I think he proably did, not mourning the wife side but mourning the mother of his children. They weren't a good match but she was a good mother to their kids.
People can hate him all they want. But they had children together. And she died hating him. Them together was a terrible idea from the beginning but on the human level, you can feel regret that you let someone down. And yes, you can still do hurtful things to them. No one does things to other human thinking 'you'll die tomorrow'. We wouldn't do so many bad things if only we knew that we would never get a chance to fix it, move on or have a sense of closure. So it's totally fine to have a cry because 'fck. That's it? She's gone. What now?'
They both had a lot of emotional baggage and mental challenges (Diana showed a lot of signs of Borderline Personality Disorder, Charles appeared to have his own emotional neediness). I think they both very much loved each other, but truly struggled with how to love each other. Neither was meeting the others needs, and it was probably a nightmare for them both. So even though things didn’t work out, and it was probably for the best they weren’t together, it doesn’t mean Charles wasn’t heartbroken when she was killed, even having to ID the body was probably very traumatizing. This was still the mother of children which was an intimate bond they both shared. To see her lifeless body, even though he was no longer with her romantically, was probably so devastating.
Diana craved attention. Charles craved being made to feel confident. Diana's attention craving prevented her from seeing how much Charles needed his wife to make him feel confident. Which made him insecure in light of the attention she actually got from the public. Which prevented him from giving her the attention she needed from him. A never ending loop. One's flaw feeding into the other's and growing the mutuel insatisfaction.
Personality Disorders are rooted in trauma. Diana had an extensive trauma history that involved emotional neglect, abandonment, witnessing intimate-partner violence between her parents, one or both of her parents were alcoholics. Her father remarried without telling any of his children. She was sent away to boarding school against her will. Chronic stress caused by childhood trauma changes the way that the brain develops, and it is likely that all of this contributed to her depression, disordered eating, abandonment fears, and emotional distress because trauma can stint emotional and psychological development. In many ways, she was re-traumatized over and over again by Charles, the royal family, and the firm. While her behavior can be considered as having characteristics of a personality disorder, her behavior was a response to her complex trauma.

I hope one day they release the version of the crown that they would have had the queen not died during this time and Charles became king because i don’t believe one second that he’d cry for Diana like that.
This is the most amazingly moving thing I've seen in a very long time. It captured the difficult nature of love, however imperfect it can be, however incomplete it is by failing to fulfill one's best hopes. The marriage of Charles and Diana was an impossible dream that came to us at a time when we wanted to believe that fairy tales can be real, can actually come true. In the end that proved just a phantom reality... unattainable. The interaction on the airplane brought me some satisfaction and it reminded me that intentions are sometimes the best that we can have.
This was a devastating but beautifully written (and acted) scene. I remember when the family went to Paris to retrieve Diana’s body. Of the three, Lady Jane looked the most shell shocked (probably because she wasn’t close to her sister at the end and they never reconciled after Diana’s break from the royal family). I do respect Charles for going to Paris; he did not have to. I always felt like he did it on behalf of his sons who couldn’t go but wanted to bring Mummy home. It wouldn’t have been right to let the Spencer’s do it alone. I’m not a fan of Charles but he did good in this situation.
He was probably ordered to by the Queen otherwise the nation would have turned on the Royals. There’s no way he did it out of any sort of duty other than to himself and his image

Charles never had a choice to marry Diana. He should’ve been allowed to marry camilla in the first place. And that would’ve stoped this innocent young woman from a horrible life which would eventually lead to her death.
I can't blame Charles for the turmoil on his marriage with Diana, after all he was pushed by the queen and Duke to marry her when his feelings were towards Camila. If you saw the movie W/E, the same situation happened with Queen Elizabeth's uncle. He quit the throne to marry the woman he loved, a divorced American woman. Regardless of how he treated her in life, he did the right thing by making a royal funeral for her. He realized Diana was more beloved and popular than the royal family and also they learn from her death to be more in touch with the people. Queen Elizabeth and Princess Anne on separate interviews said that they regret not been able to help more Diana in order to save the marriage with Charles.
This scene was portrayed to sheer perfection. 😢 I believe Charles cried when he viewed Diana for the final time💔 And her sisters stood shoulder to shoulder; that, also, was heartbreaking. 💔
Diana did not deserve the end she was served but The Crown is not even close on, as on many occasions. The writers were finnaly forced to admit during season 4 there work was pure fiction and a best guess. The idea that the then Prince Chrales wailed over her dead body in front of the hospital staff is simply ridiculous. They had no idea who she was when she she arrived, but by the the time Charles came to collect her, they knew exactly who she was and did not need him to identify anything. The French at that stage were already into damage limitation
The sad part about this entire saga both the real incident that shocked the world and this dramatised version of it both represent something that really is a fact of life, that is people are messy and they make mistakes I guess most of us can admit to it. But in the case of the members of this marriage and those in the immediate vicinity of it were not given something that was absolutely essential to such sensitive matters and that’s privacy. Everyone has an opinion and it is a matter of fact that most countries allow you to have an opinion. But here we see a set of messy people who got into a messy marriage and this was all only made worse by fact that all of this was public.
Princess Di keep telling her husband that she didn't stand a chance between that one and her husband, Princess Di never wanted to take that one's Name even in conversation i can only imagine how painful and scars filled with hurt alone she suffered manage to bring up her children. I have seen the interviews clearly she was asking for help if cannot given a simple gesture of acknowledgement. But nothing. I have faith in GOD that oneday justice will be done for her suffering
I’m not a fan of Charles but I do believe he was greatly affected by her death. She was the mother of his children and I think he cried for the fact he knew it would crush them.
I think king Charles iii realized his love for Diana princess of wales...only after he lost her forever.... Its true, we don't value the person who is besides us until it they are no longer with us.

