Your honesty is the reason I watch, You've helped me decide on several RC purchases, all of which I'm super happy with. Keep on doing you, Best video yet on the bronco.

We grow together in RC and smile together. Really cool a that a person 35 years into the hobby gains insight from me. I used to compete as a kid with pattern airplanes.
I got mine (the first Yellow one in Puerto Rico) about 6 weeks ago. The platform is very planted and stable. Took the spare tire and fake winch off, added metal wheels and weights in the wheels and front hubs. Climbs with the best and its a blast to drive fast. I love it... and yes, its way too much money. But I had to have one :-)
You are such a great influencer and crawling enthusiast I hope you know u r a huge inspiration up there in my top 5 just for sheer consistency and non aggressive content that is pretty extensive.....please keep it coming
Pretty fair review. I was very excited about this release when it was first debuted. They did a great job with the Bronco body. I also was interested in the unlocking differentials and high second gear for some higher speed fun, as I've never owned a TRX4, only a Vaterra Ascender and Axial SCX10iii. However, the price is indeed high, considering the shortcomings. There are no lights, no interior, no bead lock wheels, and no licensed tires. Sure, I could add all those things, but then the price gets way too high for my liking. I decided to keep my money in my pocket, and keep driving my Axial SCX10iii, which checked all my boxes, at a lower price (I bought it before the recent price increases).
Our sentiments exact. It should be $400. Or at this price, include the components you mentioned. The TRX-4 is a great machine, especially 3 years ago. But I fear they just keep milking this platform and keep bleeding money from us, the most loyal fans. I hope in the next two years, we see really new stuff.
I love how to truly test and break these vehicles down. I too got back into the RC game a year or so again. My two monsters are the Arrma Mojave and the Losi Baja Rey 1/10💙. Would like to add the trx4 defender to my collection as well as a Xmaxx.
As far as the drag break, by the run videos, I don't think you reprogrammed the ESC for Crawl mode. The rig comes out of the box in Trail mode, not Crawl mode so you have to change it (page 19 in the manual).
Five red flashes on esc is crawl mode. Four red flashes is trail mode. One red flash is sport mode , zero drag brake. I really enjoy my trx4. It is more useable compared to scx10 2.
The Trx4 is what got me hooked again. After being out of the hobby for nearly 10 years I got an Xmaxx. Shortly after that I got the Trx4 Defender. Just recently traded my Xmaxx for a nearly new in box TRX6 and I also have a TRX4 '79 Bronco. I love going fast and bashing but it gets old quick. Batteries don't last when bashing. I take my Crawlers on trail hikes with me. Farthest I've gone is 8 miles with my Bronco, HW Fusion 1800 and a 5000mah 3s Traxxas battery. Had to resist the urge to go fast to get that far. Hoping to get this Bronco before long.
So glad I found this channel!! Going to buy my first TRX soon, and this is what I needed to learn. I'm used to Traxxas, but only Summit, stampede, and the likes, so knowing that the Bronco is just a new body saved me lots of money(It costs 8-900$ where I live, crazy prices for trx cars, oh man..)
I could listen to you talk about RC stuff all day. very informative and calm. thinking about maybe buying one of these and I just subscribed to your channel thanks
I own this truck. I can attest that I was shocked when the drag brake failed me on a sandy angle, in that it isn’t powerful enough to hold the weight of the truck.
That is so awesome I didn’t know that TRX4 is what got you started Brother. That makes me happy that your channel has done so well. I always get so much from your content. I love your excitement for the hobby.
Your channel is excellent and is really helping me learn about the intricacies of the various rc crawlers which I became involved with about 1 year ago. I will be buying a gmade blazer to join my 2 trx4's. Your detailed video about the gmade made me very interested in that rc vechile. Thank you!
Way to go Brother. I just love my 2021 Bronco and I’m excited to see you so happy about it too. I ripped out the brushed and slapped in a mambaX and 3800Slate and man it has all the scoot now buddy lol. Can’t wait to see what you do with yours. Much love brother.
There's 5 different driving profiles on the xl5hv the 5th one is hill hold mode that provides 100 percent drag brake ,manual tells about the different profiles and how to change them
@@RCReviewChannel not sure! I think forward reverse w/brake which i think is profile 3, profile 4 and 5 are for crawling no brake instant reverse and both different amounts of drag brake, it linda sucks tho if you like to go fast tho cuz the drag brake will put it on its lid on 3s
@@RCReviewChannel Default is not the best mode you want. You have to change it. (Dont think they changed it for the new bronco2021. Probably its the same "wrong" default as usual)
Like Tamiya, Traxxas wants you to buy over priced upgrade parts. In the crawler market, you are best off buying the kit version almost all of the time.
