Me i had the game. My first chao was named Champy he was really sweet and won all the races but sadly he died. I tried to make a replacement but it just wasn't the same. Chaos Chao is a perma not dying chao.
Bro just use an emulator or get it on steam... if u get it on steam I think you can even get access the files and give your Chao OP stats Also RIP your exams
This is a great guide, definitley using this one for my chao. One thing though, there is a much better way to farm rings by abusing a glitch. All you need to do is get something that sells for alot at the black market like a rare egg shell or something, go sell it, then after leaving the market, dashboard out/reset the game like you did in this guide, and you'll have kept the rings you made, and the item you sold will still be in the garden. It works because the rings you earned are saved automatically in the game's data, but because you didn't save the chao garden data, the item you sold was never saved as sold, so its still there. But the rings you made will also be there since that is saved in the actual game data, not the chao garden. Easiest way to make rings.
I just started to pick this game up again and actually forgot I had an all S rank normal chao. Which means I can make pretty much any two toned chao color I want! I didn't take too long but it does take some patience. This guide is literally everything I did in the past. Well done. Should help those out who need it. If anyone else has questions, I can answer to the best of my ability.
Easy way to get rings. Buy most expensive egg you can find. Exit saving your data and come back. Sell the egg shell change something in settings vibration is easiest. Dashboard or whatever you do on your system. Saves ring you can sell it again sell it over and over and get more and more money!
I actually just have a collection of black wool hats. You can buy one for 20,000 rings and sell each for 5,000. So, I built up a large pile so I can keep selling them, making loads of money per cycle. Granted, each cycle is long and I *HAVE* to make sure to save the main game file and NOT the chao save by changing the settings then dashboarding… But it’s the easiest way to get 9,999,999 rings. It’ll take too long though, so I’m comfortable with ~100,000s of rings.
First of all, I want to say thanks for making this guide, you inspired me to make an all-S Chao in my game and I'm so close! But while I was doing so, I came across some inconsistencies within the guide, and after doing some research I'd like to add the following corrections. 1. What form a Chao evolves into actually has nothing to do with stat levels. You can have a Chao with level 5 in Swim and level 99 in Fly and still have it evolve into a Swimming type. There's actually two "stat sliders" that Chao possess - one that goes from Swim to Fly, and one that goes from Run to Power. Chao start off in the middle of both sliders, at 0. Giving the Chao animals or Chaos Drives corresponding to a certain stat will advance the Chao towards that stat on the corresponding slider (by 0.1 for animals and 0.05 for Chaos Drives). Now, Chao CANNOT go past -1 or 1 on these scales, no matter how many animals or Chaos Drives you give them. When a Chao evolves, it will evolve into whichever scale it's furthest along on. For example, if a Chao is at -1 on the Swim-Fly scale and 0 on the Run-Power scale, it will evolve into a Fly type. If both scales are equal, then the Chao will evolve into whatever stat takes priority. Fly overrides Normal (which a Chao will evolve into if it's at between -0.5 and 0.5 on both scales). Run and Power override Fly. Swim overrides ALL other stats. 2. Chao evolution is based SOLELY on time. Stamina does not affect when a Chao evolves at all. It's all to do with how much time you spend in the garden with your Chao, and takes on average around three to three and a half hours. Chao don't grow up instantly, you know. You have to be patient. 3. The Black Market's stock changes based on the time you've spent in stages, not by completing missions. It usually takes around five minutes spent in stages (they don't have to be all in the same stage) to get it to change. Time spent on the Stage Select screen does not count. 4. A Chao's appearance is completely random. What you do to the egg before it hatches has no effect on it. Other than that, this guide is awesome and very helpful. Thank you!
Decent points, but increasing stamina DOES help to a certain point. I had my first two chao which never went to classes and I fed one of them a lot more to grind the stamina stat, and that one evolved earlier. It only helps to a certain point though. Also on point 4, Idk. I hatched 4 eggs and shook them all the minimum amount of time, and literally all 4 had the zig zag mouth and the parents both had neutral mouths, i.e. no mouth.
UndefeatableTwilight my man stamina 100% has something to do with evolution cuz im making an all S chao rn and what i do is animal glitch it in the stat i want till like level 55 and then force feed it to like level 35 and it only takes half an hour to evolve it
@@Gravioli. Well, first of all, I'm not a man. It sounds like stamina might affect it to a certain extent though, but I'm not a dataminer so I can't say for sure. I do know for a fact that stat levels have nothing to do with form, though.
ok........ here are the FASTEST WAYS for the animals in this game run: knuckles first stage ; cheetah is right on the left side by the statue's foot fly: rouge's first stage (the lagoon); peacock is on the opposite side of the robots guarding the turtle "it flies around the tall grass" swim: tail's first stage; otter there's one on top on the roof as soon and you start the level "note:::::you need the missile upgrade to get it" power: shadows second stage(i think it's sky rails) there's a gorilla on the right side as soon as you jump off the rails also note this method takes ALOT of lives as you will need to restart the stage for the animals to reappear but i'm sure with the glitch show in this video you can have all five animals saved inside your hero garden and used unlimited times =D
why not grind gold animals? you can fill up on pretty much everyone of them with specific routes. I can get a full inventory of dragons in about 5 minutes. Phoenixes are tricky cause their flying in a circle under a platform. Unicorns are the same as dragons in terms of time.
Gold animals do not guarantee a specific type when the Chao evolves. In fact, the Blue, Gold, and Black animals give random Stat influence. This gets into advanced stuff, but suffice it to say unless you are going for a Chaos Chao, then skip the Gold Animals until after your Chao has evolved. You want to control what type your Chao evolves into to upgrade its Stat if need be. If your Chao was SSSSS at birth, though, you shouldn't have to worry. Even then, they're not the fastest at any one thing.
Good video, but a few mistakes. 1. Every egg bought from the Black Market will have ABCDE in grades. Not always in that order, but you won't ever hatch a Black Market egg with a chao that has ABBCD for example. It's always ABCDE. 2. When the egg is bought, its face, grades and appearance is already set. No matter how many times the egg is shaken, it will not determine a certain face. This has been proven by the experts of Chao Island. (This also means throwing the egg against a wall will not give it a certain expression either) 3. Not really a mistake, but just a tip. Although feeding your chao fruit will speed up its evolution time, it doesn't really make the process of getting an all S chao any faster, since it adds on the extra time to reincarnate after the chao has evolved. This is why some chao reincarnate at 4 years old, and why some reincarnate at 5. This is not completely relavent since you were just breeding the chao, but a good tip for the reincarnation method. 4. Finally, I'm being really nit-picky here, but I have one last little correction to make. The Black Market resets every 15 minutes, playing a stage has nothing to do with it. All in all, a fantastic video. I enjoyed it very much :)
+It's Because Yeah it's pretty bad. Jewel chaos you can't get as there is no tiny chao garden, and for the character chao you need GBA games which can't transfer on PC. But there is Fusion's Chao Editor if you really want them.
Superfrog Gaming Yeah, the best way to play SA2B is on Steam. That way, you can easily access anything you want with Fusion's Chao Editor, or you can just play normally. I'm pretty sure the Steam version is the ported Gamecube version....? Well, if it is, that's the best version to play :)