Death of a loved one is a weird phenomena. It can hit you one way one day and another way another day. Sadness, tribute, anger, lessons learned, a way forward. So much to digest.
3 dates come to mind the world cried. March 31 1995 Selena's death. August 31 1997 Lady Diana's death. I was 15 and then 17. I was so sad to hear about it. Then 4 years later 9/11 happened I was about to turn 21 that day I was so sad and so scared.

Diana’s new lover dodi came first . That’s not good mothering .
I don't believe for a second he cried out like that.
I don't either. If he did it was for show. He was probably crying because he could now marry Camila.
Me either I hope he rots in hell where he belongs
@@Maria-sg4zyI’m thinking if there were any they were absolutely tears of joy
That's it? She's gone. What now?'
Absolutely love these ghost scenes…so true! I’m certain she came back.
How sad that the royal family never gave her the respect she deserved. Once she passed they realized people loved her so much!!!
I enjoyed watching these two actors portray the older Diana and Charles.

Her father should have hospitalized her instead of enabling her princess fantasy. He should have sold off more of Althorp, instead of his damaged daughter.
I’ll never understand how Chuck had a rare yellow Diamond but preferred cubic zirconia
I love Dominic West. He gave Charles a softness and humanity that I have a hard time seeing in the real man.
Imagine leaving someone who love you deeply for the sake of a mare, only then realised that person's persona would always outshine that mare no matter what.
Damn. Well said.
I will always remember that day. I cried 😢 for days...we all did.
When Diana died Charles was crying for weeks and Cowmilla told him that if he didn't pull himself together, she would leave him. Fact.

I don’t like Camilla. But saying something is a “fact” doesn’t necessarily make it f*cking so. You need to cite your sources.
No because Charles hated Diana
I find it very hard to believe this man shed one tear over his wife. No way.

Yeah Cancer is a bitch
Yes. Now I hear that Charles’ cancer is terminal.

Guilt makes you cry and regret. Pity he didn’t think as much of her when alive. Sorry he wanted it both ways and life isn’t like that !
I knew her well ,through my then boyfriend a de Rothschild ,we went shopping with her often .when my boyfriend died form AIDS within 30 min she rang me ,and said anything i needed she was there .she was simply lovely xxxxxxxxxxxx
I think this was one of the best scene's in the crown. I think if was also one of the truest.
RIP Diana, Princess of Wales 🏴 and you were the Queen of Hearts to everyone and I miss her so much ❤😢🙏😇
Speak for yourself she was not the queen of hearts to anyone i know
I guess you can't watch this scene without crying... 😥😔😓
It sounds like to me Charles was crying for her his sons and probably worried the British people were going to blame him for her death.
No sooner had I gotten on a phone call with my mother, she blamed Charles for Diana dying outside of England. She said of Charles: “…if YOU had loved her, she wouldn’t BE dead….” 🤨
He bares blame for her death … absolutely!
When are people going to realize that not loving someone is not a crime?
It's Charles' fault for not loving Diana, just as it isn't Diana's fault either
Diana and Dodi were in a hotel before the crash, they could have stayed in the hotel. The driver's blood alcohol was so high he would have been noticeably stumbling. Diana also belived that someone was planning to killer her in a crash. The police report showed that she would have likely survived had she worn her seat belt. She made 3 shitty choices that had catastrophic conclusion.

