MMJ has so many good songs but this is one of the best, stunningly beautiful and sounds like it's from a place where timelessness reigns ❤️ The Karen Carpenter reference ties in with the lines about "when God gave us mirrors he had no idea"; Karen Carpenter's anorexia nervosa would presumably be "caused by the mirror" in the logic of this song. MMJ formed in 1998 and their first album was 1999, this was off their fifth album "Evil Urges" from 2008.
Brand new treasure. LOVE it! It has a vibe so reminiscent of the music filling the air in the mid to late '60s. It resonates with my soul which thirsts for more.
Great song, great band! The guitarist (lead) is excellent, Jim James the vocals and guitar as well. Have some beautiful songs, like Golden, Wonderful. And some absolute rockers like One Big Holiday, and some very musical journeys that you really can't label. Fantastic live band. Yim Yames is the singer on some solo stuff that's real interesting.
Love MMJ and this song. As a librarian, though, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for calling out that stereotype. We might all be beautiful, with glasses and our hair pulled back, but we hate the assumption. At least he didn’t mention cats and cardigan sweaters! LOL
Harri. I think you missed the Karen Carpenter reference.’ He was referring to her as another victim of the mirror. Karen was hopelessly bulimic and took her life due to the lie she was believing standing in front of a mirror.
Always great to see someone reacting to MMJ you should also listen to Golden, Lay Low and Steam Engine hell the list goes on and on with these guys. “What is it inside our heads that makes us do the opposite makes us do the opposite of what’s right for us?”🙏🏽✌🏽♥️

Finally somebody discovered My Morning Jacket! Evil Urges is a great album.
I'm Amazed is another good song

Thats how it is every time I hear Jim James sing, just such an incredible story teller.
My favorite band. And I know what that’s saying.
Gawd I love this song so much. Me and my best friend used to listen to this driving around at night on back roads in Kentucky, where MMJ is from.😊
Evil Urges and Highly Suspicious are great songs too ! Saw Jim James do a solo show. It was mesmerizing !

Mark, I believe she died from heart failure. Years of bulimia had damaged it.
Check out Steam Engine or Dondante man and you won't be disappointed. Great reaction!
I hope you do another song by them. I wonderful if you liked this one. And Where to Begin

Thank you sir. I think the ‘Karen carpenter’ lyric is her anorexia-the mirror and all that. Let me know what you think .?.?
