ERRATA: It appears as though Nvidia switched back to Bluetooth for the controllers, not Wifi direct as I indicated in the video. I'll try to find out definitively on that.
Lon.TV I know these support Google Apps, but do they support like HBO go, TNT go, and on demand for channels?? I've been trying to decide if this would be good enough to not have to turn to my laptop to catch up on shows on demand.
There is around a 200ms lag with the original Shield TV controller with emulators, noticable on nes/snes on super mario and in mame in games like tetris and pacman. I'm guessing the move to bluetooth doesn't reduce this.
Most of the Nvidia Shield reviews I have watched so far are dumbed down or hype. Lon, on the other hand tells you what's what w/o the bullshit. Good job!
Just a heads up, if someone doesn't like the Dpad on the shield controllers you can use the WiiU Pro controller with the Shield. You have to buy a cheap extra adapter (mayflash) but then the WiiU Pro controller will fully function on the shield and it's great especially due to the great Dpad it has.
(FYI to anyone looking to buy the older model 16gb shield tv (with the old remote included, no less) BestBuy is having a clearance sale on them right now for $189. It's a pretty great deal if you'd rather get an old model while they're still available. They don't advertise the included remote on the product page for whatever reason, but I've ordered several and they always come with one.) Great video! I've had a love/hate relationship with these android consoles -- the most notable being the OUYA and Shield TV -- and your reviews are always terrific in their depth and objectivity. I've gotta say though, after watching this, and weighing the pros and cons out of the new 16gb shield vs the old, it's difficult to justify getting this new model over the old one if you have a choice. It seems like you get more bang for your buck with the old ones, and personally, the controller and remote just seem way more solid. It does feel a bit bulky at times, but the aesthetic is so much sleeker (I love capacitive buttons) and the d-pad appears to be a markedly better design. All in all, the new shield tv design (at least the 16gb model) seems to be almost solely a cost cutting measure, without much actual additional benefit for the users themselves. I guess you could argue that the included remote counts as an added benefit, but if you order/ordered the original shield from Bestbuy, it comes with one as well. I think it might have been a better idea if Nvidia had kept the remote separate while dropping the price point to about $150. Just my 2 cents, in any case.
One thing added on the new remote is apparently an I/R blaster and in setup you can apparently set it to output I/R for popular TVs, receivers, sound bars, and the like. It might even auto-detect some setups. So that might be handy for some people. This is from reading elsewhere as I don't have a new gen model myself.
Thanks Lon for the great comparison and depth of information on the product. I really like how you have multiple videos on different products and how you use it. Bought one myself and everyone at home is very happy with it as well. Cheers!
Thanks for reporting on the IR port. Sad to hear its missing on this model as I use a Harmony remote to control my TV, HTS, and current Shield TV in my living room. I was hoping to replace my MiBox in my bedroom (TV, soundbar, PC, MiBox) with one of these, but I like to use one remote to control all devices.
Hey Lon, wanted to share a "hidden feature" that I haven't seen covered yet. To start off, I have the OG 16gb & 500gb. Remotes for both of them as well. I have tested this on each machine and it works. This feature is in the volume bar on the remote. While playing a video in Plex, Kodi, UA-cam ( the only ones I've tested so far) if you double tap in the volume slide area, it will pause/un-pause playback. I can't find a listing, video, other info on it and I stumbled upon this by just fooling around yesterday. Thought I would share this lil gem with the community.
Hey Lon, you mention using SPMC to watch your MKV files and get the lossless audio. Does using the Plex server on the Shield also work with lossless audio? I know the Shield now supports lossless audio, and according to Plex's website it allows passthrough of lossless audio, so in theory it works. But the impression I got is that you tend to use Plex more for streaming and transcoding to outside the home and SPMC for straight MKV playback inside the home. Just wondering if there was some limitation of Plex on the Shield that kept it from being an all-in-one, ie why use SPMC if Plex can do it all?
