After you plugged the lan cable into the back of the homerun hd, what did you plug the other end of the lan cable to?!!!! Don't you just connect to the homerun hd with the shield tv? What do you need the lan cable for? !!

I have the same equipment but I get a constant clicking / hissing sound with the hdhomerun app on nvidia shield tv. It works fine on windows 10 though.

Guys, the HD HomeRun device doesn't receive anything over the internet. It takes the signal from your antenna and broadcasts it out to your home's local network. That's the only thing the device is using the ethernet port for. Now the HD HomeRun app that you'd run on you NVidia Shield (or other Android TV or compatible SmartTV device) would go out to the internet to retrieve channel guide info and poster art but that's it.

If your Vizio has an HD Homerun app, it will capture over the network. Otherwise you'll need a device with HD homerun app to display the live tv feed. Or you can purchase a TV tuner since your TV is only a display.

I hooked up my hdhome run and downloaded the home run app with no problem and got a decent amount of channels. but the problem is I've got no sound. when I turn the volume up on my remote a message comes up saying ( this app is set to sourround sound. use the TV remote to ajust the volume. but it doesn't turn the volume up. any ideas of the way to fix this? any help would be appreciated

I get great picture quality but can't seem to pull sound any other ideas. in the message on the screen when I try to use my volume it says this app is set to surround sound, use TV remote. any ideas why this is happening. is it something related to the app?

Use the same setup using Plex and this will have a free DVR if you have Plex Plus. This works great for me but I'm using HDHomerun with my cable company. Also could use Nvidia Shield with Live Channels app for free over the air DVR with this setup. Search Lon.tv if you need reviews.
David Tuckey Android TV (Nvidia shield) has an app called live channels this app has a Full feature DVR that has Timeshifting as well, all you need is to add an external hard drive to your shield and you are done.
HD HomeRun Connect offers a DVR feature. You just pay a little extra and get an external storage device like a WD Mycloud box and you can DVR to it. I do it all the time.
How is it that I'm picking up 30 channels just using a indoor antenna to tv connection, and no matter where I position my antenna hooked up to hdhomerun it is picking up the same 3 channels? This makes no sense out all. Talk about a waist of money.Picking up 10 times the channels just using a regular indoor antenna to tv connection.Have the same exact setup as the guy in video. Have the HDhomerun,Antenna and Shield TV.
It’s nothing but a digital receiver that uses your network as a transport. You could actually just get a antenna for your TV, and switch to that port for live tv. All the digital features are build into your Tv, most people already have a digital receiver on the tv. So your streaming your on the air TV signals. Not really something that I would consider.. Your actually a mini cable company lol.
Markinpuff what he isn't showing you is when you use it from live channels to pick up stations, you can dvr with it. Attach an adopted storage unit and your shield can now dvr.

I love my Shield and am now looking into doing this, but what do I do if I have like 6 TVs? Do I need to get 3 of antennas and 3 tuners?

HD Homerun connects via ethernet but afterwards you can see it on your network with pc even pc is connected via wifi