Absolutely love mine. still stock, but I have plans and parts in hand. Vitavon axles and skid plate, Proline Trenchers and some slick RC4WD Wheels. Now I need the Light Kit.
You need a boom mic Francis, come on guys :) And yes, I'm jelly. For my area, heathland, sand, mud, the Canyon tires a great (don't hate me) I love them.
I bought one of the first red Bronco arrived in Italy in late July... and was quite impressed! I agree with all your observations and can confirm them, goodness and weakness. I only have a different opinion about Canyon Trail tires: thei are great for climbing (we have tested really a lot of tires of any brand) but when the foam becomes too soft for TRX-4! We usually use new brand Canyon Trail tires for a few hours on TRX-4 and as the foam becomes really soft, we move these tires on other lighter cars...starting from that moment these tires becomes everyday better creating really impressive crawler monsters ! But these tires are completely inadequate for TRX-4 ! Having bought a set of these tires without mounting glue, we made by ourselves the foam (with an old mattress !!), im this way we got the right foam consistency for TRX-4 and this set of Canyon Trail tires has made a lot of km of crawling with optimal performance...and no performance degradation ! Now the question is: how is possible we achieve this at first attempt with an old material and Traxxas hasn't still achieved it after so many years???
@@thomasgross8289 for sure, but for that level of price in any case a better dimensioned foam could be delivered. In fact last Gladiator tires are now mounted on our TRX-4, when we don't need extreme grip performance. Once agai the surprise is how these top brand aren't able to deliver suitable tires!!
@14:35 is th I s a crawl park or some kind of retaining wall? I want to work with my local city to see if they would install something for rc-ers. We have a huge city park with lots of unused land. If this is a crawl park, I'd like 5i include it in my report for reference.
I just got my red one in a couple days ago. Installed the Pro Scale lights yesterday, and painted all the wheel nuts chrome silver (Tamiya) for a realistic look. Have yet to take it out, but I don't know of any areas in my immediate area and don't want to drive a couple hours down towards you. haha. So I'll just be driving over some river rocks for its maiden voyage.
I agree that the servo is not up to the task, not even in the Sport in stock form. The tires aren't very scale but perform quite well, at least in the terrain of CT. Most people swap out tires anyway.
At that price point it makes more sense to get the Crawler builders kit and add your own body later. After all, hats all you’re getting that’s new. I have everything on this for $399. Save the extra $150 and put it towards a Pro-Line body, a new servo... then upgrade your esc/motor and wheels later.

It’s still $500 today and all weaknesses explained here are correct. With that said, it’s a capable hobby grade radio controlled Bronco that has a mountain of upgrades available. I’ve seen these with $3000 in them.
It would cost them $20 to throw in those lights. And that would have made it all better. But with all the backorders and wait times. We can see why they don't sweeten the pot.
@@RCReviewChannel if that is truly the case, then Traxxas should sweeten the deal by dropping the price a bit to compensate for us having to buy everything aftermarket, but thats business I guess 🤷
I sold my first ever hobby grade rc which was a trx4 defender. been gone for 2 years now, found the guy that had it, he made it look brand new and put a new defender body on it, kept my old one and put it in a parts bin. he wants $350 for it and he texted me yesterday saying his friend at work has a 2021 bronco for $300. only watching this video to see which trx4 to buy. my first every rc? or a 2021 bronco?
Another great video, as always! 👍 Undoubtly the TRX4 is an awesome piece of kit. Sadly their price totally scared me away from them when I bought my first trail truck. I went for a >100€ cheaper Absima Sherpa which has all the same features as a TRX-4, plus a light kit, and a better ESC. (Also sold under Yikong and Amewi branding). I'd watch that review as well! 😉
Francis, Thanks for the honest review. I bought one and so far for my 1st rc truck, I love it. What weight shock oil would you recommend to make it more crawl worthy? I really enjoy all your videos. Thanks!
Not sure about your #4 Cons. I have mine setup to Crawl Mode(5 red blinks in esc), created a inclined ramp around 50+ degrees slope and drag brake is pretty strong. Goes down pretty slow. Modulation is also really good and not jerky. Maybe i got lucky with my unit? Lol. Wish i can post here the video i took to show its drag brake and modulation 🤪
Could you do a comparison on this vs a trx4 sport? Things like approach angle would be great to compare, or if you can remove those fake winches and compare before and after vs the trx 4 that’d be an awesome video
@@RCReviewChannel I agree. I'm looking to purchase a TRX4 but I don't know which one to get! Do they all have the locking diffs? Front lock? Center lock? Etc. I don't want to skimp out- but I also don't want to pay extra, since this is just a new truck (since I"ll be replacing the body anyway)
I am very new to RC hobby and I am glued to your channel. Bought an element trailrunner few months back and planning to buy trx4 soon. Which one do you recommend between defender and bronco 2021?
