I've been isolated for two months, alone with the ashes of my mother because she died right before the pandemic lockdown. Sakamoto-sama, please receive my deepest appreciation and thanks for this art session.
I heard that Merry Christmas Mr Lawerence theme song right before my friend died. I didn't know who to turn to and thought the only people who could understand would be the soldiers. Cos they had their friends die all the time. So I watched the ww2 documentaries. I heard one nurses in stationed in Africa had wrote in her dairy "we all cry in private, but never in front of the boys". So I always I had to hold back my tears in front of my friend. When she died was the first time I cried.

I did not realize that he was dealing with cancer at the time this was made. And even as it went to the late stage he still played and gave his music to others. RIP maestro, thank you so much.
My wife and I were very fortunate enough to see Ryuichi play a solo concert in London almost 12 years ago now. The audience (mostly Japanese) were so polite and courteous throughout. You could hear a pin drop. Not a single cough or sneeze, nobody getting up to go and get a drink etc. Amazing experience. Met him afterwards and he was such a gentleman.
You are lucky. I'm Japanese. He can't do concert anymore. 6/7/22, he announced statement about his cancer is already stage 4 since December 21. He said still making music at home until last moment at his home. Thank you for loving his music.
Dear Sakamoto, today I am saddened by the news of your departure from life. With you a bit of my life has gone as well. You Sir gave so much to all of us , I have only gratitude for You... may You rest in peace dear Ryuichi
I’ve had the opportunity of meeting working and pretty much living with him. To this day whenever I hear a solo piano I cannot help but to think of this man. The time I spend although at the time it seemed long but was actually way to short. Once his music was in me it was in to stay and to this day everything musically from the time spent with him till now touches me to the depths of my soul. I once had the privilege of being with him when he was composing the music for ‘The last emperor’ I was in Tokyo to work on an opera he composed. He left to go to China to record and I’ll never forget him coming back to the rehearsal studio and playing the completed compositions and I was sitting it a puddle of tears. I had never been moved so much. Thank you for allowing me to spend that time with you. I will never forget one of the most beautiful and rewarding musical times in my life. One love Ru. Bernard 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
Are you the guy who performed on Sakamoto's Neo-Geo tour? I love the version of Tibetan Dance with your vocals. Must have been an incredible experience.
R.I.P thank you Mr. Ryuichi Sakamoto. Your music always in my heart and forever. The news of Mr. Sakamoto's departure were very sad to me. I got to get in touch with his music as far as four years now, and although the time's not that much, it's enough to make it so sad, to find out he's not with us anymore. To think he's been working on his music until this very year, and to remember every single person that happened to trace their inspiration from such a great musician... Truly someone that not only could be rightfully called the sound of postmodern Japan, but also the sound of many nations. Wherever he may be, he will always be missed.
Rest in Peace, dear sir Ryuichi Sakamoto. You will be dearly missed. I am so devastated because I just watched this same vid recently hoping and praying you’d get better but God has took you with him now. I hope you’ll reunite with Mr. David Bowie up there. 😢😢❤
I've never cried watching a youtube video, but I couldn't hold my tears during Bibo No Aozora. I wasn't thinking of anything, just feeling the intrinsic beauty of the song through the pianos sound. The feeling that Ryuichi is the universe itself is within his music.
That is so true. I've been a fan of his music since i was a teenager, met him 3 times in France, and, what a "gentle-man", and what a musical genius... 💙

His music has haunted me since merry Christmas mr Lawrence came out. It was the last movie I saw before I went to navy boot camp, so for 38 years it's been in me. I want it played at my funeral. That's how much I love it.
Four years later, you are and will always be missed. Thanks for all the amazing legacy you left, so we can, forever, feel one with your wonderful, magical, soul.. ❤

Somehow I suddenly started to his music "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence" after lock down in LA. I picked up his music by my memory and and started to play piano. I cried so much during listening his music which was rewashing my soul. His music is so beautiful. His soul reaches out our soul. Thank you so much. Sakamoto-San.

