- The other night Matt and I had the best supper of the summer! On the menu was cornbread, creamed malabar spinach, peas and butterbeans, just picked roastnears, roasted carrots, pork tenderloin, onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes. It was mighty fine eating! I almost forgot the carrots in the oven 😀 So glad I remembered them at the last minute!

Incredible book!
@@susannedye8760 Thank you!!
This cookbook is incredible! Everyone needs a copy ❤️
Seriously, my favorite book ever! Mine just came last week and I can’t put it down and can’t wait to try everything! And the heartfelt stories are so wonderful! ❤
@@laurariddle9394 You are so kind-thank you!!
It is not a coincidence you and your family is not struggling with obesity. These plates are so colorful and healthy. This is real food from a real garden! Simple but wonderful meals ❤
Amen. I want this for everyone!
Butter beans! Fabulous. As for the new camera, it's fine and dandy. LOVE this video.
The best conversations are on the porch, shelling and stringing!
So true 😀
Me & my granny in Savannah, Georgia would be shelling them beans on the porch- fond memories of better days- sadly gone by
It is so hot in Texas we mainly grow black eyed peas and related varieties because they stand the Heat. I recently grew some Peruvian beans a kind of a small yellow bean and they were absolutely delicious
@@altonpitts2158 almost nothing is as good as it used to be
I really enjoyed seeing you and Corie breaking the beans on the front porch. We never had beans exactly like those. The only peas we grew were planted very early, harvested early, too. Your meal looked delicious and I’m sure it was! There’s nothing better than fresh vegetables grown in our own gardens!
Oh my dear Tipper, I know we don’t know each other but I surely wished we were neighbors. I was born in WV, then moved to GA, moved to Boston from 2-10, PA from 10-15 and been in Va Beach ever since. In college (didn’t graduate) but I fell in love with a little mountain boy from Western VA..what a treat to get to know his family, eat her biscuits, fish with corn in their creek….we parted ways but it impressed me how they lived. I joined a bluegrass band also around the same time, sang and played mandolin. I’m 60, just turned and your channel takes me to a simpler time, oh that was so sweet. Bought your book and I just love it. Y’all be well. I pray for you and your dear family. Love, Sue
We grew up thinking the smaller green ones were Lima beans and the great big ones were butter beans. I like either one. Actually if it has the word bean in it, I’m there!! Love seeing the clean up time lapse and turning the light off at the end. Just like supper at my house.
Me too! Small green butter beans. So Sweet
me too. i loved the time lapse. felt like home
One of my greatest memories is sitting out back in my Granny's yard and shelling peas..........eating them with cornbread
The way he butters his corn 🌽 is serious…no fooling around. I want a man to look at me the way Matt looks at that corn 😂
🤣🤣😊
We butter our corn like Matt. There's always a little cube left in the wrapper and it's easy to slide it around the cob. We also put lots of salt and pepper on it.
awe, you just warmed this ol hoosier girls heart. I have never in my 65 years heard anyone call them roastnears..except my dad and his people. Thank you for a sweet memory.🌽
Shelled many purple hull black eyed peas and had the purple fingers to prove it. Shucked a ton of corn and shaved many a Cobb for canning. Me my sister and my mom and aunt. Me and my sister were young and can recall the conversations and laughter today. Mom and my aunt are gone. Enjoy this with your mom! Thanks tipper
My family always referred to the small green bean as a Lima and the large dried cream colored bean as butter beans. Here in Georgia we call all the green ones butter beans. Your supper looked awesome!
Nothing better than simple foods, homegrown, prepared with love and enjoyed with family!
BRINGS BACK SUCH WONDERFUL MEMORIES AS A CHILD AND TEENAGER 😊 PRAYING GRANNY IS DOING BETTER 🙏🏼❤❤
Butter beans, peas, cornbread on the bottom, spinach, what a fabulous meal. Camera looks great
That’s a great looking meal
I remember sitting on the porch with my granny and mom shelling peas and snapping green beans. Miss those days. Supper looked delicious! 🙏❤️
Butter beans were the only bean my parents could get me to eat as a kid! My dad would cook them w/ onion, some streak of lean & red pepper flakes.
We made a soup with butter beans. We sautéed the cooked beans with olive oil garlic and salt and pepper. Then added them to a pot with a small can of tomato sauce, water and cooked pasta. Add Parmesan cheese and let it cook a little while. Your dinner looks so good! Camera works well too. Much brighter and sound is great!