First of all, I'd say your review of the new shield TV 2017 is finally out. I've watched a dozen unboxing&reviews from other UA-cam channels but your opinion is what I need and trust most. I followed you when I first started searching for reviews on the old shield TV in last April, 2016 when I got a second-hand Pro. Second, I need your advice on whether to upgrade my old shield pro to 5.0 firmware. I rooted it (3.2 Firmware) and installed full android 6.0 ROM in order to have more apps. Then I regretted for not being able to use the controller wirelessly. When I go back home next month, I would install the Stock ROM 3.2 back (and maybe upgrade it to Stock ROM 3.3). It's still possible to root and install custom ROM from 3.3, but if I upgrade to Stock ROM 5.0 with Android 7.0, rooting would seem impossible in a long time. Should I stay with Stock ROM 3.2/3.3 (6.0 Marshmallow) or Upgrade to Stock ROM 5.0 (7.0 Nougat)? Root access is quite useful, though... Third, I have a LG-G5 H850 android phone which has WiFi direct and IR remote functions. I wonder if I could use my phone to control the Shield TV pro or pair up with the shield controller. I bought this phone after I sent my shield tv pro back home so I din't have the chance to try these out myself, yet.
I had the shield but sold it and bought a 4k fire box. Android TV in UK market is pretty bad with even basic TV apps missing. Great machine but if you're not in the USA, then I'd opt for the Amazon fire tv. No regrets so far. Miss the headphones jack in the remote though 😥.
What do you think about the new remote versus the remote that comes with the Mi box? I prefer the volume buttons on the Mi box remote versus the touch volume control on the new Shield. Whenever I pickup the new remote I feel like I have to grab it a certain way to not change the volume.
Hi Lon, I'm a massive fan of this console, and have the original, delighted they relaunched it, although the more I see of the new one, the more it appears cheaper looking in terms of build quality, it looks lighter in weight, more cheap plastic looking, the original just oozed premium, this one really doesn't, making look more like the quality of any mainstream unit, same with the remote, fancy removing the headphone Jack!! You used to be able to wander through the house with it in your pocket wearing headphones, I wonder if the option to purchase the original remote will be there? I guess the gamepad is better, again though its looking light and cheap, the original felt premium.
Thanks for the comparison man, I have the original one and was wondering if the new one offered anything new. My original Shield TV is my primary media center and use it to stream games from my PC to projector.. very sweet.
The original Shield TV is how I found this channel. I got rid of that box but stayed for the awesome reviews. What software do you use to rip your Blu-ray discs?
Good to have you here as always! I'm using MakeMKV - here's a video detailing what I'm doing with home theater stuff: ua-cam.com/video/9uW6XhU9aNA/v-deo.html
I'm currently using tablo DVR to get my local channels. How you like the hdhomerun device? How do you set it up to access your local channels onto the shield?
Thanks, Lon. It's an awesome device! I think the biggest difference will be the price point which will bring a lot more new Shield owners like me looking for info. I've tried all the streaming boxes, except for the newest Apple TV, including one of the recent Chinese Android 6.0 TV boxes and this works so much better. I had my old Macbook Air as a Plex Server for quite awhile and this is doing better. It does a nice job with my HDHomeRun also. I'm wondering if by adding external storage it could also handle HDHomeRun DVR duties? I'm going back now to review your previous Shield videos. If I understood correctly the video where you talked about running the HDHomeRun DVR was on a 500GB Shield and not the 16GB version...thus the question.
Lon have you had any problems with the shield TV(old or new) with the sound cutting in and out . I have the 1st gen and the new 2nd gen and it has been doing it on both. most of the time to fix it i would unplug everything and then plug it back in to fix it but not everytime
i was lookin to get a 2nd nvidia at home as i loved the 1st gen (standard edition) and as much the 2nd gen looks awesome and smaller for better spacing, im a bit bummed with not having the micro sd card and the remote with no headphone input, ill just get another 1st gen and we are set lol thanks for the review and comparison lon!
