Oftentimes we forget about the beauty of our city. We become entirely fixated on how late a bus line might be one day, whether that pothole we saw last month has been fixed, or angry that our expectations at a large event weren’t met. In the end, the city we want to live in is the one we construct. It’s one molded by hope, love, and, sometimes, the smell of lilac trees in early spring. This is our love letter to Sofia - a city that neither of us grew up in, but one that, like a letter from a forgotten love, we’ve read over and over again and reminded ourselves of how, for that one moment in time, we saw everything brighter, happier, and, in a way, endless.
This is the start of a conversation.
We hope you’ll fall in love as well, whether that be for 12 minutes or a lifetime.
The film "To Sofia, With Love" aims to increase the curiosity of future tourists to the city and is supported by Mastercard as part of the brand's initiative to digitize the stories of Sofia and its people that have not been told around the world. It is a personal and documentary story of iconic and distinctive urban symbols of Sofia and a culmination of the #soWelcometoSofia project on the #soSofia platform, which explores 30 of the most characteristic symbols from antiquity, modernity and nature of Sofia and presents them to arriving tourists in a rough installation at Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport. The project was implemented with the support of the cultural heritage socialization program of the Sofia Municipality, Sofia Airport and Mastercard.

I’m not Bulgarian but have lived in Sofia on & off since 2011. I know many locals may feel this is not representative of the true reality of the city but for me you captured the very essence of what I see, feel & experience in Sofia. The golden light, warm interpersonal connections, poetic adventure and vibrancy engulfs me every time leaving my own home city of Melbourne Australia quite lack lustre to return to. I loved this film and see Sofia through the same positive rose tinted lens, there’s a lot of hardship and negatives to every city, but we must not overlook the beauty, or we may lose the good we have in the race to better ourselves & instead become a plastic city with no heart.

I m from Sofia just came back from a visit with my brother.Beautiful city and a beautiful country .Made a huge mistake moving to Canada in the 90 s definitely going back home .Sick of the cold and no culture in Ottawa

It turned out very nice, with nice shots and a pretty story, of course as a Bulgarian we are very critical, but it is hard to put all Sofia is in 12 minutes. For me, it is the best city to live in within Bulgaria. The saddest part is that the Vitosha mountain tourist infrastructure is not even near to what it should be for a mountain that is next to the capital city.

I'm seriously stunned. I recognized somebody in the video I know, and I also really love Coffee Syndicate, which I found hilarious to see in there. I also knew this Barber, as we have walked past by it and thought: "Wow, that looks great". The film leaves me in a want to explore the city even more. I am so amazed! And don't get me started on the production quality. The quality is outstanding! The warm look feels like a hug from summer itself. The frequent drone shots let you dive even deeper into the city. Absolutely breathtaking video! Loved it!

Great work. I am afraid it doesn’t really capture the true spirit of the city though… visitors expecting to see the same stuff in real life would be a bit disappointed, I’m afraid

It’s trying a bit too hard hipster guy. Do you plan on ignoring the soviet style flats that most of us live in….big mistake. The best part of Berlin is not the pretty centre but the grungy eastern side. Don’t ignore the ugly, it’s got it’s own value. Gems are only precious because they are hard to find.

What`s presented here is emotional, but it looks like an advertisement of something, that doesn`t fit the expectations, when you buy it, that doesn`t reflect the value for money....

Добре се е получило, но човек не трябва да забравя от къде е тръгнал … Такъв късометражен филм трябва да се направи за родните градове, за местата, които тънат в забрава, а не за град, който е пълен с провинционалисти, с почти никаква история и забързано ежедневие
Само че Мартин вече има 50 епизода, от които всеки е за различен град в България. Можеш да ги откриеш на неговата страница. :)
Започни ти с твоя роден град, в който няма провинциалисти и е пълен с история. Даже, ако питаш пра баба си или баба си, може да се окаже, че и вашият род е бил провинциален.