We love any kind of bean with cornbread and a chunk of onion. Supper looked delicious. Am sure the house smelled wonderful in the process.
🥕🥕😊I usually forget something in the oven … so many good things to eat on that plate😋, praying Granny wanting corn bread means she’s feeling pretty good🙏🏻
What a more peaceful and loving world it would be if children got to sit on the back porch and shell peas with their elders.😢❤
I also wanted to comment that I think it's wonderful that Matt helps so much with the kitchen work. Many guys just weren't raised to help in the house. Great job working together ❤
We have purple hull peas is popular in Arkansas
We need to try them 😀
Here in my neck of the woods, green butter beans are limas, whites are butter beans. Love them both. Peas love fresh or frozen, but just say no to canned ones,!!😃
We referred to the green ones as butterbeans and the white ones as lima beans. I live in Alabama. The green ones were much smaller than the white ones. I love to crumble cornbread in a bowl and spoon the pot liquor over top. A mighty good supper you cooked Tipper. And you are lucky to have help cleaning the kitchen after supper. Love your videos.❤
We call the green ones Lima Beans and the others butter Beans. 😊❤
These videos are my absolute favorite! Love watching you cook and seeing what you make. I wish we could smell the food through the screen :D
Always nice to have help when shelling beans. Summertime dinners are always the best when fresh out of the garden!
Great supper! The video was very sharp and clear, and sound was really good. Love butter beans!! Continued prayers for Granny.
I love your videos! Butter beans and cornbread are so good!😊
Love every type of beans almost every way. I have them mashed, seasoned, and buttered for breakfast with eggs, cheese, meat, and of course, coffee. Occasionally, I will have a slice of toast with them. Sometimes, I will have beans and ham for a late evening dinner. Bean soup with either hot biscuits, cornbread, crackers, or fresh baked bread with coated fresh butter followed with a slice of Mom's apple pie is a memory from growing up.
I so enjoy watching you and Corie and Katie and Matt...Tipper, thank you for sharing with us❤❤❤
Another delicious meal. Everything looks soooooooo good!!
This is mouth watering. I love seeing authentic, hard working entrepreneurs grow a channel and have success!!!
The whole time Matt was preparing his plate I was talking to the tv, “Where’s the carrots? Tipper, you forgot the carrots!” I was so relieved when you remembered them. 😂
We grew up eating purple hull peas. Like you grow a lot of green beans, we grow a lot of purple hull peas to freeze for winter. Green beans are almost an afterthought for us. It’s the peas that fill our freezer.
Us too!
The small Lima beans are so good. Your meal looks so tasty. We love purple hulls and put them over corn bread just like you. Granny is so blessed to have you all.❤
My granny and pa always had peas and butter beans. They did grow enough to put up. We always ate them over white rice and she would throw a couple of pieces of okra in them while they were cooking. That was my favorite part.
Yum
😀 Thank you
The best meals are the one you grow and the meat you hunt to provide for you're family.
It’s 6 am and I could eat all of that wonderful food for breakfast! I do the same with cornbread! God bless y’all and continued prayers for Granny and y’all!
We love peas and butter beans. I grew up on bowls of peas/beans and cornbread sopped in pot likker. It’s one of those meals that I’ve found myself craving so much as an adult. 😊
Your meal looks delicious
Camera quality is much better in my opinion. And, yes…this type of eating is my favorite!!!
Yay 😀 Thank you!!
This is something my grandma would have put on a plate, especially the cornbread.
Most cooking shows don’t show anybody cleaning up afterward. That’s a nice touch. It’s part of the meal!
The new camera seems to be working well. The colors are vibrant without being too loud, and the lens gives a great view of both you and the whole kitchen. Sound is good, too. Laughed at the forgotten carrots (done that!) and enjoyed the high speed cleanup. Outdoors and in, this was one of the loveliest videos. Hope Granny enjoyed the cornbread, too.
Clean-up and nibbling the last little sweet nubs off the corn cob. 😉😁
They look a lot like the purple hull peas that I grow. I love peas! Shelling beans and peas is relaxing to me. Enjoy!
Yes the picture seems clearer, yes love any beans and peas!!!
My hubby is jealous of Matt getting such a good supper 😊it really looks wonderful ❤
That is a feast. :) I can remember meals like this in the summers with the cousins, Aunt & Uncle, Grandma & Grandpa.
We'd have peaches & home made ice cream that we each took turns cranking. YUMMM
I think we used Lima beans for the green ones & butter beans were the Large White ones.
