    Easily one of the best cab videos on UA-cam. Not often we get to see event's in such clarity such as guided shunt/transition work (++comms), safe movements and more (++comms) and throttle/amperage transitions !

    Sweet! I've seen pics of this move on Instagram, but didn't know you were the engineer assigned to run it. Bet this train handles different the longer drag freights you normally show us. Those 567s sound lovely, and I love their little RVB horns. Wish we ran units like that on the main here in the States. Great video as usual!

    Weird thing that Victoria had making the long end leading equipped with the control stand and the short end (No1 end in NSW) with no controls, as the late Professor Julius Sumner-Miller would say..."Why is it so?" Certainly attracted some trackside attention along the way. Nice one Adam, and thank you.

    • @aydoyt
      @aydoyt 2 роки тому

      The No. 1 end is the short end in Queensland too. The X and T classes have their No. 1 end as the long end rather unusually

    • @grandview58
      @grandview58 2 роки тому

      Long end is the front of the locomotive, well it was in Victoria , I think is a carry over from steam days , when your shunting you’ll say to the fireman if you got one , what end do you wanna call the front , just so there’s no confusion

    • @dieseldavetrains8988
      @dieseldavetrains8988 2 роки тому

      @@grandview58 Thanks Bill, in NSW short end was always No1 end and nearly all NSW loco's had control stands on both sides, with number one the main side.

      Same as the first series x class, if it's the same as the American mentality, it's a throwback to steam days, with the boiler in front of the cab. Evidently thought to provide some safety to the crew in the event of a crash.

    Love those T classes. Short story for you, the Comengs are actually wider than the other(sparks) and when they passed one another on the up and down lines at North Melbourne on the curve they would scrape one another. We had to work with the track gang to widen the 6 ft between the up and down tracks that was the Broadmeadows line. That was back in 85 l believe. Where has the time gone???

    I always love doing research on the locomotives you guys use down there. Looks like these are similar to EMD GP7-9's. I like the low hood versions from what i've seen. 408M being scrapped? Does the T class have two sets of controls front and back of the cab for going either direction or is it the same controls? Does the T class to push/pull like the P classes can do? How does the Push/Pull work remotely, radio? cable? air? guy in the back with a walkie talkie? doesn't actually push?
