  • Another magickal day in the life of a witch: Today I am taking you along through my day celebrating Samhain. Samhain is also sometimes referred to as the witches' new year and is the third harvest festival on the Wiccan Wheel of the year. With Samhain, the veil is thinning and therefore a perfect time to honor and remember our ancestors. In this witch vlog, I will share some ideas and inspirations for Samhain rituals with you, make a traditional Samhain treat and share some bits and pieces about Celtic and Germanic paganism and traditions around this time of the year. My day, celebrating this Sabbat was filled with folk witchcraft and cozy fall vibes, and I am so excited to be able to share this with you. How are you celebrating Samhain? Or are you more into Halloween?

Another amazing The witches' cookery video and this time about Samhain but in typical style this video is about so much more...The book about your Granny Ursula looks like it would be a fascinating read and clearly very emotional for you Bex...dedicating the day to your grandparents was a lovely gesture, family history is so important...I never used to care about it but the older I get the more important it becomes to me. Hey, thank you for following along (and for checking out the book! 💚)
It was a really lovely day, especially since in my everyday life I am so busy and don't really dedicate time to thinking of the people that did provide for me and shaped me (to some extent) into who I am today so it was nice to do so. I hope you had a fantastic Halloween (well, even though, it might not be the biggest thing in Australia?)

Well, I am glad you enjoy my teachings about nuts 😂
The tangerine lights are natural candles and super easy to make! You just remove the peel like I did in the video and make sure that the little white "stem" thingy (the white stuff that is in the middle of all the fruit slices) stays in the peel. Then you pour some olive oil over it and you have a all natural candle :)

Second time watching (love it, but now I am taking a break so I can watch and comment heehee), love love love the little dance you do when sharing the list, which gets me so excited for all that is to come! I love the soul ships. More so, how very much this concept can be found around the world, including Orient and India :) Because our ancestors were cremated and released into the waters, it is a daily tradition to release flowers/offerings and light (Aarti) into the rivers for a few reasons. An aarti is a devotional ritual using fire and it’s common to place a small candle inside a cup made from leaves and flowers and float it down the river. The idea is that the candle placed in the bowl symbolizes the soul, and its placement on the river represents the link between the inner and outer worlds. In India, where the tradition originated, some perform the ritual daily - at dawn and dusk and it's power and importance is never taken for granted. My grans didn't live close to the ocean back home in Trinidad, but they had a Spirit House in front of their home, you see these in a lot of Polynesian islands as well. Mama would leave an Aarti offering every morning and night after their daily devotionals. I have a few different ways I have made my offerings over the course of my life, adapting based on resources, and where I resided at the time :) So ancestral work is part of my life all year long, but we do have special times of year where additional workings are done! Perhaps I will do a video next fall about this ;) ? Your creation of the soul boat truly moved me... I got quite emotional when you talked about the walks with your grans and remembering them as you collected the items you needed. I felt their presence surrounding you as you made it, and even know. I know you don't necessarily work with the ancestors, but am SO grateful you did this. I think it was a good thing for you xo. I also was quite moved when you were reading the book and showed your own vulnerability in experiencing her memories. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 The orange light really had diya/aarti vibes too! I loved it! May I borrow that? :) --- oh the nut part!! Okay, so on Christmas Eve growing up my paternal father (Indian/Scottish via the Caribbean for both) would instruct us to place wishes on each and the ones that popped on the fire have been released and the wish granted to manifest in the new year! We do have the colonization influences in the islands so that might explain where it came from :) --- love the concept of soul cakes and definitely love the story behind the braided cakes! - The Anglican, and Scottish/Irish part of my heritage may contain similar. I am still working on research for these aspects of my bloodlines :) - Okay, my favorite part! The saucy instructions for the bread! Hee hee, the guest list --- you are seriously so adorable I just can't! -- Ohhh, Lady Yeast is getting the Cleopatra treatment with a warm milk bath, nicceeeee ;) heehee, Well hell, RUM girl, you inviting my island ancestors to the party too! Sweeetttt! 😘 - I can only home some get handsy ;) heehee, -- Ahhhh cooking by candlelight, I love that about you! --- GULP, okay, so glad your bread all rose to the occassion lol. Ohhh little mister xoxo HUGS!, -- The carvings that you stood by before releasing the Soul Boat were soooo powerful. It looked like figures, faces, but I wasn't sure and they also looked like wood, but was it stone? Would love to see it in the day and learn more about them please! This was very much the energy recharge I needed after ritual creations since noon, it's just after 6, time to head back in to the Ritual Apothecary. Thank you for sharing this and may I say.... MORE PLEASE :D! Serioulsy, not that that wasn't a serious request, but seriously, May the ancestors of blood, land and spirit guard, guide and grant you and yours an abundance of love, health and all your desires for the new year ahead. Much Love - me :)

Guten tag, first I need to say that the samhain pear cake is scrumptious. Yet I did not do the weather's dipped pears for the top, but did do three layers. You mentioned your moon app, as there are so many, could you provide the name and publisher. Thank you ever so much, your channel is wonderful. Blessed be.

I've never done things like this for my ancestors. But I've lost so many relatives this year and almost lost my daughter to this pandemic.
Is it just our ancestors of years gone by or anyone from now and long ago?
