    It WORKED!!
Owner of a Sony 75" 940e 4K TV. TV is a full-array local-dimming television. Got a "stuck" white pixel in the top left corner that was very annoying. I ran this program all the way to the end then turned off the TV for a few minutes to let it cool down, powered it up again and stuck pixel is gone. Thank you much for putting this program together!

      Hey John Doe-
Yes it will work and we are pleased we have helped another user to fix the Dreaded Dead Pixel.
Just remember that any new purchased TV monitor or computer screen CAN HAVE Dead Pixels on arrival -
You have to remember Dead Pixels can happen on even a NEW SCREEN - manufactures state that if only less then 10% of the actual pixels then this is normal ! -
gone are the days of the Good Old Plasma Screen Technology which as you will remember cost anything from £2K to £6K and they were stunning - screens or monitors now are built on price - unless the end consumer spends a shed load of money then the manufactures want screens / monitors to last about 2 years - that said I think you will agree you can buy a screen for a little as £65.00 ! - enough said.
Things we suggest you do when running this software to try to mend long term Dead Pixels that have been their ages:
One of the best things you can do - is put a towel or cloth over the front of the screen ( keeping all the air ventilation holes at the rear unblocked - DO NOT COVER THESE UP ) - and run the program.
Ensure you are running at true 4K or 5K HD - that said some computer systems running from a ISP router will down grade and run at a mere 1080P - If you are streaming from your router DIRECT to the TV monitor then you should get 4K or 5K HD.
This you can tell by looking closely at the screen. Things should be VERY SHARP & CRISP- as in Blu-Ray or a HD Blu-ray disc.
Its worth checking the above in detail before running.
Now its worth noting our "SUPERNOVA" edition MK3 - ULTIMATE FIX should fix Dead Stuck Pixels is the NEW version released.
This MK3 SUPERNOVA has double the amount of data in the program - both should sort out the problem but the MK3 is a cut above the rest.
That said - it will depend on how long the faults or glitch has been present in the screen - dead pixels can grow to adjacent units - the cure is to see them and so something about them as soon as possible. We have tried our hardest with what we know and put it all together in these 2 programs - they are free to use after all.
As you can see with other peoples comments - they can work and do - you just have to persevere - when you have run the program say over a week at different intervals - run a high quality Blu-Ray through the system - ensure you have a good quality HDMI input to obtain the highest quality data input.
      1) DARK DOT DEFECTS on a screen or monitor:
A Dark dot defect is usually caused by a transistor in the transparent electrode layer that is stuck "on" for TN panels or "off" for MVA/PVA and IPS panels. In that state, the transistor places the liquid crystal material in such a way that no light ever passes through to the RGB layer of the display.
      2) BRIGHT DOT DEFECTS on a screen or monitor: Hundreds of hot pixels appear in a 32-minute long exposure photograph taken in virtual darkness.
Note: These must be viewed at full size in order to see them A bright dot defect is a group of 3 sub-pixels (one pixel) all of whose transistors are "off" for TN panels or stuck "on" for MVA/PVA panels. This allows all light to pass through to the RGB layer, creating a bright white pixel that is always on. This is commonly known in the industry as a "hot pixel".
      3) PARTIAL SUB-PIXEL DEFECTS on a screen or monitor:
A partial sub-pixel defect is a manufacturing defect in which the RGB film layer was not cut properly.
      4) TAPE AUTOMATED BONDING (TAB) faults:
A TAB fault is caused by a connection failure from the TAB that connects the transparent electrode layers to the video driver board of an LCD. It is worth noting: TAB is one of several methods employed in the LCD-manufacturing process to electrically connect hundreds of signal paths going to the rows and columns of electrodes in layer 6 (the transparent electrode layer) in the LCD to the video IC's on the driver board that drives these electrodes. If an LCD is subjected to physical shock, this could cause one or more TAB connections to fail inside the display. This failure is often caused by horizontally flexing the chassis (e.g., while wall-mounting or transporting a display face up/down) or simple failure of the adhesive holding the TAB against the glass. TAB faults require replacement of the LCD module itself. If these connections were to fail, the effect would be that an entire row or column of pixels would fail to activate. This causes a horizontal or vertical black line to appear on the display while the rest of the display would appear normal. The horizontal failure runs from edge-to-edge; the vertical failure runs from top-to-bottom.
      5) COLD START:
The Cold start Commonly called a cold start fault, another type of TAB failure shows up when the display has been turned off long enough for the LCD to cool down or shrink enough so the bond is in open circuit. This fault is often seen as a ghosting double, or triple, image on one side of the display, with shadowing or dulling of the other part of the screen. A common test for this problem is to use a 50% and a 75% grey test signal. The fault often disappears as the LCD sheet heats up and expands into the frame; flexing the TV when this is happening will immediately reveal if this is a TAB fault. Cold start TAB faults tend to get worse, as the regular heating and cooling of the bond, from powering the display on and off, causes further cracking. Hardware manufacturers and distributors tend to claim that TAB faults, as opposed to other physical defects that may be found in an LCD, do not allow for repair.
      6) STUCK SUB-PIXELS:
A stuck sub-pixel is a pixel that is always "on". This is usually caused by a transistor that is not getting any power, and is therefore continuously allowing light at that point to pass through to the RGB layer. This means that any given pixel will stay red, blue, or green, and will not change when attempting to display an image. These pixels may only show up using certain applications, or they may be on all of the time.
      7) STUCK VERSUS DEAD PIXELS:
These are often incorrectly referred to as "Dead Pixels", which have a similar appearance. In a Dead Pixel, all three sub-pixels are permanently off, producing a pixel which is permanently black. Dead pixels can result from similar manufacturing anomalies as stuck pixels, but may also occur from a non-functioning transistor resulting in complete lack of power to the pixel. Dead pixels are much less likely to correct themselves over time or be repaired through any of several popular methods. Stuck pixels, unlike Dead Pixels, have been reported by LCD screen owners to disappear, and there are several popular methods purported to fix them, such as gently rubbing the screen (in an attempt to reset the pixel), cycling the color value of the stuck pixel rapidly (in other words, flashing bright colors on the screen), or simply tolerating the stuck pixel until it disappears (which can take anywhere from a day to years).
What we have tried to produce is a Free Software that will help eliminate any Dead Pixel & Stuck Pixel back into life - over time it will work you just have to follow what we have said.
DO NOT PRESS ON THE SCREEN in any way - damage may result.
REMEMBER new TV / COMPUTER monitors can arrive from the manufactures with a percentage allowed of Dead pixels - they allow for this )