Gracious, that’s a deliciously *blessed* late summer Appalachian supper‼️Wow 😋😝😋
Aww even better that Granny got her cornbread 💛🙏🏻
That meal looks delicious.
We had shrimp N grits.
Sitting on the porch shelling beans brings back memories 😊 your supper looks so delicious.
The world would be a better place if more people sat on the porch and hulled beans! Mike New
Also in Kentucky I grew up on horticulture beans. I miss hearing one say roastnears.
I have heard my Mom talk about horticulture beans but I can’t find seeds at the garden center. Are they a brown speckled bean? Thanks in advance, Mike
I always learn something new watching you. I've never seen peas that look like that and NEVER saw such colorful butter beans. Whenever butter beans are mentioned, I remember my grandma teaching me how to cook them many years ago. Lima beans to me are the bright green ones that are frozen. One thing for sure, in our house, we cooked with a lot of butter.
Love your channel, watching you cook and talking about your life in Appalachia. Especially love seeing Matt help you in the kitchen with the dishes.
Combination of speckled butter beans and blackeyed peas are the best. Yum!
Your summer garden meal looks delicious! My grandmother cooked beans just like this.
My mother would cut corn off the cob and cook them up in her beans. It was the best dishes ever!
I can tell the new camera is so much clearer and bright .l really appreciate it. Food looked delicious 😋
That's a good country feast fit for a king!!!! Boy, that's good eatin' right there! My kind of food!!!!!!!!!
Making me hungry. Thank you. Love.
YUM!
With every supper you make my stomach starts growling. What a cook you are!
Yummo...not to mention how much love this is made with ❤
I’ll have to try bacon grease the next time I sauté spinach, that sounds so good! ❤ My husband and I love any kind of dried beans, or cooked fresh from the garden. We grew some October beans this year and they are my new favorite.
There's nothing any better than a meal like that !!
Food looks good as always. Audio has a buzz to it in the background.
We always called the green smaller ones Limas and the bigger other colored ones butter beans. Also the peas you were shucking we always called them beans or back eyed peas. We cook them the same way with bacon. Your dinner looked delicious. Tha camera made everything look brighter. God bless you all. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
We did too. The Lima beans were mixed with corn and served with butter and salt and pepper and the bigger butter beans with a ham bone.
The carrots! 😂🥕🧡
I had no idea there were so many pretty colors and patterns on beans. Been fun seeing the before and after of planting. Thanks for showing up close so we could see each one you picked. Your meal looked delicious.
What a blessing you can share your corn bread with your Momma!!
Looks so good. Love that you included the raw onion slices just like my grandaddy did!
Looks amazing! I’ve recently been adding a half a block of cream cheese to melt in with a skillet of spinach. 🥰
Butter beans are SO good!
They are the best 😀
Yes I love butterbeans!!
Amen!!
I love butter/Lima beans with fried potatoes, cornbread and onions.
It's so nice thst everybody helps with the cleanup so you can enjoy the evening after supper too 💕
Oh the memories that came from snapping green beans or hulking peas, shucking corn. Those were the days! The life you live is a dream! Cannot wait for each video y’all make! Thanks, Tipper for sharing your family and life!
I bet your kitchen smells yummy.
Porch sitting and getting garden yummy ready for supper cooking..and remembering memorues..and singing..that's memories I had with my great grandmother sisk and my grandmother McNulty...
Your new camera has good video and audio. Your whole meal looks delicious and your awesome cornbread. We've always called ours butter beans. My favorite bean ever. I love them! Thankyou all for sharing your wonderful life. ❤️
It looks delicious! I grew up in southern IL and we called them butter beans. I planted some purple hull peas for a late harvest and they are just starting to bloom. Can't wait to harvest them. Loved this. TFS. ~ Betty
I worried about those carrots this whole time! I am so glad you remembered them.
I love you new camera. It is Brighter. Brings out Y’all lovely Faces.
Each dish looked scrumptious. The bounty of your garden. What a feast ❤
So glad you remembered the carrots!😊. It all looks delicious.
Yum! Just had supper and watched Corie cook, now you! Love Southern home cooking. We call them butter beans and I love them mixed with fresh corn and tomatoes. I’ve had “Lima beans” that someone cooked and they were bitter. Love your precious family. God bless y’all! 😀❤️
That looks so relaxing , siting on the porch with your daughter working with those beans ! Making wonderful memories !
Your suppers always look so dilish