There is a reset glitch that can get you rings much much much faster than running through the levels. Grab an item (preferably an expensive one) and go to the shop to sell. Click to sell but as soon as the "cha ching" noise sounds reset. You will have the rings from selling AND the item will be back in the garden you got it from. Not sure if this is a GameCube exclusive glitch but that's the only console I've used this on. Hopefully this saves you lots of time.
If you get enough emblems and enough rings, you can buy a black hat/ski mask from the market. This sells for 5k rings. I got rich fast once I discovered this glitch (GC) and bought the black hat.
@@Darkshock25 There's a modified version of this in the PC version that entails selling it then going to options from the pause menu and changing something to trigger the save.
The ring part can be skipped if you have a shiny black egg shell or black wool-hat, sell it and at the moment you hit sell and your ring count goes up, press the restart button. And head back to the Chao garden. You'll still have your item you sold plus the rings you sold it for.
I tried that, but it didn't work. And Once I even pressed ALL the buttons. that didn't work either. Plus, isn't it just easier to hit the reset button? (Except if your playing AC XD)
AngelX2000 Hopefully I can clarify it a little, the chao data and game data are 2 separate save files. The chao data only saves when you leave chao garden, the game data saves constantly. What you have to do is buy something (The more expensive the item you buy = The faster you'll earn money) then leave chao garden so it saves that you have the item. Then re-enter chao garden and sell the expensive item. The moment you sell the item, the game save file updates, thus saving your rings. Without leaving the chao garden, reset your game. Since you didn't leave chao garden the game doesn't save the garden file, so when you enter chao garden, the item you sold will still be there. Then you can sell the item, reset, sell item, reset, repeat til your heart's content.
I got mine from a few days of constant breeding, what I did is I didn’t save the game if I got a bad result. I restart the game and the data is unsaved so I can breed constantly without spending so many rings
@@edgarmendoza976 I find that finding an extra life in the stages you’re getting animals from so you don’t have to ever worry about losing any lives further no matter how many times you restart to get the animals in the same spot repeatedly.
You can quite easily get 10 tigers or 10 otters on Tails' Hidden base level, the countless monkey robots drop both animal types, along with penguins and skunks if you're after them. Also Sonic's Pyramid cave has access to a lot of condors and peacocks, some in crates and pipes, but mostly on the robots.
I started playing this game again recently when I saw it was on the XBL marketplace. I never realized how much of a difference an S rank made when I used to play this as a kid, but it's crazy. Needless to say, I've pretty much adopted your tips and I'm actually getting somewhere so thumbs up dude, great video!
BEST WAY TO BOOST RINGS. Buy the most expensive egg available. Once the egg hatches, save the game. Then, go back to Chao world, sell the egg, and soft reset. All the money you made selling the egg will be saved and the egg will still be in the garden so you can just sell it an soft reset over and over again.
Tosh Slenderman I don't believe so, I didn't have to do anything like that. What happens is the game automatically saves the rings you get as soon as you sell the item, but it doesn't actually save that you no longer have the item until you leave chao world, so just don't leave chao world, reset the game instead. Dylan Clay I'm saying this from my experience with the GameCube version, I unfortunately do not know how to do this on any other version. :(
+Dylan Clay yes its just like the ps3 and xbox versions simply go do all the steps BUT (here is the butter and the toast) after you sell the item you wanna press the pause button and go to options then change something if everything goes right it should say saving after you get out from the options then CLOSE THE GAME DONT DO IT IN GAME THAT SCREWS EVERYTHING INSTEAD DO IT FROM TASK MANAGER OR IF YOU PLAY IT WINDOWED (i dont play pc games) THEN PRESS THE RED X all goes good and then you just gotta hope for the best :)
Wow this game was my favorite as a kid its crazy how I played so much yet never realized how much stuff I had yet to learn. I remember my favorite chao died and I cried for days lol
Excellent video! Just a couple of helpful hints for others: 1. You don't need to finish the level to keep the animals, you can simply exit the level at any time (For Xbox, PS3, or Gamecube). 2. When you are buying eggs, go for a shiny one (I forgot if it was mentioned in the video, but it makes it much more likely to receive an S stat). 3. If you do not receive an S stat, you can always restart the game right after buying the Chao.
Best place to get the cheetah is in knuckles wild canyon stage. When you start go to the left side of the wind tunnel there is one on the ground. Less than 10 seconds a pop.
Correct. When the chao reborns, 1/10 of the stat will be given back to start with. So if you get to 99 run and have 2800 for the stat - after rebirth you will have 280 run to start with at level 0 or 1, whichever it is. This can only be used for so many rebirths to get a maximum number, so it isn't an infinite thing.

