Has this year gone madly quickly for you too?! We can't believe there's only one month left before the little one is here! Whether you've been with us since the beginning, or if this is your first video you've come across, thanks for joining us this week!! We'd also love to know what your go to winter warmer drink is...comment and let us know! ☕
Jack, I was touched to hear your feelings for Gabby. She is amazing, but so are you. Your baby will have wonderful parents who love, respect and cherish one another. ❤
@@thistinylifeget a beko washing machine they are excellent and quick if you get a digital one takes 28 mins for a 30 degree wash, 38 for a 40, 58 for 60 and just over 1 hour for a 90 which is great they are also silent if you go for a 10kg beko digital washing machine.
Jack, the moment that baby is in your arms is something you will never forget, your life really does centre around baby from now on. Gabby all I can tell you is your body knows what to do and will guide you through the birth. Keep calm, remember to do your deep breathing and just enjoy the gift of a new life. If baby gets half the love you two show each other that is all they need. Food, warmth and love. Exciting times ahead!
I completely understand the feeling you're getting moving the wood knowing it's going to keep you warm in the winter, there's something visceral about providing for yourself be it food, fuel, making your own clothes, building out your home to suit you. It's the basis of life, how we're meant to live not just switching on a central heating controller on the wall. Be yourselves & be happy ❤🌼🌱
You’ll both be amazing parents - what you’ve achieved over the last few months is huge, and I have no doubt you’ll be ready for the baby to arrive. Ultimately babies are stationary for several months and do nothing but sleep and eat, so you’ll have time to finish things off and childproof the boat before he/she is mobile. You could follow the Scandinavian model and use a cardboard box as a crib for the first few months. Very eco friendly, easy to get hold of and recycle afterwards.
Wow only 1 month. Well done on stocking up with the wood. I love how Tilly is part of everything, you are going to be the best loving parents, so thrilled for you both ❤❤
Aww bless you guys for sharing your journey and your thoughts with us, just know that baby is gonna be so lucky having u guys as mum & dad, all the best for the coming weeks.❤
Jack and Gabby, I feel privileged to have a peak into your lives. Slow living was a concept I had never heard of prior to finding your channel. You have everything you need to have your baby. They need love and you both have plenty of that! As far as a place to sleep, I had a friend whose baby slept in the drawer of a dresser- not in the dresser - they used the drawer as the crib. It worked perfectly. I do remember on the way to the hospital, me telling my husband, I’m not ready , who thought it was ok for me to have a baby. Turn around I can hold it!! Yes I was adult! It was just the sheer enormity of what was happening. You are about to have the best adventure of your lives! It’s worth every minute. Thank you for a lovely video! Donna
Thanks so much for leaving such a lovely comment Donna! I'm not sure we'll ever feel ready enough... I'll probably say something similar haha. Jack's all for the dresser drawer,.it may make an appearance!
I get the firewood thing... I love a good open fire and it is so satisfying to stock up and know that you will have a cozy fire to snuggle up to during the winter months. You are both so inspiring and we can see the gratefulness that you have for life.... narrowboat living reminds me of growing up at my grandparents cottage and is so nostalgic and I have so many amazing memories and hope the I can experience that again. You truly look like you are living your dream lives and we so love live vicariously through you. 💖
You guys are so lovely. I really enjoy watching your videos and catching up with what's been going on. No one ever feels completely ready to become parents, but I can assure you that it is the most rewarding, beautiful journey you can share. Can't what to meet your new arrival x
I have been really enjoying your videos. My decendants were barge families and ive always felt an alignment, but so enjoy a first hand depiction of life on the waterways. Thankyou so much, keep warm, enjoy your last few weeks of twosome, life changes alot! x
I can't wait for baby to arrive! Can't wait to know the gender and the name hehe 😁 I only found your channel about 6 weeks ago, but started from the first video and have rushed them all to watch to present day so I can watch for baby videos without skipping any previous vids 😋🤗 x
Awww you are both amazing and the baby is lucky to have such loving parents we are so proud of you both and thank you for sharing your story and journey with us all our love your oldies🤗🤗🤗🤗
You’re both going to be amazing parents - the way you live your life and the love you have for each other and this baby really is evident. As for what you need for bubs at the start - some clothes, some form of nappies, a blanket, somewhere safe to sleep (be that co sleeping or a bassinet) and a car seat are really all you need. A baby wearing wrap and/or a pram are nice to have (if you get a pram with a bassinet it can double as a bed for the first few months if needed), as is a bouncer, but they are by no means essential.
