A follow up to my previous deep cleanse video, this is a slightly more complicated, but more thorough deep clean. This will clean out soap and shampoo residue, help remove lint, help protect against mold, remove the build up of day to day life and generally give more life back to tired stiff dreads.
    Ingredients!
    Hot Water
    Bicarbonate of Soda
    Rosemary Oil
    Tea Tree Oil
    Lavender Oil
    Lemon Juice and/or Sea Salt
    Apple Cider Vinegar
As always, questions and comments are welcome here and on the Lazy Dreads twitter. Subscribe here and follow me on twitter for weekly dreadlock videos, updates and vlogs!

This is pretty helpful... I swam yesterday and someone told me this whitish residue was showing on my 2 year old dreadlocks...I immediately hit the search engines and thank God i found you... I have purely relied on locticians, but now i will do it myself... I bet they do not rinse my locks well.. I am so glad, i will wash out the residue tonight..

I just did this (not with all the essential oils, but anyway...) and my hair feels great :) and the water was disturbingly dirty :D ...such a cool way of spending friday afternoon - cleaning my head from residues (and worries from all week while listening to audiobooks on my laptop) and soaking my dreads in warm water :)

Doing a super fantastic deep clean as I write this comment. I just dyed my hair, washed it off and now soaking them dreads. The last time I did this, the dye came out of them completely but stayed on my hair (if that makes any sense), my hair was bright red! The water didn't have the slightest hint of color after my first shower. I was AMAZED!

Thank u for all the awesome advice u give for dreads. You are prob the only one who gives tips that are accurate and don't damage ur hair. The rest crochet like crazy, and just give the useless maintenance tips. I read that crochet ur dreads actually make the loose hair and frizzyness worse, due to ripping hair inside the dread, which not only weakens it, it causes the shorter broken hair to become loose and frizzy again. So, again thank you for ur truthful videos. They have been extremely helpful!
    Peace Out,
    Mandi

This was the first time doing it this way, and my dreadlocks feel super soft and clean. Other methods that I've tried left me thinking, "Did that really do anything?" This one is really good! Hey man, I've had my dreads for 7 months now and I deep clean once every 2 months. I use a whole lemons worth of juice, 3tbs of acv and 3tbs of bicarb. I also add in around 2tsp of my rosmary eucalyptus and hemp dread shampoo, soak for 20 mins and then rinse out thoroughly. It leaves no residue build up in my hair at all and makes it feel so clean!

You can do this on younger dreads, you can even add some seasalt to the soak to help them along. There aren't any conditioners in the mix so it's safe to do, just treat the dreads with care, take your time and you'll be fine :)

I just did the soak then ACV then used Knotty boy dread shampoo, and my hair has never felt better! I think, personally, that the lavender is not necessary since it is just for smell, because once I put the ACV in my hair, thats all that my hair smelled like. Luckily the Knotty boy has tea tree oil and peppermint in it. I've had dreads for 2 years, after growing it straight for 6 (total of 8), so they are long and thick. This is my second time doing dreadlocks, and I can honestly say I have never even considered doing a cleanse. But after seeing this I had to try it, and I'm glad I did. The water looked like grey paint when I was done. I'll continue to do these cleanses for the rest of my dreadlocke's life. Thanks brotha, Positive vibes.

My locks get fuzzies too (I had not been super strict about using lint-free towels, etc). I once decided to condition them because they can be dry-ish (I wash with baking soda which can dry it out) & I used Coconut oil, kinda massaged into my locks followed by a deep cleanse similar to Lazy Dread's cleanse (I only use teatree & baking soda follow by vinegar) & a large majority of the fuzz/lint came out when rinsing in the shower. Plus coconut oil makes hair shiny, strong & smells good.
