Hey man. I used to race bikes but the endless training caused me to start to hate the sport. These videos inspired me to get on my bike and go for a ride again (the first time in almost a year and a half), and reminded me of just how fun it is to go for a ride and enjoy the outdoors
James is now the star of the show! I've really come to appreciate him during this epic trip. I used to think he was just some bizarre bikefitting dude, I was wrong.
Increase the jokes with James, get Lawrence back in and we have the Top Gear of the bike world. Seriously think you should consider another cross European journey next time and get that badass James some Tubular's setup....or not it adds to the flavour of the video.
You guys are amazing! I dare anyone here who's giving James a bad time because he's moaning to try and do what you guys are doing, and not complain at all! At least he's funny and has a great attitude. You both are. British humor at its finest. 😉
I just found you guys a week ago from Tyler "VC" and y'all are awesome! From the jokes to bike knowledge to the editing. Super clean. Sad to see Lawrence not part of the rest of the tour. Anyway, y'all are awesome and can't wait to see future videos!
Another great video. Pedalling downhill, yup that’s the west coast for you. Sometimes it can feel like the wind would push you back up the hill if you didn’t pedal going down.
I have to say it's amusing watching the slow dawning of the realities of long-distance riding fall upon the laden shoulders of James... Keep it up, fellas.
That was fantastic..yoy are holding up so well considering the miles you are doing everyday and the conditions you are riding in there were some proper laugh out loud moments in that video!!! I can't believe you are riding that far and then putting together a video of such good quality everyday :) And never mind what the others are saying I think James is hilarious
So we enter a new chapter it appears . We are in bigfoot territory . The legend says he likes cyclist , he is famous for jumping out of the bush and clothes lining bikers usually going down hill and if he chases you just pedal faster then James . Years from now after the stories have been told and the videos have been watched you will be sitting in the café with your mates and out of the blue you will remember the desert and it will put a smile on your face and maybe a tear ..
glad you guys are almost at Portland, (per Strava), but please take care of each other. Now sure how much of it is stress or show, but that's a lot you 2 got going on.
Oh its too hot (mojave), oh its too up hill (mojave), oh its too cold (coast), oh its too windy (hwy 1). COWBOY UP MO'FO'z!!!!! Actually, I knew what you were getting yourself into (Project USA), but I like the positive additude you guys bring to some of the tough parts of the journey you go through ( just keep pedalling). I knew you'd get tattoo's (Male Bonding/Epic memories) and now, (long shot) I'm predicting you & James (Lawrence is still young) might become ex-patriots...........it is a long shot, but I like the odds;) Epic Journey Boy'z!!! Soooooo Envious of you guys:) James, try going downhill, with a 100 lbs trailer, and peddling in low gears, just to stop from falling over! That's PCH wind for you:( Oh, and Leggett is really known for it's "All You Can Eat Chinese Food" on 101..........NOT!!!!!
What is it with you dudes and Denny’s? I am a fifth generation Californian and in my forty years of life I’m not sure I’ve ever had breakfast there. Try Yelp for Christ’s sake.
Francis Cade If you didn’t tell your viewers that they serve low grade dog food you could get free breakfasts for life given all the air time you’ve provided on the channel!
oh god you guys and the degrees thing. its Celsius that you are quoting. Its kills me everytime. but I will properly get over it. Oregon and Washington are so beautiful, I am glad its blowing you away. Also, your heading into GOOD BEER area, Eureka! we found good food and beer
And now you understand why there are so many Denny's. When you just can't be troubled to think any harder about where to eat, Denny's is an easy, dare I say reliable, option.
Awooh Francis we got addicted to this tip vlogs. The 3 of you guys highly requested when this project done to have another one very soon in another country. James made a scream @7:18 just like legendary Bruce Lee screams! I totally agree with him about ready made frozen food it is Shit. Supper video mate. keep this marvelous work flown
Really enjoyed this one. Keep it up guys. Francis, what are you eating? We never see your meal. I suspect that James is not vegan. Neither am I, but I had a really nice lentil burger today and through of you toughing it out in US tourist land.
The return of the flats ... at least you didn't have to repair where it was 50 deg C in the shade (and there was no shade) and why are you not running tubeless ;-) .... (sorry couldn't resist). Ride on fellas!!
Awesome, awesome stuff! I'd love to know the lens and (I assume you use) ND filter you go with while out...Your ability to capture day to day bike culture, and now just stunning scenery of your ride if phenomenal! Can't wait for the next one!!
Pro tip: reduce your meals at fast food joints to a minimum or when necessary, go to a grocery store and make your own meals on the go, you'll end up wasting less money, time and you ll feel great at the end of multi day rides :) Loving the videos, looking forward to ride those places next year and thank you for sharing the rides on komoot. The only bad point about komoot is when i try to make routes over a 1000 km the site just crashes :P
Can't believe you guys came all the way across the an ocean and a continent, and you keep eating Denny's and gas station food. We really do have better food. ;-)
Yeah, it would be a lot more organizing if you arranged it around better food choices. Many of the little towns still have a small market, but business hours are not on your side.