Try a few IDP Films videos. Sometimes you can revive a white pixel but they are usually dead.
Tip this is a great time to use lens cleaner on your TV screen. The small amount of pressure will this is running will definitely help.
10-30 mins should be all you need. Maybe more. Then it’s a good idea to let the TV cool off. This is good preventative maintenance as well.

    Hi IDP Film Team,
Thank so much for putting this amazing technology together!
I'd also like to thank you for answering so many questions. That's very generous of you.
I have learned a lot from reading your replies to other's comments. (Run this video straight from UA-cam in 4k -- not any other resolution, put a cloth over your screen, let the monitor cool down for 25 - 60 minutes after running the video, etc.)
I have two questions if I may regarding some nasty black pixle clusters (25+ dead pixels per cluster) on my '15-inch Retina Macbook Pro'.
    #1: Should I run this video at 'Default for Display' (1440 x 900) or at a 'Scaled' resolution? The following options are available on my 15-inch Retina Macbook Pro: 1024 x 640, 1280 x 800, 1440 x 900 (default), 1680 x 1050, 1920 x 1200.
#2: What about the black borders on top and bottom of this video in full screen mode on UA-cam? Does this matter? If so, how does one get rid of these borders?
I hope you can help me answer these questions, I'd be very grateful to receive any clarification.
    Thanks!
    A.E.