Hi, thank you for your reviews. Is there a possibility to adapt a defender body? I mean if you want to use an spare defender body can we put the old system in this one?
Great review!! I am thinking to get this or 6x6…. I hope Traxxas will update a new 6x6 with the new shell system or maybe a defender 6x6. Quick question about Lipo battery… how bad or slow will it be if I am not using Lipo… cos my 4 years old kid playing all my RC, (currently Tamiya CC02 and TT02) just feel not comfortable to use Lipo and sometimes he plug n charge the battery by himself using nimh…🤔🤔
The most important upgrade on this truck that Traxxas did was changed the rubber compound in the tires! Much softer and can get nice and sticky with a little traction compound.
As far as I have been informed the only truck to have the new tire compound is on the new 2021 bronco. I’ll try to get more specific information for you.
I’m really torn between the trx4 bronco and the axial CSX 10.3 wrangler. I’m new to the hobby and just want something that will crawl good and I won’t have to add aftermarket parts.
Still waiting to see the newer Old Classic Bronco from Axial on your channel. I depend on your reviews to see how well it's going to perform in comparison to other RC crawlers. Using the same course for all it's a great equalizer
Great video. I am in the market for a new RC car. I am debating between the 21 Bronco and the TRX-4 Sport.. Trying to decide if the almost $200 price difference is worth it.
Another great video!!! The TRX 4 is my favorite platform. But I can agree better electronics would be nice especially at that price. I love the old Bronco body and the new one!! Love the way the body mounts on the new one!! This one is definitely on my wish list!!! Thanks for the review and keep up the good work!!!
I have this car and I love it but do want to do some upgrades to it. What tires would you say is a good upgrade to go? I see the tires are a 1.9 but don't know if they take a 2.2 without mods.
I have the Defender, G500 and 2021 Bronco. As far as stock, the Bronco performs the best by out of the box by far. I've never had the Sport to compare but I'd imagine it would be better then the Bronco. (although I really think the diff locks add a lot to performance so until I get a Sport, not sure now ;-) ) I just got the light kit. Expensive, yes but it's really cool. Neat feature I just found last night. As much as I don't like "blinking turn signals" on a crawler, I notice that they only illuminate when you turn the wheel a decent amount so it's not that annoying if you forgot to turn off the signals in the light controller when you snap the body on. Even when you're climbing and slowly adding in steering, the turn signals rarely turn on. Only seem to turn on when your steering is at neutral and then you do about a 75% or better turn. Great video as usual and nice honest review!
The trx rigs are great vehicles but personally the bronco body lost its appeal pretty quick. A good tuner can make just about any hobby grade crawler perform. With zero mods id say the trx and scx10 2 are the top dogs. I own everything but the hpi so they all have something to offer. My favorite depends on the day and terrain.
Thank you for your awesome and informative videos. I've been watching videos in my search for a way to get into RC and the Crawler scene. For me, this concretes the fact that the TRX4 is overpriced and played out. I will continue to prefer the Redcat Gen8 V2 for my budget, style, and taste.
Both cars look good. The Defender is thanks to its wheels more an Islander truck, than the usual Defender we know. The Bronco looks better with these tires But I'd rather put another body on that. Is it possible to put narrower tires on that truck?
Does the initial purchase price ($550) come with batteries and a charger and everything to get you crawling with the Bronco or do you have to purchase those items separately?
I was about to get the defender then this comes out so I watched a bunch of reviews on this but preferred the defender instead the only thing that impressed me was the new body Mount design
I like the new body mounting system, tried it in store and it works really well. However, I don't care for the new Bronco, it just looks like too many other designs got it on with an old Bronco and gave birth to some kind of mutated vehicle which has some old Bronco features with a little Jeep, 4Runner, and some other weird things mixed in. The 1:1 versions look even worse in real life to me. You covered all the other negatives for me so nothing to add there.
Great review and stellar points made. The ending tire change and spare tire removal, as well as servo weakness points need to be heard by traxxas. I enjoy mine, however, I have too much money in this product to have to purchase parts to properly do the job while underrated stock parts were used (steering servo specifically). If this RC had a gym routine, it keeps skipping tire and servo day.
I love your calm, honest, technical reviews. I've pretty much left the channels with the loud music, yelling, and flashy video editing.
I try to deliver insight. Of course fun and enthuthiasm is key too.

@@RCReviewChannel I agree. I'm looking to purchase a TRX4 but I don't know which one to get! Do they all have the locking diffs? Front lock? Center lock? Etc. I don't want to skimp out- but I also don't want to pay extra, since this is just a new truck (since I"ll be replacing the body anyway)
wish traxxas would update the other body styles to this "new" trx version with all of the same features
Hello, do you think I should buy the old bronco or the new bronco, both are the same unit price?
