I have a bagzilla like yours, too, and have felt burdened and anxious about the nightly/weekend papers I never seem to get to checking. What a great idea to downsize! I dug out a thinner black leather tote I will be using from here on. It's more stylish than my school teacher 31 bag also. I will only bring home one set of papers, since that is doable. I also have a small bag of fun colorful pens, a pack of facial tissue, some wipes, and throat lozenges, just in case.
I actually cleaned out my bag over the break. I did bring papers home to grade. I only got to two sets. Better than what I normally do I might add. Please keep up with these videos they are super inspirational.

I have recently decided to leave my bag at school during the week and only take it home on the weekends incase I have time to plan. I have gotten so much better at keeping my work at school! I'm a high school teacher who refuses to take home anything to grade. One thing that helps us a grade anything practice on completion and do more smaller assessments during the day that I grade. So I grade one or two problems separately or do an informal check quickly. Practice assignments are practice so I won't penalize them for mistakes, just checking that they did it. You could check that in the morning while they work on a morning exercise or quietly read. Just trying to throw some ideas from a teacher who loves her job again now that work stays at work

I have a cute Vera B. tote and have just enough room for my EC planner, umbrella, and three file folders for papers to be graded, copied, and for school forms/info. I'm struggling with the whole work/life balance too -- my bag often doesn't make it out of my car at night! Keep the inspiration coming!
I have the same Thirty One bag. It is usually jam packed with papers to grade and books I think I will read through for lesson planning. When I am lugging it back and forth I tell myself no more because most of the time that's all I do---lug it home and back to school. Sometimes I feel like it's a safety net--what will I do without my bag full of books! Here's to being more efficient and lugging less around!
I love this. I am in the process of minimizing my school / work items. I need a smaller bag, which I purged a lot of my things. But I did watch another video on UA-cam, where the teacher had a smaller bag, but put a thin plastic bag or reusable bag in their smaller bag, so if you need to take other things home, you have that plastic bag.
My bag is so heavy, I've got it on wheels. I've decided now to only bring home one or two short tasks and not everything on my desk. Thanks for the inspiration to lighten my load. 🎒😜
I cleaned and organized my purse and school bag yesterday.... feels much lighter now. I carry a lot of the same items in my bag and or purse. I used some zipper pouches I had to organize both. I love it.....
I also had one of those bags. After being diagnosed with RA I have down sized. I know only carry my EC planner and papers to grade. I will no longer bring school work for the weekend. I hope 😬
I’m proud of you! The only things in my school bag are: my lanyard/keys, my calendar (I don’t “plan”), papers to grade, and Ziploc sandwich box of pens. That’s it. And I’ve been teaching for 31 years.

I'm trying to do the same as a "traveling teacher". This year has proven to be stressful. I love the contents that I'm teaching and my kids, I just wished I had my own room. I have a backpack, my lunch bag and then a luggage type tote bag that has wheels.
In my classroom, I have an iHome digital clock that is also an iPhone docking station. It's great! I no longer need to worry about my phone dying at school. 😍 Also, in order to reset the time on the clock, I just have to dock my phone for a few seconds.

I love how Boo dives into the video. Cats, lol. I was wondering if anyone had tried out the EC totes for a teacher bag yet. I really like the pockets on the 31 totes bc it helps me organize things (each pocket has a dedicated item or group items). I only bring home a big stack of papers at report card time or when we're expecting a snow day. The guilt of "I should be utilizing my break" is getting to me, though.
I don't have a school bag... I always have a pen in my purse so if I'm taking papers somewhere to grade there is always one available. My purse can fit a small stack of papers in it. Otherwise, if I'm taking supplies or papers back and forth, I grab a tote bag and only use it for that day. My purse has everything I need and then I have a desk full of things at work and a desk full of things at home. No need for me to lug it around with me!
I'm a kindergarten teacher. I do all my plans on the computer. The idea of carrying around a thick, heavy planning notebook is not something I care to do and haven't done for years. I print off one copy of my plans to place on my desk and that's it. I place a computer copy on our school webpage for the principal. If I need to look at my plans from somewhere other than school, all I have to do is go to my school's website. I can highlight things in my plans if I want to draw attention to something in particular. Life is just too hectic for me to even think about making my plans cute when I'm really the only one who will see them. I suggest that you stop the planner all together for your own sanity. I hope you read this message with the understanding that I love your vlogs and only wish you the best.

I take my handbag and often that's it. I have a laptop bag for my work computer but I only bring it home Mondays and Fridays unless I'm ill or going to a conference. If it doesn't fit in my handbag do I really need it? -side note my handbag is pretty big so my laptop actually fits in it. 😅

Hi Juliana, I am sorry to say that I will not. I have three more months of Popsugar coming because they are already paid for. But after March Popsugar will get the axe. I have already cancelled Scarlet Lime and other subscriptions because I have so much I don't even know what to do with it all.
I wish I could downsize to a smaller bag, but I have to carry my laptop back and forth. My school laptop has been broken since September, and the district IT guys still haven't fixed it. I refuse to leave my personal laptop in my room, so it goes back and forth. Ugh.