      1) Thank you for the kind words - we appreciate your time in writing in - Yes we like to help others where we can
      2) You mention 15inc Retina macBook Pro - nice machine.
That said we strongly suggest you run this at the HIGHEST Resolution as possible - 1920 x 1200 is the highest that your apple graphics card will take - What we would do is plug your screen into ANOTHER SOURCE that can push the pixels and we mean push the pixels - think of your 15inch screen as only as a DISPLAY MONITOR and by pass the Apple Graphics card !
      3) The black borders you mention - SHOULD NOT BE THERE & WILL NOT BE THERE If you have the graphics card & screen resolution set up correctly - all displays are 16:9 / 16:10
      Ideal resolutions are as follows:
      1024×576, 1152×648, 1280×720, 1366×768, 1600×900, 1920×1080, 2560×1440 of course the best being: 3840×2160.
      Now it is worth noting:
Around Summer 2006 most computer monitors for the general public had a 4:3 aspect ratio very few had some at 5:4 but this was very small to find and not good !Around late 2006 and 2007 period, monitors with the 16:9 and mostly 16:10 ( 8:5 ) aspect ratios became commonly available in computer laptops then later also in single monitors stand alone computers !
Late in 2008 the brilliant 16:10 became the MOST COMMON SOLD ASPECT RATIO - ALL LCD Displays and the same year 16:10 was the standard for Laptop computers to which Apple in-braced - and the rest is history !
That said around Spring 2008, the computer industry started to move over from 16:10 to 16:9 ratio - 16:9 was here to stay !
      The main reasons were:
16:9 provides better a economic cut (panelization) in existing TFT LCD fabrications/design.16:9 products provide wider aspect ratio which was great for the consumer and all game developers !
In March 2011, the 16:9 resolution 1920×1080 became the most common used resolution.
The earlier most common resolution was 1680×1050 (16:10)
As said you should have NO Black panels top or bottom when running our program - if you have the graphics card & screen resolution set up correctly.
Again - you need to push the display to its maximum in order to tease those dead pixels back into life.
REMEMBER - If they have been there a while then perseverance & determination will be required !
We wish you luck A.E. - keep us posted
& Happy New Year to you Fella from all the team

@@idpfilm Thanks so much for your quick reply and your well wishes! It means a lot.
With SwitchResX I'm able to up the resolution of the screen on my 15-inch Retina Macbook Pro to 3840 - 2400 (16:10). That's the highest available resolution in that program.
Regarding the black bars: SwitchResX also allows one to switch to 16:9 mode (2880 * 1620 and others): That mode creates black bars on top and below the work area. When I put the video in full screen the black bars of the video do disappear (unlike in 16:10 mode). But the positive effect of that is of course mitigated by the black bars the software created.
So I'm not sure how to get rid of those bars in 16:10
(As a side note: This isn't a dual graphics card machine, it only runs the 'Intel Iris Pro' graphics card. Not sure if that matters.)
      Regarding the following point:
What we would do is plug your screen into ANOTHER SOURCE that can push the pixels and we mean push the pixels - think of your 15inch screen as only as a DISPLAY MONITOR and by pass the Apple Graphics card !
--> I do apologise but can't make heads or tails out of this. Could you please elaborate a bit what I would need (an external screen?) / how this would work, if possible at all?
Thanks once again for your generosity!

our Techie guy suggests that a program such as ours ( and yes there are a few now on the market - some good - some not so good ) he runs it on his own set at home every 4 months -
You have to remember Dead Pixels can happen on even a new screen ! -
manufactures state that if only LESS THAN 10% of the actual pixels then this is NORMAL !!!!!!
      - gone are the days of the Plasma Screen which as you will remember cost anything from £2K to £7K and they were stunning - screens or monitors now are built on price ! -
unless the end consumer spends a shed load of money then the manufactures want screens / monitors to last about 2 years - that said, I think you will agree you can buy a screen for a little as £65.00 !!!! - enough said.
To answer your later question - we suggest running it for 2 hours - ( read the other comments we have left folk ) such as a cloth or towel over the front screen to excite the Dead Pixels back into life.
      NOTE:
DO NOT COVER UP ANY VENTILATION OR COOLING VENTS - all you are trying to do is make the Front Screen warmer with a cloth over it which will help in your quest.
You mention: ................As a side note: This isn't a dual graphics card machine, it only runs the 'Intel Iris Pro' graphics card. Not sure if that matters. ( end quote )
You do not mention what your Graphics card is on the MacBook Pro ! ( see below )
Quote: What we would do is plug your screen into ANOTHER SOURCE that can push the pixels and we mean push the pixels - think of your 15inch screen as only as a DISPLAY MONITOR and by pass the Apple Graphics card !
In other words link your Display on the 15inch Retina MacBook Pro to a SUPER HUNGRY: Mac PRO 6.1 or even a HIGH END Mac PRO 5.1 with a Graphics card of at least 3GB or 6GB
Now remember these Mac Pro 5.1 - WERE ARE STILL ARE BEASTS !
Apple tried to kill off the Mac Pro 5.1 - but professionls saw what Apple forget - you can BEAST THEM UP MASSIVELY
      ie: Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 3072 MB / Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti / GTX 750 Ti, 960, 970, 980, 980 Ti, Titan X
The display will only be pushed with a very high end graphics card -
on the subject of Mac Book Pro
MacBook Pro 2.5Ghx dual core Intel i7 with retina
can push out a mind blowing 5120x2880 resolution at 60Hz at over a BILLION colours !
Can & will handle 2 displays with 4096x2304 resolution at 60Hz at millions of colours
using the legendaryThunderbolt 3 digital video output
We wish you luck and we do hope this program help you - one last thing - try to as often as you can to stream a BluRay disc on film - as these run at a high definition this will help also - normal TV programs do not push the processors at all and that's one reason Dead Pixels form.
Wishing you all the best in your quest

