Would this be a good alternative for a snorkel? I have tracks on my DA63t and snow dust is an issue. Also, in dry season dust is issue. would rather go this route than installing a snorkel behind cab. my mini is also a dump. thanks in advance and great video
Hi Grant. Good question. This air filter sits at about the same height as the OEM air box. It's disconnected from the lower resonator/suction tube, so you won't get dust or snow getting sucked up from that. There's also a splash shield (light grey metal) to protect from debris. My concern would be this air filter is still exposed to the environment, so I'm not sure if you would still be protected from all the environmental debris. If you want more photos, videos or measurements let me know and I can put it together for you. Cheers and thanks so much for watching!
My only concern for this is offroad usage. I've been seat deep through streams in this and with this stock plastic box I've had no issue. Different applications, I suppose.. Do you know much about adding a turbo? I read its as simple as bolting it on, but that cant be. I surely need to change exhaust and manifold, etc. Can you link me somewhere with info? I'm getting nothing consistent.
That's a very good point. Even though this has the shield I don't think it would be any match for water that deep. I can take any measurements if you're curious about it. As for turbo, I've done some research in the past. In my head the easiest route would be to find parts off a factory turbo K6A and swap them over here. But not sure if that resolves issues with fitment and clearance. I have found full turbo build aftermarket kits too, if you're interested in just seeing those let me know, I can link it. Let me do a few quick searches in Japanese and see what else I can come up with. Stay tuned.
@@Sadokist If you check out @gtcpktv on UA-cam or their website gt-produce.com, they sell a full aftermarket turbo kit for these trucks. I also found someone in Philippines that did a K6A turbo engine swap on r/keitruck on Reddit, but they didn't provide too much info either. That's about all I've been able to find so far.
I liked the comparison shots from before and after. Really nice transitions
Thank you. I really appreciate the feedback!

@@KeitoraYYC Appreciate it! The fitment given the location of the engine was my biggest concern. Might be better to use a super, I guess.

any chance you can share the dimensions on the metal piece that the filter connects to? im looking to 3D print one so I can try it out.
That's a really cool idea. I'll try to get some measurements for you next time I'm in there.
Thanks mate
Crazy overpriced for a Chinese cone filter and sheet of metal. Sucker born every minute