5:21 There is another exploit, NOTE: YOU NEED THE BOUNCE BRACELET I think many of those know this exploit, the super bounce! Spindash into a wall then quickly jump then right after you jump, do a bounce, if you get sent way high up into the air then the glitch works, do this glitch near the thingy where you need to use the mystic melody and you'll fly up and you have a high chance to grab into the thingy that will push you up (I'm not english sorry)
Fantastic guide! Just going to point out better animal spots for other viewers: Condors can be found very fast in Eternal Engine. There is one just to the left of where you drop into the level, in the cylinder - it takes about three or four seconds to grab. For Otters, the video's method is probably the fastest method since it can give 3-4 per run. There are also two in Prison Lane, one in a pipe and one in a hallway, that can be gotten in about 40 seconds. There's a Cheetah by the feet of the statue across the starting room of Wild Canyon (the one on the left) that takes about ten seconds to reach. Gorilla: The red mailbox to the right in the starting area of Mission Street has a Gorilla in it. It takes between five and ten seconds to get, usually.
another tip is to duplicate your game data (when you have max lives, money, and emblems) and whenever you run out of money and don't want to spend the time farming city escape just delete your game data that has no money and dupe the one with all the money and emblems on your spare memory card. It is important that you have all 180 emblems because if you have unlocked any or upgraded the ranking on any mission you will lose that too

You didn't; it is just that the odds of getting an all S is 1/64* when you are breeding chao 5&6. If you instead breed two chao from 5&6 with SSA in their grades and raise the A to an S and then breed those offspring together you will have much better odds, especially if the S's are in the same grade. ** *The odds are 1/64 because the chao have a dominate and recessive gene for their grade. The recessive is hidden but it comes from the parent. The grade that is passed down is selected randomly from either parent and the grade selected is either the dominate or the recessive also chosen at random. So you it is a 1/4 chance you get the S in the grade you like. **If instead you have S's from both parents those odds go from 1/4 to 1/2, making the odds for an all S chao go to 1/16. This is also benefited from the fact that there could be a hidden S gene. Source: I made an all S chao this weekend
@@crazyskitzo You already have all the ingredients to make your chances 1/16 if you already have chao 5 and 6. Re-bread chao 5(S/P) with chao 1(S) until you get another S rank for S/P. (very high odds) This new chao has both recessive and dominant S rank for swim now. Then bread the new chao with chao 2, until you get another 2 S rank (also very high odds). Now you have a superior chao 5 that has recessive and dominant S/P S ranks. Repeat process for Chao 6 with chao 3 and 4. Take superior chao 5 and 6 now, and breed. Should be the 1/16 chance you speak of now. Also, since all of these chao are already adults, you shouldn't have to do too much more training and evolving.
Wild Canyon also has a few cheetahs, one very close to knuckles' spawn and a one-up. If you don't mind grinding, you can just grab the one-up, pick up the cheetah, restart the level, and repeat. the one-up is on top of a pilar to the right of the spawn point, and the cheetah is at the feet of the left statue at the far end of the room
Wild Canyon has both Cheetahs and Condors. There's a cheetah on the floor in front of your spawn. There's two Condors right next to each other on the upper area of the map near the "lonely statue" section on the upper platforms. They also appear in the Chao Boxes as well. If you're into Dragons, it's easy to get two Dragons in one playthrough. One for the three chao boxes, and the other is above the "lonely statue" where you dig into the wall. It'll be to your upper left flying in a corner.

Omg thank you so much for the tip about the fallen pillar in the hero garden. 90% of my chaos will just start walking toward me when I'm trying to feed them animals repeatedly. Which causes them to pick up the animal and use it for good.. Its honestly the most annoying thing. >:[ now that I know the trick with the pillar, I'm definitely gonna be moving my chaos to the hero garden lol.
I remember having the animal Chao glitch happen and being so confused as a kid. It's so easy for it to naturally happen to you. It took me months and multiple times for it to naturally occur for me to connect the dots. What a magical experience! Hahaha.

