
Can you answer this question with a video… why are the trx4 m sooo hard to find in retail shops around the world 🌍… I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 and it’s impossible to find them anywhere.. what’s the deal man…
Why not put a brushless in a trx4...i put a brushless system in way back when the original blazer was released
Where did the bronco body go?
I'm definitely trying this 😂
You can’t reverse the throttle channel using the link module
Could you please try the bl-2s system in the 2wd stampede? I personally want to try it but my local shop doesn't have them yet.
Hobbywing is a better buy
Nice one bro
Compair it to the fusion pro 2300k. That's the one I want to see.
Fusion SE 1800 kv is 80 bucks.
That price just get a just stock hobbywing combo
But no drag brake lol
thats a good point... i didnt even think about that... i usually hit trails and not as much hard core crawling
🔥🔥🔥
Are you gonna be at pnb ?
Does it still go from forward to brake when you push the trigger forward from fully squeezed. If so might use this combo in a Traxxas mid motor 2wd car
Im not really sure i need to test that
But does it crawl
Its actually quit a bit faster.....👍👍
Not the hot ticket for anyone who wants to do any kind of crawling. No drag break & the low end modulation just isn't there.
Yep I'm just buying a trx4 high trail I'm definitely going to put that motor in it
It's a trail truck not a crawler so whi cares
Im going to test it on a crawling setting today. I will let you all know but yes, i typically just do trails so it wont matter much.
Third??
Rc drag race was happening then it changed to crawler rc 💀
Kinda pointless if it's not faster and with no drag brake it'll be a worse crawler. Pretty much paying to make it a worse vehicle.
This guy's a bigger simp than the RC SAYLORS.
first?
Second.
Traxxas will do this and brand it as a new rc car. and bet it will be cheaper to buy the truck and the bl-2s and install it yourself then to buy it as one from traxxas