Question. Hopefully you have the time to answer it. I've read in many forums that the Shield has one of the worst upscale features that can't be turned off. So for example; 1080p content being played off a USB stick gets upscaled and my 4k TV upscales that video again, resulting in a horribly washed out video. Many folks were saying that the 4k TVs do a much better job at upscaling. If you set up your Shield at 1080p, then obviously you have to switch it back on to 4k when watching 4k contents and that's a big inconvenience. Have you experienced anything similar? I'm yet to pull the trigger on buying this thing because of the above issue and my TV being a 4k unit. I'm leaning more to purchasing the Mi Box right now, but that may change depending on your answer. Thanks for the great review videos!
Thanks for the answer. Maybe it's a crapshoot due to the sheer number of TV brands and models. I'm guessing I should probably take the safe route and go with the Mi Box.
I actually prefer the d-pad because it's more accurate to me. Also there is a feature in the accessories menu to swap the play and home button if you want. I actually prefer the size of the old controller but many people felt it was too big. I like with the new controller it turns off on a timer and turns back on when you lift it. Also the battery life is way better. Oh and the new 16gb also is missing the power button.
Hey Lon, I finally got an Nvidia Shield. Seems to work well. I just loaded Kodi 17.0. This is supposed to fix the HDHome "Intermittent no audio" issue I've been experiencing within Kodi. 16.x However, I'm EXTREMLY Disappointed with the Nvidia Shield with one aspect. There is no numeric input! I realize the Nvidia Shield remote and controller don't have numeric input, but other universal IR remotes do. I use a Logitech Harmony One remote and have been using it for years. I've already left feedback with Nvidia. However, I'm skeptical as to whether I'll see any action from them. You may have mentioned this in one of your videos, but I must have missed it. Scrolling through the long list of channels is a pain. Many times it's easier to input the channel number. It would be nice to have both. I' m trying to get away from Windows 7-Media Center on the Intel Nuc, The Nuc and Kodi / HDHomerun work fine with Windows 10, but I wanted a better interface than the native HDHomerun channel listing. The Live channels grid within Nvidia Shield seems to have a better interface but the Record engine doesn't work with HDHomerun. Also the interface could be improved. I watch your UA-cam videos regularly and enjoy them. You have a professional knack for this stuff and set the "Standard" for other UA-cam publishers. Keep up the good work. Kirk
Lon , can you comment on the general picture quality of Nvidia shield tv ? I have read that it sucks for 4k ..at least for the original Shield. Is this true for the new one? i have heard banding issues, etc.
Thanks for the video. Wondering about the old $199 version, can you change the 2.5 hdd? like swapping it for a seagate 2tb? what i mean is, is there a way to reinstall the shield OS?
What is the difference in performance between 2017 Pro and Non-Pro Nvidia shields TV? I cannot get my PNY 256GB flash drive to work on my non-pro Nvidia shield TV. Do you have any recommendation to fix this problem or should I just return it and get the Pro model?
Lon, been watching you for a long time now. Great job!! I was wondering, do you know of a good quality Bluetooth remote with voice control, gyroscope mouse and qwerty keyboard for the Shield? I have looked and looked and cannot find anything. HELP!!!!
Thanks for your great videos that help me and many others! I wonder how you got hdhomerun view app to run your prime DRM channel CNN. I tried yesterday after buying the new device and it appears the DRM channels will not play. However they still work with the view app on my firetv.
Hi there.I cant seem to find any answers for what I'm looking for so il ask you if you know anything. Any Idea if NVidia 3D vision shutter glasses kit will work on these? As I use them on my PC and also on to my 3D vision DLP Projector. Also can you use wireless keyboard and mouse for first person games?
So did you rip the Blurays to .iso ? I did that with my dvd collection but got frustrated with the lack of support (from services like plex that have great device penetration) ... so I ended up converting all to .mkv.