If by transform you mean evolved/grew up, then you can't raise a stat grade until it reborns anyways. You can only raise one stat grade per life of the chao, and there is no reason to max out the stat before it grows up, as it's easier to focus on the stat you want to upgrade
There's a much faster way to get rings, but it's a glitch. Get the most expensive thing in your garden, then sell it. Trust me on this one. If you're on GC, then hit reset. Otherwise, change vibration on/off, and exit the menu. Once that happens, reset your game. Your item will still be where it was, but you will have the rings from selling it. Hope this helps!
That, and you might as well use Fusion's Chao editor to boost your rings if you are playing the Steam version of the game. (Not saying I use the editor, I raise my chaos and collect rings legitimately.) Even though I knew about this glitch before, thanks anyway! I'm sure it is a nice trick for everybody who plays on console. :]
Also, a much faster way to get rings (if you've access to this stuff) take an expensive item (IE: Shiny egg shell) and sell it, then use the "press all buttons" reset and go back to chao garden. Your expensive item will still be in the garden, but you'll keep the rings from selling it.
Note: An alternate way to get tons of Rings is: 1. Sell a valuable item in the Chao Garden (Like a shiny eggshell or watermelon) (Don't exit the Chao garden!) 2. Change some option in the Options menu, then change it back 3. Quit the game or turn off the console (Don't save!) 4. When you go back to the Black Market, you should see that your Ring count has increased, but your valuable item is still there.
Hi Siber, Thanks a bunch for this. You mentioned you hadn't tried Xbox with this method in the video - did you have a chance to try it? I'm specifically referring to the "reset if the egg created by two S-class chao" part by dashboarding. I'm not at that stage yet, but wondering if it works. Hey Siber. Thnx for the vid. This helped so much that i'll share my favorite SAB2 glitch with you. If you buy something at the shop, then turn off your game cube while the Cha-ching sound is going on, you'll get the item, but keep the rings. Can be used for free eggs OR buy&sell for money grinding.
Bunnies can be easily collected in Sonic's first stage. When you're off the board, head to the GUN boxes in the corner and somersault into them. Whistle and a bunny _should_ pop out
THIS IS SO TEDIOUS. HOW DO SO MANY PEOPLE LOVE THIS!? At least with the other emblems, the challenge gives you the urge to keep trying until you get it. The Chao garden doesn’t have the sense of urgency
Bunnies can be found on city escape. They're everywhere on that stage. Also, on radical highway, right next to the first key there's a pile of boxes and if you break those, there's either a cheetah or a hog in those. There's a few other things I noticed, but all in all, I was satisfied with the video.
I didn't know about the pillar glitch. I can see why it's a lot more efficient than petting them and then using the animal glitch, which is what I usually do. Thanks for the tips.
Skunks and raccons have the best all around, they add to all types (swim, fly, power, run), and if you keep collecting them and giving them to your Chao over and over, they'll raise your stats exponentially. They only raise 1-2 stats all around, but it'll work.
It depends. If you've evolved your chao to a chaos chao, it means it's just that - a chaos chao that won't die. However, you can also achieve this by giving your chao the Half Fish animal enough times and the flame will mean nothing

This may be a little late or irrelevant, but for people who watch this video later, I find the best place for condors is in "eternal engine" stage, which is tails' level. There is one condor on your left as soon as you enter the level. Hope this helps a little.
I once bought a green egg from the black market, and I kid you not, it had an S in run. It's other grades were D's and 1 C, but I was shocked it hatched with an S.
This really helped! Thanks! Also, in addition to Dry Lagoon, Metal Harbor is good for swim animals, there is 4 lying on the ground (Seals and Penguins) Not sure what you get if you whistle. But I prefer MH over DL, because its a Sonic level, and those are fun. xD
If you want a good animal... Well there are bunnies in City Escape! Before the pair of stairs there is a bunny in the tree near the right pair of stairs, Next there is another bunny in the little box section near the crane! Hope this helps with other Chao....
Not sure if anyone had said this before, but a better way to get Cheetahs is through Wild Canyon. There are at least 2 or 3 running around automatically, plus the pipes are usually Cheetahs and the second box has, potientally, more Cheetahs for future run type Chao. One run, and you can get about 6-8 or so. I find it much easier than Radical Highway. You can also get Condors there, as well.
Haven'T played the game in a long time but you can simply let the game run and do your own stuff instead of feeding it, the chao will either evolve or die normally although he probably won't die if he was happy.
@jap995 wait for your Chao to reincarnate and raise its b stat to an a. Then repeat and make the a into an s. Which might also be tricky to do at the same time as making it chaos because to get that you're supposed to give the Chao one of each animal
Another good way to get rings in SAB2 is to do the first mission with Rouge in Dry lagoon, all you need is the pick nails. I'm not sure about others levels, but this level has an infinite amount of rings. Just find a large open spot like with small oasis, and just dig and dig. Jump around and dig in any spot you can, you'll collect rings in bubbles. It's always random for me, sometimes I get 5 rings, 10 rings and every now and then 20 rings. You can also get lives, speed boosts, shields and ring magnets. I can get 1000 rings or more in an a hour if I'm lucky. I find it easier this way since there are few enemies, just take the few out so you don't take damage and lose your rings and dig away. It's good if you're not very good with fast pace missions like City Escape. I assume it works with other missions with rouge and knuckles, but I find it easier to do in DL since it's a wider space, after you've gotten the amount you want, simply complete the mission. If you search and find all locations of the emerald pieces as soon as you've collected your rings, finish the mission. Rinse and repeat. :D
not sure if this has been pointed out before but @ 12:57 there is a cheetah under that stack of wooden crates just next to the GUN robot, just before you pick up the chao key :)
Im playing on a gamecube. I get my chao stuck in the spot by the pillar no problem but, It still won't let me pick up the same animal and "grind" like you are doing. If you have any tips on something im doing wrong please let me know. I complete the quest everytime too with a chao key. I don't exit and go to the next stage because then I don't have any of the animals from the other 3 stages. I also thought that was just a run through of where I might find the animals easiest. TIA.
i go to wild canyon and use condors first because they are the most effective they build up i believe 3 stats at a time but the flying will be more effective than the others, so when its time to do the others i would have a headstart, only thing is you gotta build run from start
Soft reset is just start, B, and X at the same time. But thank you very much for this. If you want WAY faster rings just buy the most expensive egg, then sell the shell and soft reset. You keep the rings and the shell.
No worries. From what I have tested, this should work the exact same way (through dashboarding and possibly quitting the game on PS3?) I'm not sure how the PS3 works because I'm mainly an Xbox guy. Over the holidays I'm going to make a chaos chao, probably recording it. I'll be doing it with the HD version so all my further testing will be done there and I can let everyone know for sure.
Or constantly sell the most expensive item you have at the item shop with the ABX + Start glitch. (This is 10x better than your way because 1. Getting hit = 20 rings 2. Takes too long 3. The items are omega expensive sometimes, selling them can give you a fortune with this glitch.)
Just ported my very first chao from my GBA Sonic Advance Tiny Chao Garden to my Gamecube. It had DSDSE as it's starting stats👍👍👍 Ported some more Tiny Chao Garden Chaos over since they cost 0 Rings and appearently they have an insanely high chance to start with "S" stats. Much faster and no grinding for animals and Rings required.

