In your comparison, Sofirn SD 09 or SD 06?
Taking into account that I'm looking for a flashlight to deal with floods and illuminate riverbanks...

Both lights should be able to do that easily but the SD09 will have longer runtimes. I prefer single cell flashlights though as I don't need to worry about cell voltages as much, and easier to carry around.

_"Pretty chilly night in Melbourne..."_ 🇦🇺
Where I live, I'd have to spend the night at Cameron or Genting Highlands in order to remotely experience a chilly night. Even then, it would hardly even reach 15 Celsius. 😥 In Kuala Lumpur, a flashlight on extended turbo runtime isn't exactly a hand warmer but the cause of first degree burns! 😨
Going back on topic, is the SD06 a current or discontinued model? It's not listed on the official Sofirn website. That SFT70 is simply awesome. I wasn't aware of this emitter model, but I guess Luminus had to compete against Cree's XHP90 LED. 🔦👍

Ah that's right, you're living in Malaysia :D are you from there originally? The SD06 hasn't been released yet. Maybe in a week or so.

@@DarrenYeoYT Yes, I was born here back in sixty four, long before you were! 🙂 Flashlights have always fascinated me as a kid as I didn't have many toys to play with. I can't imagine how I would have reacted to something like the FC13 or the Convoy M1 greenie back in '72!
I thought I was the weird one with a secret fixation for torches until I found out that there are actually social groups for flash-aholics around the world! 😨🔦
That explains why the SD06 hasn't been advertised yet, but I admire the perks you get as a flashlight reviewer on UA-cam! 😀

@@StratmanIIah cool, I've been to KL with some friends ages ago, noticed a lot of internationals are moving there these days. You could make some reviews of lights too and also get samples :) it's hard in the beginning as when you have 0-100 subscribers, sometimes feels like things are going nowhere. But it'll work out if you're interested long term.

@@DarrenYeoYTYou've been to KL? Awesome! 🌏👍Malaysia isn't nowhere as expensive as Singapore to live in as a second home and the locals speak English more than Thais or Indonesians do. I even subscribed to one gentleman's YT channel, a retiree who moved from Florida to KL. He says he has no plans of returning to the US. 🙂
I've never set foot on the Australia before while all of my siblings and parents have. I have cousins who have long become permanent residents and they live in Perth and Melbourne. Hope to be able to see the Australian outback and the Great Barrier Reef someday! ☺🇦🇺
As much as I would like to run a YT channel, age has caught up with me and I have lots of stuff on my plate right now. 😞 Prior to revisiting my flashlight interest, I had heavily invested my time and money in collecting Seiko/Citizen/Orient watches since 2002. I resurrected my shortwave radio listening hobby in 2021, during Covid-19. I've enough shortwave radios for now and moved my attention towards torches.
I've always had "tactical" flashlights in the drawer but they consist of an old Inova X5 UV torch, a T2 and a T3 with TIROS optics (one 6000K thrower, one 4500K flooder), a couple of disposable cheap SM11 zoomable torches made by the parent company of Sofirn/Aplos/Wurrkos and 2xAA cell Energizer flooder LED lights. And that the cheap Shustar zoomable FL with a "P70" wick I bought more than a year ago. That 26650 cell Shustar makes it a better striking tool than it is a flashlight. 😂
I had already known brands like Nitecore (too expensive), Surefire, Acebeam and of course, Inova. But I didn't really sit down to watch reviews of budget torches like Wurkkos, Sofirn or Convoy so I didn't really give them a thought. Compared to watches, cameras, electric guitars and shortwave receivers, to me budget flashlights are much more affordable hobby. I buy a lot of stuff on the Lazada platform and the cumulative virtual coins and vouchers that I've collected send the price tag of the flashlights plummeting between 20-40 percent.
So, what started out as innocently trying out a Wurkkos TS22 and an Sofirn IF23 suddenly unleashed the hidden monster inside of me. My logical thinking tells me that I only needed two new torches at the most, but heart told me otherwise! 😁😈
Sorry for the long rant, mate! 🙏 I think I'm having a mid-life crisis! 😁

@@StratmanIIsounds like we have a lot of similar interests 😅 so I have a few guitars as well - as wondering if the 'strat' in your username was referencing that.. guess I know now haha. I'm into watches too but have enough of them so have stopped. Also into Japanese watches, orient are great value. I also have some Russian ones - Vostok. I like stuff that's unique in my mind. Would like a smooth sweeping minute hand watch, but most are quite expensive and I can't justify it. Bulova do one apparently at an OK price.