1. Will the old remote / new pro remote work with 16GB New Shield tv. 2. New 16GB Shield remote is Bluetooth or using IR . 3. Old Remote with headphone jack is using Bluetooth or IR . 4. Bought the new Shield 16Gb and remote is a brick so have to buy a new remote .
Seems Nvidia is holding back on building this Shield and a new Shield tablet with an upgraded, more powerful processor and ram. I would have thought by now they would have upped the power on these devices but instead they are just shrinking it.
Shrinking it how? It's the same specs as the first one, but smaller. They haven't gaslighted the system with any overly taxing features yet so it's still capable to run everything in 2018-2019, so there's no need to upgrade it yet. Your comment was made 1 year ago. I'd bet by the end of 2019 they announce a new VR ready model.
Good day sir. I was wondering with the new shield tv if it was any easier to use the 3.0usb as internal storage than the older version which was confusing and never seem to work for me
The original controllers mouse pad used to work on the TV. My remote messed up twice though and now the batteries completely dead, it only works on USB power. I've never managed to have my voice control working either only using the gamepads
I'm curious if I plan on just using a external hard drive either kodi or plex should I wait before adding movies or does Nvidia have to format it too work on the device. I'm getting mine in a few days, and should I wait on uploading movies until I get it.
It depends on whether or not you're using it as removeable storage (my recommendation). Removeable storage will work with an exFAT formatted drive so you can copy files back and forth from a PC.
Pandabearmadness Plex and Kodi support Direct Play of most video files. Kodi even more than Plex but there is also an official Kodi add-on for Plex so you get the best of both worlds.
Hi i am new owner of a shield tv 2017. I have a question, when you plug the shield controller it vibrates, but do you hear a weird noise like some parts are loose inside when it vibrates?. I mean my controller works fine but when i plug it to the usb it vibrates and it feels like it rumbles too much, you can hear every plastic part vibrating. I don't know if it just me or in fact something is wrong. I've been trying to find a way to make the controller vibrate to test the issue, however the only way i have found is plugging the micro usb cable.
Hi Lon and subscribers. I recently purchased the Shield TV; however, I am having issues with the Shield TV recognizing 4K capabilities. I have the Shield TV to a Soundbar that supports HDCP 2.2 and a TV that also supports HDCP 2.2. When I open Netflix app, Amazon Video, and other 4K streaming services, I only get an HD version shown through the streaming app. For example, House of Cards in Netflix only shows a HD version. When I change out other streaming boxes to the same HDMI cable, that set-top box does show 4K content in the streaming apps. I have tried to adjust the settings in the Shield TV like the display, but I do not get a solution. My TV can support 4K at 60fps but HDR in only 30fps. Any recommendations to fix this issue will be appreciated.
I live in Australia and no official nvidia suppliers here, yet. I hope nvidia rectifies this soon. Otherwise, how do I buy one here, with warranty, support etc?
So, what's the incentive to buy this one over the older one? Seems like losing ports is more of a negative thing. Pretty disappointing that it didn't get a Pascal update.
As I mentioned in the video, really no incentive here to upgrade although new buyers will get the remote included for the same price that wasn't part of the package before.
Lon.TV Well, I don't have the old one. I was hoping to get the next generation when it came out, and it almost seems like I would be better off grabbing a used first gen. youtube.com
Hey Lon, quick question, do you have a video on how to get the Plex DVR working on the shield with removable/network storage? I can't get the Plex server to update on the shield to actually offer the DVR function through the web interface, although I did get t working through my PC, by installing the BETA, but I haven't been able to replicate this on the shield TV. Love the channel, thanks a lot :-)
Good morning ....i have question about the nvidia shield tv, in the standard version of 16gb can I make the external hard driver as primary for install app , emulators and games ??
Buying this new nvidia shield tv this month, but can somebody who owns this one or the previous one confirm that when running plex server on the nvidia shield there is no issue running 4k media encoded in h265 to 1 client (or its own plex client). Confused because I have read in many places that h265 transcoding is disabled on ARM processors but on a plex page the devs have said it supports h265. Has anybody tried?
