Amazing to see mate! Huttons greatstick and Wolley's singlestick are my favourite systems and the ones I practice daily, it is so useful to have it shown on UA-cam by a talent like yourself.
Thank you for yoour compliment, but anyway I hope to not hurt the eyes of someone doing this on a daily base 🙃 Don't forget to give me feedback on our interpretation in this and the upcomming videos 🙂
@OliverJanseps as far as I can tell your footwork and interpretations are the same as my group does has been doing, although I'd say your own form is a lot smoother than ours.

my experience has confirmed the wisdom of others: the grip with the index finger significantly overloads the wrist joint and reduces speed, reducing the distance for the opponent.
@@OliverJanseps hello! the index finger is not involved in the grip. with it, you can control a sword or similar weapon, but it does not participate in the capture itself, so as not to create unnecessary stress on the wrist joint through the created lever. to avoid injury, of course, you can practice using the mace that you demonstrated in your video, but reducing the distance between you and your opponent does not compensate for this. here, the further away the enemy is from you, the more room you have for maneuver, and the bent index finger moves the weapon to a smaller distance between you and the enemy.