I did 130 miles a week for over 2 years in 104-110F arizona heat I was forced by probation the only bike I could afford that could handle that torture was a schwinn stingray chopper 32 pounds lots of hills to single gear grind up
LOL My first view of this series, the first thing I thought of, headwinds. Who masterminded this route? I always rode the Calif Coast North-South. I'd call the tailwinds the 'freeway effect'. Sure 'nuff, on the New Zealand south island west coast, just like I guessed, it was the opposite.

James is a majestic creature.
I just found you guys a week ago from Tyler "VC" and y'all are awesome! From the jokes to bike knowledge to the editing. Super clean. Sad to see Lawrence not part of the rest of the tour. Anyway, y'all are awesome and can't wait to see future videos!
Well done guys, I've got this funny feeling that James is actually missing Lawrence! haha
tflynn124 I am
Another great video. Pedalling downhill, yup that’s the west coast for you. Sometimes it can feel like the wind would push you back up the hill if you didn’t pedal going down.
Great video as usual. James is the rock!!!! Keep it going. I bet Lawrence is getting board waiting for you. Be safe
I have to say it's amusing watching the slow dawning of the realities of long-distance riding fall upon the laden shoulders of James... Keep it up, fellas.
I do feel like maybe James needs a hug every now and then. Loving the trip guys, making me want to plan my own
You’re my favourite UA-camr, mainly because of the fact that everything is so professionally shot, but also because of just how good your videos are
World famous for what..... being shit? Is maybe the most British thing I have ever heard.
Agreed, so british
Ricky Gervais Style
That was fantastic..yoy are holding up so well considering the miles you are doing everyday and the conditions you are riding in there were some proper laugh out loud moments in that video!!! I can't believe you are riding that far and then putting together a video of such good quality everyday :)

What?! Who's hating on James? He's awesome!
For those normies who's hating on james, obviously they didn't watch everything from the beginning or maybe they're just crying for no reason.
So we enter a new chapter it appears . We are in bigfoot territory . Great to see spirits are high, well for James anyway. Smiling on the inside hopefully Francis.
cannot wait to eventually see some outtakes in your short film.. keep up the outstanding editing
I´m enjoying this trip videos like I was there. Crazy images, stories and music. Totally jealous.
James has a very unique war cry... Love you guys!
Stefan Johnson it’s “hurry up Francis” in ewok
James Thomas ,next video we wanna hear more Ewok screams with some ridiculous subtitles... Like you guys don't already have enough editing to do ;)
excellent as usual post. Keep tapping out the miles. Lots of great Restaurants in Portland.
Ohhhhh the suffering now you can't tuck in behind poor old Lawrence 'The Truck' Carpenter. 😉😁
Good luck guys this week 800 miles 👏👏👏👏
James' hyper today, Francis. 'Badass duuude'
glad you guys are almost at Portland, (per Strava), but please take care of each other.
Now sure how much of it is stress or show, but that's a lot you 2 got going on.
Chapeau for the thumbnail. Love the Light/Dark split!!
Great ride and kudos for pomping out great videos daily 👍👍👍
That's some big big country. Ask James if a bad day on the bike is still better than a good day at work 👍
Oh its too hot (mojave), oh its too up hill (mojave), oh its too cold (coast), oh its too windy (hwy 1). COWBOY UP MO'FO'z!!!!!

It's become a joke now
Well, at least you won't suffer from constipation.
No way I could eat at Dennys and then do a long ride. I'd be spattering brown cement all over the road.
It may perhaps lead to washing out your kit in the shower while wearing it however!
Francis Cade If you didn’t tell your viewers that they serve low grade dog food you could get free breakfasts for life given all the air time you’ve provided on the channel!
'Told you you should have done that last night' ' F**k off ! " LOL .... Ps loving the videos guys, Thanks for taking us on the adventure.....
Great stuff all the views and the head wind ! 🤘
Great video Francis and one probably of the best Ewok screams I've ever heard @7:20 from James! haha
James' Ewok impression at 7:18 is the funniest thing I've ever heard. Laughing so hard it hurts.
oh god you guys and the degrees thing. its Celsius that you are quoting. Its kills me everytime. but I will properly get over it. Oregon and Washington are so beautiful, I am glad its blowing you away. Also, your heading into GOOD BEER area, Eureka! we found good food and beer
Ahyutaaaa.............!!! Love to hear that from Sir. James?
And here I thought Chris was the funny one! Clearly James has been in the heat a bit too long! hehe
Those downhills look spectacular.
Long ride Francis, great morale though..
Some of the views on those roads are amazing, great episode as always.
Ride safe 🚴♂️🚴♂️🕷💨💨
And now you understand why there are so many Denny's. When you just can't be troubled to think any harder about where to eat, Denny's is an easy, dare I say reliable, option.
Hey, look at that! I don't follow your vid's for a week(out on my own tour) and you ride right past my house! I'm in Arcata, just north of Eureka...
Awesome video as always boys. Keep up the good work.
I love James' angry dad-walk into Denny's
i live for those slow mo shots
Love you!