Hi Lon, Ithanks for your channel. I am the happy owner of a Nvidia Shield 500Gb version, as you state the new version is basically the same. My dream for that box would be to install Chrome OS as they will support android apps. I would get 4k resolution of chrome os running, the android apps that make sense for a tv and kodi in 4k. One boks that can do everything I would like in one operating system. I would like to see you explore that option as you have been creative previously with dual boot on other equipment etc. Dont you agree this would be a sweet setup?
Im going to wait for the pro version as it has more connection on it and I know there are a lot of people that have videos on side loading apps but I'm just want one in particular and that's Google chrome, is there a safe way of getting that app in the Nvidia shield that does not have involve getting viruses on the console .
Have always wanted to xfer all my DVD/Blue-ray Discs to online nas but have avoided the task due to the lack of one step transfer. Would be nice if you could drag and drop movies to NAS rather then the multi-step process available now.
I bought one of these. The game controller has issues with the analog sticks. there is no middle ground it seems. they work more like a directional pad motions are jerky hopefully a software update can fix it.
I have a quick queston to ask. I have a fire stick (Krypton 17.1) but I'd like to jump to a box. I would not play games or listen to music on it so I'm wondering if the NVIDA Shield would be over kill for me. What do you think? Valerie
A good alternative for just watching content is the MiBox - also has the Android TV interface but a little less powerful and more affordable (around $69) - lon.tv/8oe3y Review of it is here: ua-cam.com/video/3wxTy_QW52U/v-deo.html
I've been thinking of getting this and just putting it right beside my computer and my other systems since i have a small place, not really many places to put it
Lon, anyone, are you or have you experienced any overheating issues with the Nvidia Shield Pro box. I think ours is and wonder if it's a common issue or defect on my box. Seems if it's playing an hour or so it can cause the audio to slow down drastically to where it's barely playing, each letter spoken very slowly, yet the video plays fine. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Hey Lon, Could you take a look at the Splashtop Personal App for iPhone/Mac? I really want to know if it is a usable remote desktop solution for my Mac. Thank you so much!
Jeano will that mean you can connect A removable device to the shield and map it to your PC to drag and drop files through a FTP server. I'd like to have the shield have a USB connection to my content but be able to point my PC at it to add/remove over the network. Will this be doable?
Hey there. A quick question... Is SHIELD a passively cooled or it has a fan? Does the fan stop when device is idling? Can it be heard otherwise under full load?
Thanks Lon, I'll check them out. I have 4 of these Nvidia Shields in the house, it would be a fun project for myself to get an emulator working on one.
Lon, can you do a video on how Plex looks as a client? I'm very curious on how Plex looks when used as a client. I currently have a Plex server that contains my movies and shows so I won't be using this as a server. Thanks
Right now I have my mac mini server running my flex server but I want to have flex output the audio for dolby hd, dts hd, atoms, dtsx etc. I purchased the shield since it seems like this will answer my problem. Can the shield see my external hd which is attached my mac mini server? Can I have my mac mini still have the server running but use the shield as the client so I can get my high def sound from my media? Not sure what is the best setup that I should use.
ERRATA: It appears as though Nvidia switched back to Bluetooth for the controllers, not Wifi direct as I indicated in the video. I'll try to find out definitively on that.
If so, maybe try and do a short comparison video to see if there is any noticeable difference in lag.
Lon.TV I know these support Google Apps, but do they support like HBO go, TNT go, and on demand for channels?? I've been trying to decide if this would be good enough to not have to turn to my laptop to catch up on shows on demand.

Lon.TV the old controller had rumbles too I know because I disassembled it once.
Most of the Nvidia Shield reviews I have watched so far are dumbed down or hype. Lon, on the other hand tells you what's what w/o the bullshit. Good job!
