I got my horse from an auction almost 4 years ago. I payed under $500 and I really got and amazing horse. They told me she was 8 and she was about 3 so she didn’t have much training on her at all. Most of the time when you get a horse that cheap you have lots of extra expenses but she didn’t need much.
Love this! I think the horse industry is getting more and more expensive and unattainable for many horses but this proves that it IS possible to make getting into horses affordable.
My horses were pretty expensive as they were already well trained jumpers, but my aunt got one of her horses for under 5$ from a rescue and he is literally the sweetest horse I have ever met and is better behaved then most of my horses. He is great with kids and can jump 4 feet no problem. This truly proving horses can be cheap and still amazing
Found out long ago horse pricing is nothing to do with how 'sweet' a horse is, it's more about their breeding and their training. Basically all their monetary worth is the human labour behind the horse.
This is very helpful, we have owned a thoroughbred for 7 years now, and I just started leasing a pony.I’ve been wanting get my own horse for a long time. This was very helpful being able to see you experience.
I got my horse off a lady who posted an ad on FB. He wasn’t a rescue but he did have issues that essentially cost me a lot over the years, blood, sweat & tears too! however he’s 22 now and still going strong! I only paid £400 for him as a project and it was the best thing I’ve ever done! He is my soul horse and isn’t my whole world but the reason my world is whole ❤
I have two and a half horses and I think the most expensive was the mimi mule I bought from auction for $260.00. The other two are Mustangs that I bought through the online auction for$125.00 and $225.00. Everyone was unhandled and I have fun training them. I enjoy watching your videos, they are helpful as well as entertaining.
I got my first horse 3 years ago through my instructor and he was free. He was old when I got him but he taught me so much and was my best friend until his arthritis got so bad that we had to put him down a couple weeks ago. 3 months ago I got a qh gelding for $2500 and he has turned out to be amazing! We also got our Arab/ welsh pony from our instructor free
@@lizxu322 it is funny when put like that! One of them was not hers although (she did own him years previously). She was friends with the buyer and when the lady couldn’t keep him anymore my instructor told her that the horse would be perfect for me ( he was!!) and I got him for free because he was old. My instructors family is good friends with my family and so when their lesson pony was ready to be retired we took him for a working retirement.
Yep, buying them is definitely the cheapest part 😄. We have the same as you a 13.1hh pony and a mini companion. Lucky to have them on our property. Yes they can stretch the budget but I can't imagine life without them 🥰
When my sisters got a quarter horse, a painted pony came with the deal (mid 70's) with western tac. His name was Apache and because I was into my Indian heritage because my grandfather was half Micmac, I loved that pony. I was 12 and he preferred a blanket to a saddle. I would ride him all over with just a crude bridal and reins. Although he was a trikster, I loved that pony!
I had a big financial shock when I bought my first gelding, Johnny. For him I only paid £750 but after owning him a month I started noticing 'coltish' behaviour from him.. I got my vet out to examine him and found out he wasn't actually gelded at all! Both previous owners told me he was gelded AND his passport stated he was too! So I now had to pay for vets examinations, transport to and from veterinary clinic and the procedure itself (one testical was still retained). Total cost (£1600) in the first month! Huge shock and luckily I had money saved aside for emergency 😅. He's an angel now lol 🐴
Very interesting stuff. I live in Australia and have 3 ponies and 2 regular horses. We have to / choose to vaccinate against Hendra virus. We don’t have rabies here but you should be glad you don’t have Hendra. It’s passed from bats to horses to humans. Humans who get it usually die no questions asked. If a horse gets it they are put down along with many nearby horses. It’s not very common due to these extreme measures. We choose to vaccinate every year but it isn’t cheap. Along with dental work and vacation we probably spend $1500 AU every year. I think the dental work is the best thing we can do for our horses and never miss a visit. They all like the drugs the vet uses 🤠

I think there’s a pretty wide range in America. There are a lot of options for getting horses cheap through rescues, off the track, FB groups. But for this reason, I also think there’s a lot of people buying horses who really don’t have the finances to maintain them long term. Then we get a lot of cases of neglect. A well trained riding horse is usually in the low 5-figures here.
Me and my mom just got new horses my was 5,000 same with her we get a good deal on board it two for each horse we help buy the feed I lease my extra show horse for about 100 a month but we spend a lot with get fairer dentist my lease horses X-rays
I'm always surprised to hear the vet costs quoted in horse videos. I pay $100-$200 to take my *dog* TO the vet. I could get one to come out and treat a horse for the same $?!
Pinto pony…the term PAINT is used properly for stock horse breed.. and there by the Paint horse breed… started in 1965. like quarter horse and or thoroughbred crosses.line..
I’m of Mexico and your more expensive horse in here cost like 12,000$ and in Mexico at least an untrained horse in here costs 20,000$ and my horse cost 170,000 but we could buy it for 150,000$. Now you know people always buy horses in other countries

But for this reason, I also think there’s a lot of people buying horses who really don’t have the finances to maintain them long term. Then we get a lot of cases of neglect. A well trained riding horse is usually in the low 5-figures here.
We do not have Any wild horses i Denmark at all.
Maybee that could be a factor too.
....and our racetrack indtryk is qiute small.
@@liseskadhauge14 a 3’ horse is easy 60k + in the states. A good show horse costs six figures or more.
Me and my mom just got new horses my was 5,000 same with her we get a good deal on board it two for each horse we help buy the feed I lease my extra show horse for about 100 a month but we spend a lot with get fairer dentist my lease horses X-rays
Do you still have all the horses?
Love the videos!
Jealous man, I do jumpers and eq, a good horse usually starts at 10k and can go all the way up to 250k+!
My horse was $300 and she’s great lol and a great deal
I'm always surprised to hear the vet costs quoted in horse videos. I pay $100-$200 to take my *dog* TO the vet. I could get one to come out and treat a horse for the same $?!
your most expensive horse: 1.500. a normal horse in the netherlands: 5000 euro
Ok but in greece u get a competition 17hh show jumping dressage horse 8 year old for 15k and it’s hilarious
'get rid of her?' 😞
Pinto pony…the term PAINT is used properly for stock horse breed.. and there by the Paint horse breed… started in 1965. like quarter horse and or thoroughbred crosses.line..
Tucker..❤️❤️❤️❤️
I pay 85 dollars for all four shoes
I’m of Mexico and your more expensive horse in here cost like 12,000$ and in Mexico at least an untrained horse in here costs 20,000$ and my horse cost 170,000 but we could buy it for 150,000$. Now you know people always buy horses in other countries
Thanks for laying $$ on the line.
Why do I always, ALWAYS when I'm watching your videos get unskipable ads.. about cars. *Why?!*
Because you don't subscribe to UA-cam premium.

I’d keep Dolly and sell or give away the rest
Not a fan of miniatures sorry 😢
Love love love ponies that you can ride
Love tucker but as you e said in other video he’s getting anxious after years of having him
I’ve had horses and it’s better to sell them or give them away than having to make the hard decisions later to put them down when they are older
Time money 💰 and quality of life for yourself and the horse
Vet bills on credit cards
Spent thousands
Sorry 😢 to offend but it’s reality over emotion
Cheers 🥂
Ride on 🐎🐎🐎🐎
