    Good video. But to remind everyone that not to turn the middle T40 hex nut too much or the whole assembly of the tensioner will come loose in pieces. Just half a crack of a turn anti-clockwise will get the tension release and a half to full turn clock wise to tighten. And just push the pulley down. The spanner is good idea but absolute fiddle to have both tools shoved in that small gap.
    I know I just did this job on 206 today.

    I have just took a alternator and power steering unit and drive belt of a citroen xsara picasso 2.hdi and i can tell you i never want to ever take one of again. And thats before i install the new alternator.. I have done loads on old cars the easy type lol 2 bolts. I may have saved my self about 2.80 to 300 pounds doing it my self but if i had the money i would let some pore buger do it in a garage. Nightmare

    Perfectly explained with no BS intros or other useless info shoved in. Replaced the head gasket last year and I guess I didn't get the new alternator belt tight enough as it started to slip now with the snow melting and water puddles splashing everywhere which probably got the belt slippier than usual so I need to go adjust it before the belt is ruined

    Hi can I try this myself! I hope so, I have to ask my father for work tools :)
    I don't want to pay Euro 230,- for making such a stupid small thing at the garage..they wish!

    My job for tonight following the pump replacement. I don't have a 27 metre spanner as mentioned at 2:52 though, so will do it with a 27 milimetre one instead ;o)
    Thanks for saving me a lot of time though.

    thx! I was about to change my timing belt and water pump on my 306 but got stuck on the removal of fan belt... I'm used to working on old cars and looking for a screw based tensioner not the roller its self

    Is always recommended to replace the tensior with the belt? Or not? How would you decide?

    • @formatique_arschloch
      @formatique_arschloch 3 роки тому +2

      Always better to replace it at the same time. Once in another car I did not, and couple of thousand km later the tensioner bearing blew up 200km from home.

    silly question coming up...is a fan belt, timing belt and alternator belt all different or is it the same thing?

    • @Promethium666
      @Promethium666 5 років тому

      Same thing mate.
      The air conditioning condenser, the fan heater matrix, the alternator, the water pump/powersteering pump usually all have pulleys and are operated by a belt, most people call it the fan belt or alternator belt but it is the same thing depending on what the car has which the belt powers.
      The timing belt is a different belt which is located usually in the engine and it connects your camshaft, your valves, and your pistons so they run properly together.

    Hello, a garage told me I needed this belt changed and said on my model of car (Peugeot 206) it was very time consuming to change so charged me £100 for parts and labour. From your video it looks very simple and quick, and like I could have done it myself. In your opinion have I been overcharged? Should I go back to the garage and complain? Thanks in advance