That's exactly why I watch him. He says what he thinks and doesn't hold back.

I will have to pick one up. I'm using my GPD XD as my entertainment center right now. Great video.
I finally got my shield pro I'm really happy that it came with the head phone Jack remote.
Same, just got the Shield Pro and the remote has headphone jack and is rechargeable.
the new remote controller working fine with the older nvidia shield TV? thanks for the reply
What do you think about the new remote versus the remote that comes with the Mi box? I prefer the volume buttons on the Mi box remote versus the touch volume control on the new Shield. Whenever I pickup the new remote I feel like I have to grab it a certain way to not change the volume.
Props for having a ZX81 in the background. Did not know they made their way over to the US. :) P.s. Thanks for the review.
+Richard Collins yes! They called it the timex Sinclair 1000 here in the states
Just got my 1st Shield. It's the Pro edition. The remote has the audio plug and a mini USB for charging.
It's the new smaller Shield
The new Pro or the prior model?
The new pro.

I generally run mine at 1080p but have not noticed what others are saying in regards to its 4k resolution when I set it to that level.
How do you find the GameStreaming from the desktop PC to the Shield?
Any improvements compared to previous generations?
Does this Nvidia Shield Pro support rmvb playback as well...as my family watches this particular video format? Thanks.
Hey Lon,
I finally got an Nvidia Shield. Seems to work well. I just loaded Kodi 17.0. This is supposed to fix the HDHome "Intermittent no audio" issue I've been experiencing within Kodi. 16.x
However, I'm EXTREMLY Disappointed with the Nvidia Shield with one aspect.
Nice comparison video! I was wondering if you knew what kind of hard drive will be in the new 2017 nvidia shield tv pro?
What is the difference in performance between 2017 Pro and Non-Pro Nvidia shields TV? I cannot get my PNY 256GB flash drive to work on my non-pro Nvidia shield TV. Do you have any recommendation to fix this problem or should I just return it and get the Pro model?
Hey Lon, does the new remote let you control the TVs volume? Not just the system volume for the shield
I'm also interested in how this works. I thought I read the remote can now use IR to toggle TV power and volume.
Yes it will let you control your TV's volume instead of the volume on the shield.
Lon, can you recommend a 3rd party remote for the nvidia shield TV box. I don't like using the stock remotes. Thank you!
The Plex developers said they won't dupport .iso file format, that why I use Emby instead
You should mention it can do a little Saturn and Dreamcast too.
I'd bet by the end of 2019 they announce a new VR ready model.
nvidia don't need to the rest are playing catch up until they do catch up nvidia at home eating popcorn watching Netflix 😂😂
So can you connect the old controllers to the new box?
Can you add a external hardrive on the 16gb or only pro
Lon, where's your review for the 4k amazon box? Thanks
What monitor is that? It's beautiful
Any recommendations to fix this issue will be appreciated.
would you say stick with the old one mate I've got the 500gb pro it is really good for X265 playback
There is no reason to upgrade if you're happy with the one you have.

Hey. The new Nvidia Shield has the standby mod so it can run plex server although the shield is off?
Im going to wait for the pro version as it has more connection on it and I know there are a lot of people that have videos on side loading apps but I'm just want one in particular and that's Google chrome, is there a safe way of getting that app in the Nvidia shield that does not have involve getting viruses on the console .
Great review, thanks just ordered mine
so when the new update come out for the old Nvidia Shield
Do you have a tutorial on Retro Gaming setup on the shield tv? I'm waiting for the Pro and definitely want to do some gaming on it.
Have always wanted to xfer all my DVD/Blue-ray Discs to online nas but have avoided the task due to the lack of one step transfer. Would be nice if you could drag and drop movies to NAS rather then the multi-step process available now.