I've been through hell for the past few days. I just found this video today and I couldn't more grateful. Your music saved me before, and it's saving me again now. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much, Mr. Sakamoto.
Yes i had the same feeling, the song is now a lot sadder but also has increased even more it’s beauty. It’s incredible that Mr Sakamoto was the actor who played captain Yonoi and also the composer.
This whole performance is drenched in emotion, which I value above perfection. I also feel deeply moved by it. Thank you for your gift to us Sakamoto San.
What a gift is this. So emotional, so human, so inspiring. I'm thankful for being lucky enough for seeing this right now... Is difficult to get used to be locked up but let's see all of this in a positive way... We are alive now Greetings from North Mexico, Mr. Sakamoto.
Thank you maestro. I watched this concert live on UA-cam during the pandemic. I was struck by your humbleness, sensitivity, and artistry. But especially by your kindness in dedicating this concert to the many who were isolated in different painful ways. May you have a joyful and peaceful journey lifetime after lifetime and throughout all eternity. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🎹❤
Dear Sakamoto San. I hope You are well and healthy, and safe in these struggle times. I'd like to express my gratitude for your gift which you gave us through your music and humble passion which you presented by. Your pieces made a huge impact on my interesting in classical music in general. I wish bless on You by anyone who can give You that. With truly respect by a man who admire Your passion in music.
I have such profound appreciation, admiration, and respect for Ryuichi Sakamoto and have been following his music and career for nearly 40 years. He is a brilliant artist and this offering shows a special side of him where he uses the unfortunate situation of the pandemic to bring the beauty of his music and that of the other highly skilled artist he is performing with to people in isolation. A remarkable gift from an extraordinary person! Thank you, Mr. Sakamoto!
Wow, such a lovely comment. 40 wonderful years, and many more to come. Mr. Sakamoto's compositions are akin to a library containing volumes of human experience. Incredibly intimate and enchanting. He pours his soul into those keys, resonating out into those who listen. I am much younger than you, in my late 20s; I look forward to living life with his music like you have. In the 4 years since I came upon his catalogue, it has carried me through times of elation, deep despair, hope and lack thereof. I truly do not know where I would be without him. I do know, however, that I will continue to share his life's work with anyone who cares to listen. Thank you for sharing your experience with his music; thank you, Mr. Sakamoto, for your generous contributions to our lives.
Sakamoto-sama, thank you for all that you have given to the world. I am sorry for you suffering from cancer. I hope your after life, no matter what that is, is a peaceful and sweet to you for all of the peace and solace your creative works have given to so many in need here on Earth. You have been and always will be inspiring.

Yes i had the same feeling, the song is now a lot sadder but also has increased even more it’s beauty. It’s incredible that Mr Sakamoto was the actor who played captain Yonoi and also the composer.
The ending is breathtaking.
This whole performance is drenched in emotion, which I value above perfection. I also feel deeply moved by it. Thank you for your gift to us Sakamoto San.
May you find your eternal peace, Professor.
This is beautiful art, massive respect to all of the people that made this performance possible. Greetings from Chile.

What a gift is this. So emotional, so human, so inspiring. I'm thankful for being lucky enough for seeing this right now... Is difficult to get used to be locked up but let's see all of this in a positive way... We are alive now
Greetings from North Mexico, Mr.
Yes he is so humble and kind, and always encouraging other people (in his aging days😆)
Beautiful, well said. You gave the perfect words

Surprised and delighted he closed with Perspective. My favorite of his, underrated and extremely apt.
Thank you for pointing it out! I've been listening to Sakamoto for two years now, and I've never heard Perspective. Truly exceptional
I hope we can protect this man’s art for the future. Forever.
My heart felt ready to collapse during merry Christmas. Haunting
While the world is in chaos, I find great peacefulness listening to this masterpiece.
想念您,看完了关于您的纪录片,一直止不住流泪。很遗憾没有机会当面见到您。安息
Sakamoto-sama, thank you for all that you have given to the world. I am sorry for you suffering from cancer. You have been and always will be inspiring.