He saw the body of his injured wife lots of cut to her fragile body
Even kings and queen is not immune to see tragedy
I, unfortunately, remember where I was when I heard of Princess Diana passing. Such a sad day 🥺
There will be no one that will ever replace princess Di !! She is and always will be the queen of hearts, and that is something that can ever be taken away from her❤
Lady Diana to me was a flower in the desert watered by God....i loved her for her great courage in dealing with disadvantaged humanity.....in a moment she was here and in amoment she was gone just like an Angel departs after completing mission.
I watched over and over this movie.. still, I can't hold back my tears. I love you Lady Diana! ❤😢

I highly doubt such man has ever shed a tear for a woman he so clearly despised. He envied her, and was probably relieved when she passed away.
Diana was a good person very honest
If only he had regrets. If only he'd admit he mistreated her, loved her, and was sorry. If only... It wouldn't change a thing.. but it would make us know that he has a heart.
@@AngieRIamHIS4Life Diana was a disaster , he only treated her with disinterest because of all her boarder line personality disorder behaviour. . It was Diana her treated him badly .
I don't think this scene was necessary. It made Charles seem more like a self forgiving delusional narcissist than apologetic. It made him seem like he was forgiven and a hero, but this all happened because he cheated on her and treated her like crap.
He shouldn't have been fed a redemption arc.
I don't believe this for a second. He was HAPPY she was out of the way.
they said when he went into the hospital room he almost fell over. it hit him then what a total mess he had made of it all
@@patgal2359 in truth he probably blamed himself for it. for her needing to leave and get away from him and it all had he been better she could of stayed and still be alive that has to some degree bother him.
Well if you all remember like I do it was Charles who made his mother fly the flag half staff and give her a royal funeral because she was against it. The Queen didn’t even want to address the nation, it was Charles who made her do it. He had enough and he wanted to honor the mother of his boys because he himself said if she was nothing else, she was a great mother. More of a mother than he ever had.
Oh now he shows he cares….
He doesn't care about her as far I see he used her and threw her to the wolves
It’s FICTION. FICTION. Charles has never cared a whit for anyone other than himself and the Rottweiler.
@@joanreynolds955 Actually, Charles couldn't stop crying when Princess Diana died..........he realised too late what he and England had truly lost............
Charles never had a choice to marry Diana. He should’ve been allowed to marry camilla in the first place. And that would’ve stoped this innocent young woman from a horrible life which would eventually lead to her death.
@@sstann168 He had a choice. Of course, he did. He just didn’t have the cajones to stand up to his tiny, drunken grandmother.
What a terrible day. The effect of Diana’s death on the world was unsurpassed.
This scene was portrayed to sheer perfection. 😢 I believe Charles cried when he viewed Diana for the final time💔 And her sisters stood shoulder to shoulder; that, also, was heartbreaking. 💔
He was so devastated his staff had to bring him a chair.
@@Annette-d5f Guilty conscience is what got the better of Charles.
if you find out someone loves you, never hurt that someone, at any cost.especially your spouse.
Regret? He killed her
The sad part about this entire saga both the real incident that shocked the world and this dramatised version of it both represent something that really is a fact of life, that is people are messy and they make mistakes I guess most of us can admit to it.
Now that king charles is sick maybe just maybe he regretted how he made diana cried💔💔
The grass is very rarely greener on the other side. Sadly, Prince Charles realised it too late.............
Absolutely incredible scene, sensitive, vulnerable, beautiful. so powerful in its humanity.
I think king Charles iii realized his love for Diana princess of wales...only after he lost her forever.... Its true, we don't value the person who is besides us until it they are no longer with us.
The only reason charles cried because he knew the general public would hate him more.
I personally don’t feel that he showed the emotions that this is saying he did.
U cant tell me he didnt had an inch of love for her n Respect
she was just another victim the story of her life portrays the reality of many with their undervalued love and feeling how you would feel if someone you read cheated

What was he crying about if at all he did..Diana's tragic end was what he led her to
He did not put her in that car. She should have been home, waiting for her boys, not tramping around with that cocaine dealer.
Death of a loved one is a weird phenomena. It can hit you one way one day and another way another day. Sadness, tribute, anger, lessons learned, a way forward. So much to digest.
Couldn't have regretted much, he married the woman he destroyed his marriage for.
now its too late
And people believe that those tears were real 😂😂😂😂
3 dates come to mind the world cried. March 31 1995 Selena's death. August 31 1997 Lady Diana's death. I was 15 and then 17. I was so sad to hear about it. Then 4 years later 9/11 happened I was about to turn 21 that day I was so sad and so scared.

I'm very sure that King Charles in his old age sees the consequences of his actions and even regrets bringing Sleeps A Lot into the firm and wishes he could go back in time and bring back Lady Di knowing the damage that Sleeps A Lot caused to the family as well as the firm at large and finally mend the rift between him and his younger son but can't really do anything at this point about her until the day of her death but then again all consequences of bad choices he decided to make on his own so no one else tp blame but himself and may he be reminded of it each and every time he looks upon the face of Sleeps A Lot