Does this thing have IR compatibility? My old shield did and I got a Logitech harmony 650 remote and it don’t seem to be working
I bought one of these. The game controller has issues with the analog sticks. there is no middle ground it seems. they work more like a directional pad motions are jerky hopefully a software update can fix it.
the most honest review
the old one is better in my opinion
I got the old version for 170$
I have a quick queston to ask. I have a fire stick (Krypton 17.1) but I'd like to jump to a box. I would not play games or listen to
music on it so I'm wondering if the NVIDA Shield would be over kill for me.
I've been thinking of getting this and just putting it right beside my computer and my other systems since i have a small place, not really many places to put it
Does the New controller work with the original nvidia shield tablet?
Does the Nvidia support the Rii i8 mini remote controls?
Lon, anyone, are you or have you experienced any overheating issues with the Nvidia Shield Pro box. I think ours is and wonder if it's a common issue or defect on my box. Seems if it's playing an hour or so it can cause the audio to slow down drastically to where it's barely playing, each letter spoken very slowly, yet the video plays fine. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Will there be an updated version soon or should I just buy the 2017 version?
The 2019 version is the same as 2017
Any issues with 5ghz Ac wifi band? With my shield tablet I am always having issues it can't detect 5ghz band off my router
lon, if and when you do the review of the new apple tv, can you also compare its video processing quality and compare it to nvidia shield?
Hey Lon,
Could you take a look at the Splashtop Personal App for iPhone/Mac? I really want to know if it is a usable remote desktop solution for my Mac. Thank you so much!
so the new controllers are only wifi connected? so offline play is a no go with theses?
can i use the shield as my pc and connect my HTC VIVE to play VR games ?
When will users expect the 5.0 update? apparently it can write on external storage which can benefit plex media server specially with 16gb version
i got it a few days ago on gen 2 shield
Zebrom it comes right out of the box as an update on the new ones. The first generation is coming soon.
Jeano will that mean you can connect A removable device to the shield and map it to your PC to drag and drop files through a FTP server. I'd like to have the shield have a USB connection to my content but be able to point my PC at it to add/remove over the network. Will this be doable?
OllieW501 i think that means you can store metadata into the external drives so you wont worry about using the 16gb.
Can you still add adoptive storage on the new shield?
Can you stream mkv files from an iMac or load on device from an external USB storage?
What app do you use for ripping your blu rays?
Hey there. A quick question... Is SHIELD a passively cooled or it has a fan? Does the fan stop when device is idling? Can it be heard otherwise under full load?
Jaka Mele has a fan
Is the new 2017 Shield TV Pro the same size as the normal 2017 Shied TV?? I think the new ones look uglier compared to the old ones.
+ctk4949 looks like it'll be the same as the old one
Is the ShieldTV stand still the same?
Do you happen to have a video on how to set up an emulator with games on the Nvidia shield?
I have a few on the master playlist, although I don't know if I went into detail on the setup.
Thanks Lon, I'll check them out. I have 4 of these Nvidia Shields in the house, it would be a fun project for myself to get an emulator working on one.
It's pretty easily actually - most of the emulators are on the Play store and the Rom files can run for a USB stick or SD card.
Right on, thanks for the heads up. Sounds easy enough to try haha.
Lon, can you do a video on how Plex looks as a client? I'm very curious on how Plex looks when used as a client. I currently have a Plex server that contains my movies and shows so I won't be using this as a server. Thanks
Subscribe to my Extra's channel I'll try to put something up there this week for you.
Thank you Lon. Sub'd
Is the TV stand the same for 2015 Shield TV and 2017 Shield TV seeing that size is slightly smaller?
The new shield is smaller so it probably needs a new stand.
Now if only my 500GB Shield TV would get the update already.
I am still waiting too! Amazon video is the big deal on that one.
Isn't the new update rolling out on 16-Jan-2017, the day new shield is available? I thought that's what they promised.
I believe that's what they said. However, in my experience with Android devices, it seems more like "you'll get it when you get it."
same, having trouble switching the new controllers to the first gen without the update
Does the nvidia shield do dolby atmos and/or dts-x?
