Hey, in 4:18 you said you can’t access the selection tool bar on the bottom once you star drawing on it. Well, actually you can do it by exiting the selection and then clicking and holding the selection button at the top for a second. It will bring back the last selection you’ve done and also the selection tool bar. Hope I have helped. Cheers from Brazil 😉

Actually, all you need to do to recover the selection tool bar is to hold down the lit up selection button until it shows up

4:15 - for those who lost their selection and want to get the options back, just tap and hold the “s” selection icon and the options will reappear.
Make sure you tap and HOLD! That parts important cause if you just tap, it will deselect and if that happens just two finger tap to undo to get selection back.

For real! I've been drawing traditionally for so many years, when I finally went digital I colored everything by hand which was a massive waste of time because I had no idea a selection tool was even a thing.

Awesome tutorials, thank you so much. Just got my used 9.7 iPad Pro because my iPad 2 couldn’t handle Procreate at all. This tablet is amazing and with your help I’ve created a space art piece that I like. I needed to learn the alpha lock layer tool to keep the planet content on the p,a net. Drove me crazy trying to select and draw just on the circle then I would try to shade and it would go outside the edges. Drove me crazy until you told us to alpha lock the layer. i really wish there was a way to transform a selection without affecting the image.. in photoshop you can press ctrl+shift+t to activate the transform tool and it only affects the marquee- so you can make an ellipse selection and then distort/nudge it into the correct position without having to sit there trying and failing to make the perfect ellipse
Great video! You help me a lot! Just one question: Is there an easy way to delete the content of my selection with just one "click"? Currently, I´m selecting a portion of my artwork and then I use the Erase tool. But it can take a while, is there an faster and easier way to do it? Thanks

Ok, so question. I’m working on a project involving multiple layers. I’m drawing a cartoon image with an iPod nano on it and am just finishing up the nano, but I’ve run into a bit of a problem. You know how the screen displays the album, the song and everything? Well, right where the time bar is, I reflected the album image and added a gradient to get that same reflected fade out effect just like with the actual nano. But there’s like pixels of the image poking out from under the gradient, even though both are the same size and I used the select tool to crop both. It clashes badly with the black next to it and looks out of place. I tried to shave it off but it only leaves the part horribly cropped and doesn’t line up with the rest of the image. What should I do?

Hi mate, I love your videos, theyre super helpful, do you know if there is a 'magic selection brush". For example it can detect outlines automatically so we dont need to go around every line?

Thanks William :) Really appreciate your feedback. The only tool that does something similar to that is the automatic selection. However, it's not perfect and hopefully we'll get some better selection tools in future updates. Just pick the selection tool and choose "Automatic".
How to I use this to move a small bit on my layer?
The newest version has a completely changed selection tool. I used to be able to select a filled shape and fill it with a colored image by using a combination of a new image layer and “invert”. I can no longer do this. What I am trying to do with Procreate 4.? is take a complicated shape I have already drawn in its own layer and fill it with a layer of crazy colors that I have painted and saved as a jpg. Not sure if I am being clear about this. Example would be the block letter A filled with the image of an automobile. I used to be able to do this. With the latest update I can’t. Is there a workaround? HELP! I loved that feature!

Look up how to use mask in procreate. There are three different masks, layer mask, clipping mask, and alpha lock.
My finished gallery is on screen size , can I change it later to 4 x 6 or 4K? If yes, please show how to do it. Thanks

I would probably say that the selection tool is not accurate enough for that.... yet. Hopefully they'll improve it in a future update.

Hi Bernard 🙌You should be able to tap and hold on the bar (not on a slider) and drag it around. You can't place it anywhere, but you should be able to adjust it somewhat.
Why doesn’t my iPad Pro Procreate have redo and undo buttons when I select selection tool then freehand tool there are no redo or undos

Should be fine, the Apple Pencil has a hard rubber tip so it won’t scratch. If it does it could be defected tip or something on it like a small piece of grain or sand or something.
How can one load multiple saved selections together?
i'm having the toughest time figuring out if it's possible to select and cut one image within the canvas and move (paste) it somewhere else? i've drawn an image that i don't want to have to draw again, just move a few inches over. if i can't copy and paste a portion on my canvas, is there a way to manipulate where the image appears using several layers...? OR! if there's already a video that i missed on how to select a portion and move it, would you direct me to it. THanKS.
Let me know if one of these methods answers your question. Method 1: This allows you to cut a selection and paste it on another layer. 1) Make a selection on a layer with the information that you want to cut. 2) Swipe down with three fingers and choose "Cut & paste". 3) Move the new layer around as you wish. (if nothing happens when you swipe down with three fingers, then go to Actions->Prefs->Gesture controls->Copy & Paste.
Method 2: Go to your layers panel and swipe left on a layer and duplicate it (Now you have 2 identical layers). Then move it a few inches over and do what you need to do.

You have a more recent version than what is displayed in the video. I'll have to update this series at some point.
This could be faster in some areas like the actual doodle and slower on menus

Yes, use the selection tool. Then swipe quickly back and forth on the canvas with 3 fingers. That is the gesture to clear