Great review!! I am thinking to get this or 6x6…. I hope Traxxas will update a new 6x6 with the new shell system or maybe a defender 6x6. Quick question about Lipo battery… how bad or slow will it be if I am not using Lipo… cos my 4 years old kid playing all my RC, (currently Tamiya CC02 and TT02) just feel not comfortable to use Lipo and sometimes he plug n charge the battery by himself using nimh…🤔🤔
Great video ! Will a Bronco vs Gladiator be coming out soon !?!?!
The most important upgrade on this truck that Traxxas did was changed the rubber compound in the tires! Much softer and can get nice and sticky with a little traction compound.
Did they do that? When do you think?
There is a mod too to open up the tread and it works really good.
As far as I have been informed the only truck to have the new tire compound is on the new 2021 bronco. I’ll try to get more specific information for you.
One of the big companies needs to make a lcg ready to run I think people would buy it
That would be really cool. In fact, anyone who offers an LCG RTR will get rich
I’m really torn between the trx4 bronco and the axial CSX 10.3 wrangler. I’m new to the hobby and just want something that will crawl good and I won’t have to add aftermarket parts.
Great video content! Thanks for the review. One thing that made me go oof was the mic noise. . . That's my only critique, lol.
Yeah, this is a wireless Senheiser that's usually reliable but there was definitely an issue. Will check for sure!!
Wish that HPI hadn't basically went under right before releasing the FJ crawler. It was a nice design not perfect but better than a lot at the time
Great review of a fantastic crawler however that creaking sound coming from possibly the camera gets old fast..
Great video review! Question, what ramps are those??
They are called MTB Hopper bike ramps. Pricey
A lovely review. Perhaps some day I'll get such a RC Crawler. Mean time i'll make do with my cheap FTX Mauler!
thank you!
Totally agree! Thanks for the good words.
Does this come with the optional roof delamination?
Is that a known issue? Charge extra I bet :)
Paint the top flat black like I did and you can watch it peal off Ha Ha!
@@RCReviewChannel he’s talking about the 1:1 real Bronco I believe
I am looking fornthe best crawler, which one do you recommend? Bronco or landrover or anyother. Money is not annissue
Great video ! I think the bronco is a the best TRX4 yet out performing the sport
I have this car and I love it but do want to do some upgrades to it. What tires would you say is a good upgrade to go? I see the tires are a 1.9 but don't know if they take a 2.2 without mods.
Amazing review! Thank you for your honest opinion.
As always a Great Review!!!👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I appreciate that
I have the Defender, G500 and 2021 Bronco. As far as stock, the Bronco performs the best by out of the box by far. I've never had the Sport to compare but I'd imagine it would be better then the Bronco. (although I really think the diff locks add a lot to performance so until I get a Sport, not sure now ;-) )
I just got the light kit.
Also I think the perfect motor and esc combo to put in the trx4 is in my opinion is the Hobbywing Fusion 1800kv
absolutely
Thank you for your awesome and informative videos. I've been watching videos in my search for a way to get into RC and the Crawler scene. For me, this concretes the fact that the TRX4 is overpriced and played out. I will continue to prefer the Redcat Gen8 V2 for my budget, style, and taste.
Nice!!!! But I would like them to be hard body plastic 😢 with functional doors.
Both cars look good. The Defender is thanks to its wheels more an Islander truck, than the usual Defender we know.
The Bronco looks better with these tires But I'd rather put another body on that.
Is it possible to put narrower tires on that truck?
I believe I got more with my grey SCX lll JLU RTR for less and the drag brake works.
Help point me in the right direction I'm getting ready for a new crawler should I get the Marksman or wait for a bronco.....
If you don't have. TRX4 yet, get this.
tires need a few runs on em before test
I’m very happy for you Sir :)
thank you
Hi can you do a mini z buggy review?
Will look into it.
Does the initial purchase price ($550) come with batteries and a charger and everything to get you crawling with the Bronco or do you have to purchase those items separately?
I don't own 1 Traxxas in my fleet, all arrma, axial and wltoys lol its hard to buy one when I'd have to get charger and everything to start with
go to climb mode and the brakes work perficly
I was about to get the defender then this comes out so I watched a bunch of reviews on this but preferred the defender instead the only thing that impressed me was the new body Mount design
Hi, could you please recommend a esc for upgrade? I've your content 😀
Fair assessment buddy!
Good review as always, will you be doing the new Axial early Bronco?
Just saw that come into stock. Thinking about it but very expensive for what it is.