This is a great guide, definitley using this one for my chao. One thing though, there is a much better way to farm rings by abusing a glitch. All you need to do is get something that sells for alot at the black market like a rare egg shell or something, go sell it, then after leaving the market, dashboard out/reset the game like you did in this guide, and you'll have kept the rings you made, and the item you sold will still be in the garden. It works because the rings you earned are saved automatically in the game's data, but because you didn't save the chao garden data, the item you sold was never saved as sold, so its still there. But the rings you made will also be there since that is saved in the actual game data, not the chao garden. Easiest way to make rings.

I just started to pick this game up again and actually forgot I had an all S rank normal chao. Which means I can make pretty much any two toned chao color I want! I didn't take too long but it does take some patience. This guide is literally everything I did in the past. Well done. Should help those out who need it.

Easy way to get rings.
Buy most expensive egg you can find.
Exit saving your data and come back.
Sell the egg shell change something in settings vibration is easiest.
Dashboard or whatever you do on your system.
Saves ring you can sell it again sell it over and over and get more and more money!
I actually just have a collection of black wool hats.
You can buy one for 20,000 rings and sell each for 5,000.
So, I built up a large pile so I can keep selling them, making loads of money per cycle.
Granted, each cycle is long and I *HAVE* to make sure to save the main game file and NOT the chao save by changing the settings then dashboarding…
But it’s the easiest way to get 9,999,999 rings.
It’ll take too long though, so I’m comfortable with ~100,000s of rings.

First of all, I want to say thanks for making this guide, you inspired me to make an all-S Chao in my game and I'm so close! But while I was doing so, I came across some inconsistencies within the guide, and after doing some research I'd like to add the following corrections.
1. What form a Chao evolves into actually has nothing to do with stat levels. You can have a Chao with level 5 in Swim and level 99 in Fly and still have it evolve into a Swimming type. There's actually two "stat sliders" that Chao possess - one that goes from Swim to Fly, and one that goes from Run to Power. Chao start off in the middle of both sliders, at 0. Giving the Chao animals or Chaos Drives corresponding to a certain stat will advance the Chao towards that stat on the corresponding slider (by 0.1 for animals and 0.05 for Chaos Drives).
Now, Chao CANNOT go past -1 or 1 on these scales, no matter how many animals or Chaos Drives you give them. When a Chao evolves, it will evolve into whichever scale it's furthest along on. For example, if a Chao is at -1 on the Swim-Fly scale and 0 on the Run-Power scale, it will evolve into a Fly type. If both scales are equal, then the Chao will evolve into whatever stat takes priority. Fly overrides Normal (which a Chao will evolve into if it's at between -0.5 and 0.5 on both scales). Run and Power override Fly. Swim overrides ALL other stats.
2. Chao evolution is based SOLELY on time. Stamina does not affect when a Chao evolves at all. It's all to do with how much time you spend in the garden with your Chao, and takes on average around three to three and a half hours. Chao don't grow up instantly, you know. You have to be patient.
3. The Black Market's stock changes based on the time you've spent in stages, not by completing missions. It usually takes around five minutes spent in stages (they don't have to be all in the same stage) to get it to change. Time spent on the Stage Select screen does not count.
4. A Chao's appearance is completely random. What you do to the egg before it hatches has no effect on it.
Other than that, this guide is awesome and very helpful. Thank you!
Decent points, but increasing stamina DOES help to a certain point. I had my first two chao which never went to classes and I fed one of them a lot more to grind the stamina stat, and that one evolved earlier. It only helps to a certain point though.
Also on point 4, Idk. I hatched 4 eggs and shook them all the minimum amount of time, and literally all 4 had the zig zag mouth and the parents both had neutral mouths, i.e. no mouth.

@@Gravioli. Well, first of all, I'm not a man. It sounds like stamina might affect it to a certain extent though, but I'm not a dataminer so I can't say for sure. I do know for a fact that stat levels have nothing to do with form, though.

ok........ here are the FASTEST WAYS for the animals in this game
run: knuckles first stage ; cheetah is right on the left side by the statue's foot
fly: rouge's first stage (the lagoon); peacock is on the opposite side of the robots guarding the turtle "it flies around the tall grass"
swim: tail's first stage; otter there's one on top on the roof as soon and you start the level "note:::::you need the missile upgrade to get it"
power: shadows second stage(i think it's sky rails) there's a gorilla on the right side as soon as you jump off the rails
also note this method takes ALOT of lives as you will need to restart the stage for the animals to reappear but i'm sure with the glitch show in this video you can have all five animals saved inside your hero garden and used unlimited times =D

why not grind gold animals? you can fill up on pretty much everyone of them with specific routes. I can get a full inventory of dragons in about 5 minutes. Phoenixes are tricky cause their flying in a circle under a platform. Unicorns are the same as dragons in terms of time.
Gold animals do not guarantee a specific type when the Chao evolves. In fact, the Blue, Gold, and Black animals give random Stat influence. This gets into advanced stuff, but suffice it to say unless you are going for a Chaos Chao, then skip the Gold Animals until after your Chao has evolved. You want to control what type your Chao evolves into to upgrade its Stat if need be. If your Chao was SSSSS at birth, though, you shouldn't have to worry. Even then, they're not the fastest at any one thing.
Good video, but a few mistakes.
1. Every egg bought from the Black Market will have ABCDE in grades. Not always in that order, but you won't ever hatch a Black Market egg with a chao that has ABBCD for example. It's always ABCDE.
2. When the egg is bought, its face, grades and appearance is already set. No matter how many times the egg is shaken, it will not determine a certain face. This has been proven by the experts of Chao Island. (This also means throwing the egg against a wall will not give it a certain expression either)
3. Not really a mistake, but just a tip. Although feeding your chao fruit will speed up its evolution time, it doesn't really make the process of getting an all S chao any faster, since it adds on the extra time to reincarnate after the chao has evolved. This is why some chao reincarnate at 4 years old, and why some reincarnate at 5. This is not completely relavent since you were just breeding the chao, but a good tip for the reincarnation method.
4. Finally, I'm being really nit-picky here, but I have one last little correction to make. The Black Market resets every 15 minutes, playing a stage has nothing to do with it.

