No one should condone that. Larry is a grown adult. People make mistakes. Even if he’s frustrated with his life and tried to make a joke like that, he shouldn’t have laughed off his apology once he realized that what he did was wrong. Young kids will think it’s okay to bully as an outlet to their frustrations since that’s Elmo’s target audience and many of them may be watching this and are in the phase where they imitate what they see. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sesame Street actually sued Larry since many people may try to sue Sesame Street after their children may have watched that without a tv warning stating there may be possible violent scene that many people prefer not to expose their children to. Even if that doesn’t happen, Larry is getting to the age where he may need people to take care of him and it’s that generation that he taught violence is okay to that will likely take care of him.

This is spontaneous comedic gold. Elmo's puppeteer improvised the situation pretty well. Stayed in character and played along during such an out of pocket moment. And Larry David attacking Elmo is such a Larry David thing.
This is probably a publicity stunt for the last season of Curb Your Enthusiasm
Excellent puppeteering, I completely agree. And ad libbing. Very impressive. In the wrong hands, that could have been a deer in the headlights moment, those gave as good as they got. In character, on live TV, who knows if they could even see what was going on. Very cool.

Funny catch! But that’s not feedback, that’s distortion from the rustling/tusle overloading the mic. Feedback usually sounds like a loud ringing and often happens when a mic gets too close to a speaker, or when something covers the mic.
Or a balloon being rubbed by hands. Weird sound. What is his nose made of exactly?

I genuinely can’t tell if this was scripted or not. The puppeteer for Elmo seemed to be angry judging by Elmo’s more stiff demeanor after that. Not to mention the puppets are probably expensive.
