- Petula Clark - The show is over
The show is over now
Our song is dying
This is the end my friend
There isn't any more
You played the part so well
There's no denying
For i believed each lie from lipps that i adore
I was a fool to feel that your love was real
But how was I to know it was just a great big show
The stage is empty now
the lights are fading
and as the curtain falls
my heart calls tell me why
the show is over now and here am i
(instrumental)
( I was a fool to feel that your love was real)
But how was i to know it was all a great big show
The stage is empty now
The lights are fading
And as the curtain falls
My heart calls tell me why
The show is over now and here am i
Magique, magnifique sublime merci
❤
This song was played at the funeral of a lovely friend Keith, who died in January of this year in Blackpool. You are so missed my friend and listening to this again reminds me so much of you. You are in the thoughts of many, especially your wonderful partner Gordon. God bless xx
Oh, this brings back memories. I worked as a projectionist in the 60s at The Embassy Cinema in Tenterden Kent UK. We used to play this number each evening after the last performance to see the customers out. The former art deco cinema sadly closed down in 1969. Listening to this classic Petula Clark song transported me back to my teenage years again. Thanks for posting
Poignant youthful memories from the 80s when this big band song boomed out across the dance floor to tell punters of the infamous Gemini club in Huddersfield to go home. Thank you for uploading.
I remember this with fond memories of 'chucking out' time at The Bears Paw in Liverpool in the 70's
Played at the end of the evening at The Magnum Club, Southampton. Wonderful memories.
Beautiful from a true star
This brings me right back to the glorious Gemini Club in Huddersfield in the 70s. I'm grinning like a lunatic just thinking of it. Fabulous.
I remember it well.. For me at least those were the good times when people actually had time for each other and were more pleasant generally. Then of course there was "downstairs", but maybe best not to go into detail about that on here. Great and happy times. :)
Charles Standing wish I'd seen your post earlier as I've just recalled the same memories at the Gemini. I think they turned on the bright halogen lights in the upstairs club to encourage punters to leave! I chauffeured Drag artiste Barry Stevens for 8 unforgettable months.
Loved that club ☺️❤️
@@foleyartist62 Barry Stevens with his can of colt 45 😂
I worked with a guy who did drag , he closed his show to this as many others did too.. it was magical then and now brings back such wonderful memories ..
Phil Starr?
Candy du Barry my mate xx
Yeah I remember drag artist making this the last song in the Fun pubs back in the great 80's
I have truly seen many but if I could choose one ? Ricky Glass of Ricky's Bar in Gran Canaria.
The best femail vocalist we have ever had nobody comes anywhere near close to her
Dusty Springfield??
Jackie Trent?
Wonderfull to be able to hear this great song again
A great song. This was always the last song played at The Flying Handbag Public House in Blackpool. It brings back wonderful memories of naughty weekends away.
I used to go into the Flying Handbag, greats place
The Sow Is Over Now, the End Tune at the Ponderosa Bar, Amsterdam, Warmoestraat, at the end of the 60ties. Great place for dancing. DJ plays SoulMusic and many life performances like Rosa King. Good Times for American G.I.'s who were stationed in Germany.
Used to play this at the end of the night at gay club in Southampton Harvey's in the 70 s
Yes in Wolverhampton too
Eternal!
love this song x
Brillant I I used 2 drag this
wonderful, she should be made a DAME.❤
Thanks for this - brings back so many memories.
Petula at her best this tune could have easily been an A side , classic
But This is my Song was her No 1 at the time, female songwriters weren't considered great back in the day except perhaps for Carol King.
I'd like to hear Bassey cover this one day.
😘💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕Petula
Thank you!
The last record at the end of the evening played at the Tottenham Royal many years ago.
Muziek die nooit vergeten zal worden
❤👍
Ohhhh... I was 12....😢
Brill for finishing a music performance 😂
Ameritz has a backing track for this and some of her other songs. :)
Why is this (one of her best songs) NOT to be found on Spotify or Itunes?!
I completely agree Jaap! It was often the last song when in Amsterdam in the 70s the gay 'dancing', het DOK (De Odeon Kelder), closed at 4am. Good to see you here!
Hee Frankieboy! Alles goed in NY!?
Hier lekker regenachtig. Blijft prachtig.
ahoy