@@idpfilm Thanks so much for explaining. I get it now. :) (Sadly I don't know anyone with such high end machines but good to learn something nonetheless.)
I'm so sorry about this. I have a MacBookPro 11.2. This model has an Intel Iris Pro 5200 (1536MB) graphics processor that shares memory with the system. It sadly isn't configured with the additional dedicated GeForce GT 750M with 2 GB dedicated GDDR5 video memory.
I have found a way to remove the black bars but am unsure if this method would have a negative effect on the technology.
I have found that you can import (stream) UA-cam videos in VLC. So all you do is add the url of this video in VLC. It will then stream the video. Once the video starts streaming you can change the aspect ratio to 16:10. That way there's no more black bars on my MBP screen.
      Any thoughts on this method?
Thanks again for your amazing support!

Hi, I have a stuck pixel in my JVC projector. I have ran the programme every other day for two weeks now, with no luck. I feel maybe I´m not stressing the pixels enough because I´m running this from youtube. Is it possible to have access to de Original Cinema DNG Files to stream them from Davinci Resolve via a Decklink Card, that has more depth of color? Thanks in advance

    • @idpfilm
      @idpfilm  5 років тому

Victor - as we have said to a few others - you have to ensure that your ISP server is NOT streaming it say at 1080p or 2K
We know for a fact that some computers ie Apple will steam at 1080P HD - that can be seen in the quality settings at the bottom right hand edge of the viewing platform.
That said - its been uploaded in the highest S-UHD settings possible - which if your Router & ISP server is capable of it will do the job.
You are correct the program was produced in Davinci Resolve at max render settings which with a Mac Pro 8-Core took a bit to render and made a huge file.
The question is HOW are you running this to your JVC projector - and what is the max resolution output of this projector ? - what cables are you using. It sound like that you know also the 'Black Magic Art' with editing and resolutions.
Its worth standing back and looking at how you are getting the program to the troubled display unit !

IDP Film Thanks for your reply. I have been running this in 4k (youtube setting) all the time. I have a 200mbps internet connection. At the moment I’ve been outputting this via a Gtx 1080 graphics card using an Hdmi cable 2.0 and RGB 12bit signal. The projector is a JVC reference RS500u capable of accepting a 4k signal but with a native resolution of 1080p. Thanks again. Any help is appretiatted.

Can I cast this video to my 4k tv and will it work if I do it that way

    • @idpfilm
      @idpfilm  5 років тому +8

Ricky - Ensure you stream from you router direct to the TV - some ISP Routers will down grade the signal to 1080P - a good way of checking is look closely at the screen - all the image especially our water marked logo ( That's the whole reason its embedded into the program ) is so it SHOULD BE SHARP & CRISP to look at.
Remember this MK3 version is double the power of data flow than the MK2 version we have developed.
Both are FREE to you guys to use - if it helps fix one person TV then its been worth the long journey & time we put into them
      Best wishes Ricky

Run it from UA-cam - and just loop it.

as long as previously mentioned in the write up below to other member's that its is streamed at true 4K HD straight from this program.
As mentioned so many times before - if you download & copy the program then Data will be lost due to ISP & broadband service providers download stream.

follow the posts we have left for others
Read to comments we have left for others on the MK2 version of this - see other program

Any screen that is touched would not cause a problem - after all how do people clean their screens ?

Why does it bleep? That seems kind of superfluous.

    • @idpfilm
      @idpfilm  3 роки тому +2

      Tech guys at IDP FILM
the only reason why we have bleeps on the software program is 2 fold:
      1) so the end user can run the software as per the instructions - WITHOUT the need for them to look at the screen
      2) so the end user can check every time they walk into a room whilst the program is running - to know its running
we suggest the volume is turned down low - and keep an eye out for the bleeps - if the bleeps are inconsistant then that could be 2 fold:
either a loss of internet streaming data or bad connections
hope that answers your question - we always try to think outside the box here
Best wishes and thanks for asking the question