+It's Because Yeah it's pretty bad. Jewel chaos you can't get as there is no tiny chao garden, and for the character chao you need GBA games which can't transfer on PC. But there is Fusion's Chao Editor if you really want them.

Yeah, the best way to play SA2B is on Steam. That way, you can easily access anything you want with Fusion's Chao Editor, or you can just play normally. I'm pretty sure the Steam version is the ported Gamecube version....? Well, if it is, that's the best version to play :)

There is a reset glitch that can get you rings much much much faster than running through the levels. Grab an item (preferably an expensive one) and go to the shop to sell. Click to sell but as soon as the "cha ching" noise sounds reset. You will have the rings from selling AND the item will be back in the garden you got it from. Not sure if this is a GameCube exclusive glitch but that's the only console I've used this on. Hopefully this saves you lots of time.
This works fine if you're playing the GCN version on the Wii as well
If you get enough emblems and enough rings, you can buy a black hat/ski mask from the market. This sells for 5k rings. I got rich fast once I discovered this glitch (GC) and bought the black hat.

The ring part can be skipped if you have a shiny black egg shell or black wool-hat, sell it and at the moment you hit sell and your ring count goes up, press the restart button. And head back to the Chao garden. You'll still have your item you sold plus the rings you sold it for.
For me I don't need to do it at that second. I'm playing on the original GC version on a Wii. Must be diifferent for different versions...
AngelX2000 You can still hold Start + B + X to soft reset. This works when playing on the Wii, too!
I tried that, but it didn't work. And Once I even pressed ALL the buttons. that didn't work either. Plus, isn't it just easier to hit the reset button? (Except if your playing AC XD)
AngelX2000 You don't need to do all buttons, just start+b+x, and you have to hold those three buttons for like 3 whole seconds for it to work.
AngelX2000 Hopefully I can clarify it a little, the chao data and game data are 2 separate save files. The chao data only saves when you leave chao garden, the game data saves constantly. What you have to do is buy something (The more expensive the item you buy = The faster you'll earn money) then leave chao garden so it saves that you have the item. Then re-enter chao garden and sell the expensive item. The moment you sell the item, the game save file updates, thus saving your rings. Without leaving the chao garden, reset your game. Since you didn't leave chao garden the game doesn't save the garden file, so when you enter chao garden, the item you sold will still be there. Then you can sell the item, reset, sell item, reset, repeat til your heart's content.

I got mine from a few days of constant breeding, what I did is I didn’t save the game if I got a bad result. I restart the game and the data is unsaved so I can breed constantly without spending so many rings
You can get a cheetah much faster in Wild Canyon, Knuckle's first level.
Ali Mousa radical highway is fast to get at least 3 of them.
@@edgarmendoza976 I find that finding an extra life in the stages you’re getting animals from so you don’t have to ever worry about losing any lives further no matter how many times you restart to get the animals in the same spot repeatedly.
You can quite easily get 10 tigers or 10 otters on Tails' Hidden base level, the countless monkey robots drop both animal types, along with penguins and skunks if you're after them.
Also Sonic's Pyramid cave has access to a lot of condors and peacocks, some in crates and pipes, but mostly on the robots.

I started playing this game again recently when I saw it was on the XBL marketplace. I never realized how much of a difference an S rank made when I used to play this as a kid, but it's crazy. BEST WAY TO BOOST RINGS. Buy the most expensive egg available. Once the egg hatches, save the game. Then, go back to Chao world, sell the egg, and soft reset. All the money you made selling the egg will be saved and the egg will still be in the garden so you can just sell it an soft reset over and over again.
Dont you need to go into options ghange something anything. Put save on those options then soft reset??

Tosh Slenderman I don't believe so, I didn't have to do anything like that. What happens is the game automatically saves the rings you get as soon as you sell the item, but it doesn't actually save that you no longer have the item until you leave chao world, so just don't leave chao world, reset the game instead. Dylan Clay I'm saying this from my experience with the GameCube version, I unfortunately do not know how to do this on any other version. :(

Excellent video! Just a couple of helpful hints for others:
1. You don't need to finish the level to keep the animals, you can simply exit the level at any time (For Xbox, PS3, or Gamecube).
2. When you are buying eggs, go for a shiny one (I forgot if it was mentioned in the video, but it makes it much more likely to receive an S stat).
3. If you do not receive an S stat, you can always restart the game right after buying the Chao.
Best place to get the cheetah is in knuckles wild canyon stage. When you start go to the left side of the wind tunnel there is one on the ground. Less than 10 seconds a pop.
Correct. When the chao reborns, 1/10 of the stat will be given back to start with. So if you get to 99 run and have 2800 for the stat - after rebirth you will have 280 run to start with at level 0 or 1, whichever it is. This can only be used for so many rebirths to get a maximum number, so it isn't an infinite thing.