💕
Can't beat a Denny's 😂 all food is fuel, keep going lads.
"Did you just fart?!"..."Mmm,bread." haha
another great video guys
Awooh Francis we got addicted to this tip vlogs. The 3 of you guys highly requested when this project done to have another one very soon in another country. James is the Jeremy Clarkson of cycling
I've never eaten at a Denny's while sober. What's it like?
Really, really bad.
Really, really good.
I worked at a Denny's in college. There is a LOT wrong with Denny's.
Gordon Moat Francis loves it..............but he is a simple creature
Denny’s is an upscale Waffle House.
Really enjoyed this one. Keep it up guys. Francis, what are you eating? We never see your meal. I suspect that James is not vegan. Neither am I, but I had a really nice lentil burger today and through of you toughing it out in US tourist land.
There's usually a veggie burger! I've been eating eggs some mornings
The return of the flats ... at least you didn't have to repair where it was 50 deg C in the shade (and there was no shade) and why are you not running tubeless ;-) .... (sorry couldn't resist). Ride on fellas!!
Francis sporting Oakley Jawbreakers? Looks like Prizm Road lenses. Excellent choice.
Awesome, awesome stuff! I'd love to know the lens and (I assume you use) ND filter you go with while out...Your ability to capture day to day bike culture, and now just stunning scenery of your ride if phenomenal! Can't wait for the next one!!
No ND, I just adjust shutter speed! Sony 16-35 GM
Can you please let me know helmet James uses? After a new one with a low profile. Looks decent
Tough going as long and hard as any if the pro's in.tdf imo. Hats off
James’ comment about sourdough sent me 🤣
Since Lawrence is so close, is he going to ride the final leg with you guys? I hope you guys take the scenic route tomorrow, which would not be 99W.
Badass dude!
5:17 is too relatable
Francis, what app do you use to track the profile of your route?
Komoot 👍
Why Denny's. You can't be in such a remote area where that's your best choice.
What brand are those headphones James and Lawrence are using?
Can't believe you guys came all the way across the an ocean and a continent, and you keep eating Denny's and gas station food. We really do have better food. ;-)
We arrive in 90% of these towns and the choices are taco Bell, dennys and pizza. Everything closes at 9pm... Dennys it is.
Yeah, it would be a lot more organizing if you arranged it around better food choices. Many of the little towns still have a small market, but business hours are not on your side.
Without Lawrence in the videos you two sound like an old married couple LOL Ride On Boys ... it's almost over!!!
I lived off those microwave chicken sandwiches in my early 20's. they were the best thing out of the vending machine in my barracks.
What gradient of hill do you ride up at 15mph? #flying
How many piece of clothing have you taken? When we I go on these long rides I barely take a change of clothes?
Absolutely love the video. Reminds me of the absolute shit headwind from my bike tour. Full gas down hill into a headwind to do 15 KPM.
Nice thumbnail
8:24 best thing all trip
How do you dry your kit overnight? I can't get mine to dry unless it's sunny
Sometimes it's dry, sometimes it's damp.
James, where can i buy the same type of hat that you use? You guys are doing fantastic!!!
Look up Albion cycling - they do lots of other cool stuff! Also check out Attacus!
Francis knows a guy in Adelaide with excellent copies.
Just had to break off from watching ,
The quotes are back
"The hotel does sh1t breakfasts , we're going in ere" 👍.
I feel like since being in the States I’ve heard you all say “Dude” more often. Lol. Maybe it’s just me.
Does no one have saddle sore issues? Any tips on how to avoid?
I've never had saddle sores, spose I'm quite a light rider though!
Get a bike fit
James Thomas I have. I’m really only sore when I put in long and hard efforts though. Does that point to something specifically you think?
加油!
What watch does James wear?
James Mims Rolex yacht master - this ones a Hamilton khaki automatic though :D
Are you actually pushing 250W+ for 100+ miles? Ir just on the climbs? Fair play
200-250W, any less and we ain't moving in this wind!
What is James’ helmet?
KASK Mojito
Francis Cade I love how he knows this off the bat now he’s been asked so many times
That's one red nose there Francis ... hahahaha
I did 130 miles a week for over 2 years in 104-110F arizona heat I was forced by probation the only bike I could afford that could handle that torture was a schwinn stingray chopper 32 pounds lots of hills to single gear grind up
A bit late to the party, but that was an excellent Ewok impression by James
it's spot on innit.
8mph up 7% on a fully laden bike is "Taking it easy" is it?
Shit, I've gotta up my game.
As a vegan, what do you eat during one of those gas station breaks?
Sweets
LOL My first view of this series, the first thing I thought of, headwinds. Who masterminded this route? I always rode the Calif Coast North-South. I'd call the tailwinds the 'freeway effect'. Sure 'nuff, on the New Zealand south island west coast, just like I guessed, it was the opposite.
7:15
7:19 lmao
Is James alright? He seems to be laughing incessantly. Either drugs or he's having a breakdown
It was I who farted around 7:03
First!!!
Y do i have to pedal downhill 😂
I don’t think I’ve ever heard so much moaning