Spindash into a wall then quickly jump then right after you jump, do a bounce, if you get sent way high up into the air then the glitch works, do this glitch near the thingy where you need to use the mystic melody and you'll fly up and you have a high chance to grab into the thingy that will push you up (I'm not english sorry)
This is not a tip for beginners, keep that in mind. They’re not gonna always try to do that, it’s too much effort for them to do.

Just going to point out better animal spots for other viewers:
Condors can be found very fast in Eternal Engine. There is one just to the left of where you drop into the level, in the cylinder - it takes about three or four seconds to grab.
For Otters, the video's method is probably the fastest method since it can give 3-4 per run. There are also two in Prison Lane, one in a pipe and one in a hallway, that can be gotten in about 40 seconds.
There's a Cheetah by the feet of the statue across the starting room of Wild Canyon (the one on the left) that takes about ten seconds to reach.
Gorilla: The red mailbox to the right in the starting area of Mission Street has a Gorilla in it. It takes between five and ten seconds to get, usually.
another tip is to duplicate your game data (when you have max lives, money, and emblems) and whenever you run out of money and don't want to spend the time farming city escape just delete your game data that has no money and dupe the one with all the money and emblems on your spare memory card. It is important that you have all 180 emblems because if you have unlocked any or upgraded the ranking on any mission you will lose that too

You didn't; it is just that the odds of getting an all S is 1/64* when you are breeding chao 5&6. If you instead breed two chao from 5&6 with SSA in their grades and raise the A to an S and then breed those offspring together you will have much better odds, especially if the S's are in the same grade. **
*The odds are 1/64 because the chao have a dominate and recessive gene for their grade. The recessive is hidden but it comes from the parent. The grade that is passed down is selected randomly from either parent and the grade selected is either the dominate or the recessive also chosen at random. So you it is a 1/4 chance you get the S in the grade you like.
**If instead you have S's from both parents those odds go from 1/4 to 1/2, making the odds for an all S chao go to 1/16. This is also benefited from the fact that there could be a hidden S gene.

@@crazyskitzo You already have all the ingredients to make your chances 1/16 if you already have chao 5 and 6.
Re-bread chao 5(S/P) with chao 1(S) until you get another S rank for S/P. (very high odds) This new chao has both recessive and dominant S rank for swim now. Then bread the new chao with chao 2, until you get another 2 S rank (also very high odds). Now you have a superior chao 5 that has recessive and dominant S/P S ranks.
Repeat process for Chao 6 with chao 3 and 4.
Take superior chao 5 and 6 now, and breed. Should be the 1/16 chance you speak of now. Also, since all of these chao are already adults, you shouldn't have to do too much more training and evolving.
Wild Canyon also has a few cheetahs, one very close to knuckles' spawn and a one-up. If you don't mind grinding, you can just grab the one-up, pick up the cheetah, restart the level, and repeat.
the one-up is on top of a pilar to the right of the spawn point, and the cheetah is at the feet of the left statue at the far end of the room

Wild Canyon has both Cheetahs and Condors.
There's a cheetah on the floor in front of your spawn.
There's two Condors right next to each other on the upper area of the map near the "lonely statue" section on the upper platforms.
They also appear in the Chao Boxes as well.
If you're into Dragons, it's easy to get two Dragons in one playthrough. One for the three chao boxes, and the other is above the "lonely statue" where you dig into the wall. It'll be to your upper left flying in a corner.
Only give it animals/fruit/drives with a hero character (sonic, knuckles, tails)

Omg thank you so much for the tip about the fallen pillar in the hero garden. 90% of my chaos will just start walking toward me when I'm trying to feed them animals repeatedly. Which causes them to pick up the animal and use it for good.. Its honestly the most annoying thing. >:[ now that I know the trick with the pillar, I'm definitely gonna be moving my chaos to the hero garden lol.
I remember having the animal Chao glitch happen and being so confused as a kid. It's so easy for it to naturally happen to you. It took me months and multiple times for it to naturally occur for me to connect the dots. What a magical experience! Hahaha.

I've played this it's release and I didn't know it was called Chao as plural
If by transform you mean evolved/grew up, then you can't raise a stat grade until it reborns anyways. You can only raise one stat grade per life of the chao, and there is no reason to max out the stat before it grows up, as it's easier to focus on the stat you want to upgrade
There's a much faster way to get rings, but it's a glitch.
Get the most expensive thing in your garden, then sell it. Trust me on this one. If you're on GC, then hit reset. Otherwise, change vibration on/off, and exit the menu. Once that happens, reset your game. Your item will still be where it was, but you will have the rings from selling it. Hope this helps!
That, and you might as well use Fusion's Chao editor to boost your rings if you are playing the Steam version of the game. (Not saying I use the editor, I raise my chaos and collect rings legitimately.)

Also, a much faster way to get rings (if you've access to this stuff) take an expensive item (IE: Shiny egg shell) and sell it, then use the "press all buttons" reset and go back to chao garden. Your expensive item will still be in the garden, but you'll keep the rings from selling it.
You can go to Wild Canyon and find a cheetah at the start and you can keep doing it. It's how I got my run to level 99.I hope I helped :)
Don’t forget that restarting can take an extra life, so you’ll need to find one in that stage to get it back quickly after.
Note: An alternate way to get tons of Rings is:
1. Sell a valuable item in the Chao Garden (Like a shiny eggshell or watermelon) (Don't exit the Chao garden!)
2. Change some option in the Options menu, then change it back
3. Quit the game or turn off the console (Don't save!)
4. When you go back to the Black Market, you should see that your Ring count has increased, but your valuable item is still there.

Hey Siber. Thnx for the vid. This helped so much that i'll share my favorite SAB2 glitch with you. If you buy something at the shop, then turn off your game cube while the Cha-ching sound is going on, you'll get the item, but keep the rings. Can be used for free eggs OR buy&sell for money grinding.

THIS IS SO TEDIOUS. HOW DO SO MANY PEOPLE LOVE THIS!? At least with the other emblems, the challenge gives you the urge to keep trying until you get it. The Chao garden doesn’t have the sense of urgency

Bunnies can be found on city escape. They're everywhere on that stage. Also, on radical highway, right next to the first key there's a pile of boxes and if you break those, there's either a cheetah or a hog in those. There's a few other things I noticed, but all in all, I was satisfied with the video.

Cosmic Wall has a bunny located right at the beginning of the stage. This can be easily farmed and get about 3 bunnies in less than 30 seconds.

I didn't know about the pillar glitch. I can see why it's a lot more efficient than petting them and then using the animal glitch, which is what I usually do. Thanks for the tips.
Skunks and raccons have the best all around, they add to all types (swim, fly, power, run), and if you keep collecting them and giving them to your Chao over and over, they'll raise your stats exponentially. They only raise 1-2 stats all around, but it'll work.

It depends. If you've evolved your chao to a chaos chao, it means it's just that - a chaos chao that won't die. However, you can also achieve this by giving your chao the Half Fish animal enough times and the flame will mean nothing

Yep! If anything, you can raise a different stat on that chao to help give you a higher stat later. It's up to you.
This may be a little late or irrelevant, but for people who watch this video later, I find the best place for condors is in "eternal engine" stage, which is tails' level. There is one condor on your left as soon as you enter the level. Hope this helps a little.
I once bought a green egg from the black market, and I kid you not, it had an S in run. It's other grades were D's and 1 C, but I was shocked it hatched with an S.
This really helped! Thanks! Also, in addition to Dry Lagoon, Metal Harbor is good for swim animals, there is 4 lying on the ground (Seals and Penguins) Not sure what you get if you whistle. But I prefer MH over DL, because its a Sonic level, and those are fun. xD
If you want a good animal... Well there are bunnies in City Escape! Before the pair of stairs there is a bunny in the tree near the right pair of stairs, Next there is another bunny in the little box section near the crane! Hope this helps with other Chao....
Even though it's not an all S chao, my younger sister had a chao named Rapid in which it had 2 Ss, 2 As, and a B.
Not sure if anyone had said this before, but a better way to get Cheetahs is through Wild Canyon. There are at least 2 or 3 running around automatically, plus the pipes are usually Cheetahs and the second box has, potientally, more Cheetahs for future run type Chao. One run, and you can get about 6-8 or so. I find it much easier than Radical Highway. You can also get Condors there, as well.
Haven'T played the game in a long time but you can simply let the game run and do your own stuff instead of feeding it, the chao will either evolve or die normally although he probably won't die if he was happy.
@jap995 wait for your Chao to reincarnate and raise its b stat to an a. Then repeat and make the a into an s. Which might also be tricky to do at the same time as making it chaos because to get that you're supposed to give the Chao one of each animal
Another good way to get rings in SAB2 is to do the first mission with Rouge in Dry lagoon, all you need is the pick nails. I'm not sure about others levels, but this level has an infinite amount of rings. Just find a large open spot like with small oasis, and just dig and dig. Jump around and dig in any spot you can, you'll collect rings in bubbles. It's always random for me, sometimes I get 5 rings, 10 rings and every now and then 20 rings. You can also get lives, speed boosts, shields and ring magnets. I can get 1000 rings or more in an a hour if I'm lucky. I find it easier this way since there are few enemies, just take the few out so you don't take damage and lose your rings and dig away. It's good if you're not very good with fast pace missions like City Escape. I assume it works with other missions with rouge and knuckles, but I find it easier to do in DL since it's a wider space, after you've gotten the amount you want, simply complete the mission. If you search and find all locations of the emerald pieces as soon as you've collected your rings, finish the mission. Rinse and repeat. :D
not sure if this has been pointed out before but @ 12:57 there is a cheetah under that stack of wooden crates just next to the GUN robot, just before you pick up the chao key

Im playing on a gamecube. I get my chao stuck in the spot by the pillar no problem but, It still won't let me pick up the same animal and "grind" like you are doing. If you have any tips on something im doing wrong please let me know. I complete the quest everytime too with a chao key. I don't exit and go to the next stage because then I don't have any of the animals from the other 3 stages. I also thought that was just a run through of where I might find the animals easiest. TIA.
@Seb C I'm pretty sure it's from breeding a lime green and a shiny white. Some effects can be combined with a color while breeding
i go to wild canyon and use condors first because they are the most effective they build up i believe 3 stats at a time but the flying will be more effective than the others, so when its time to do the others i would have a headstart, only thing is you gotta build run from start
Soft reset is just start, B, and X at the same time. But thank you very much for this. If you want WAY faster rings just buy the most expensive egg, then sell the shell and soft reset. You keep the rings and the shell.
No worries. From what I have tested, this should work the exact same way (through dashboarding and possibly quitting the game on PS3?) I'm not sure how the PS3 works because I'm mainly an Xbox guy. Over the holidays I'm going to make a chaos chao, probably recording it. I'll be doing it with the HD version so all my further testing will be done there and I can let everyone know for sure.

Or constantly sell the most expensive item you have at the item shop with the ABX + Start glitch.
(This is 10x better than your way because 1. Getting hit = 20 rings 2. Takes too long 3. The items are omega expensive sometimes, selling them can give you a fortune with this glitch.)

Just ported my very first chao from my GBA Sonic Advance Tiny Chao Garden to my Gamecube.
It had DSDSE as it's starting stats👍👍👍
Ported some more Tiny Chao Garden Chaos over since they cost 0 Rings and appearently they have an insanely high chance to start with "S" stats.
Much faster and no grinding for animals and Rings required.
This guide is only for the GameCube without the GBA.