Absolutely love being invited to look into your tiny world. Thank you for the vlogs, you're a lovely couple- if a bit daft sometimes.....Jack. showering in the cold- priceless! Xxx😊
You both are going to be the best parents. I cannot believe how fast this year as gone. Good luck for the future with you and your new baby. As everyone says you don’t need much for a baby just love. ❤❤
Hi Jack and Gabby. Glad you’ve got a good supply of wood for the stove sorted and the tap for the bath works too. Sending you loads of good wishes for the next month. It’s so good to see how much the baby is going to be loved. I’m sure you’ll make really great parents 🥰 Take care. Nick
You can buy stores for your wood. My brother and sister in law have a couple of them in their back garden. With pouring the chi, use a ladle, and ladle it into your strainer.
Another lovely video. Wanted to let you know we finally published the video where Wendy and I had the pleasure of meeting you both on towpath. It was one of the many highlights of our cruise, thank you for your time and yes, Lower Heyford was awesome!👍
Enjoy so much watching your positive outlook and satisfied lifestyle. Watching your excitement of the coming event brings back memories of our first child.
As a new parent you will always feel like you don't have everything for your little one. It's not until months go by and you realize you actually didn't need all the things you thought you did. As a winter mom my main concern was keeping my little one warm. All I can say is layers is your friend. They need much more than you think especially if the room doesn't stay extremely warm 24/7. If you need anyone to chat with about having a winter baby feel free to reach out 😊.
Good luck with the baby. You will be amazing parents, and yes you need much less than most people think for the baby, somewhere to sleep something to wear, some milk and a big amount of love. ❤ enjoy your time as parents, it's over so soon. ❤
Gabby you look so Beautiful ...you both are going to make amazing parents..love your stove...the tiny baby clothes so cute...Soo happy to see your video pop up,been watching for a while now...love your videos 😅 God Bless!!
Not long now! Just a quick tip for space and water saving baby bathing: get a bucket style tub like Shnuggle or Tummy Tub - they're small enough to fit in a sink and very comfortable for the baby.
Aww that was such an emotional video guys, especially at the end jack when you were saying how much gabby means to you, it almost brought a tear to my eye. I'm so glad to be able to follow your journey
. I was lucky to have had my husband in my life for 52 years until his death 2 years ago . Love and be thankful for each other . Time is very precious .
Re your Chai you should put your herbs and spices into a tea infuser so you don’t need to worry about straining the tea. A tea pot would also help more with your directional pouring ….. and no mess. Enjoy. ❤
Jack, how wonderful to hear your heartfelt admiration for Gabby. You are both fantastic and so well suited. You have adapted to your new life so well and I am sure are going to make incredible parents. Hope all goes smoothly at the birth, when the time comes,😮 and remember being parents is full of learning curves, with often no right or wrong way of doing things. Listen to others advice, but ultimately follow your hearts and you won’t go far wrong. Blessings to you both and continue to treasure your wonderful way of life. Best wishes Helen 😀 & Barney 🐕🦺
Jack it’s only a small load but it will keep you warm. We are stocked up with wood in four log stores around the house. With your stove you will end up having the hatch open as it will be too warm. Enjoy.
I just love you two, you have such a lovely relationship, you care about each other very lovingly. I love to watch, your little doggy Tilly is gorgeous too. See you next week.x
I am enjoying your journey ! I remember when we were expecting our first baby and she was born 40 years ago. Your journey's taking me back through it. A magical and terrifying time. You guys have your priorities right and you'll do great. That little baby is lucky to have you both. I'm in California and I have to say there's nothing here like the British canals.
SO love the baby updates and seeing how you all are doing and getting ready for the winter, the baby clothes look amazing and we are looking forward to seeing more of you all , God bless you both and the baby ~
Only just found you guys in the past week and since then I have been struck with a cold 🤧 But you guys have become my comfort channel to watch ! Congrats on the 👶🏼 and I can’t wait to watch you story unfold 🤍
You are both so sweet. You will be awesome parents. The only advice I got that I really appreciated I will pass on to you. You know your baby best and the decisions you make will always be the right ones for you and baby. I raised my son while renovating or building homes for his whole childhood. We all loved it. A home is where the people and animals you love live, There are a lot of so called beautiful homes without any love in them at all. Be so proud of yourselves. Best wishes from Canada.
Friends of mine had a sailboat and they put their infant into a hammock. One in the bedroom and one in the living room. They basically put the boat in charge of rocking the baby to sleep!
Put a lid on the pan when you go to pour. It will contain all the bits and not spill all over for you! Cheers! Wishing you well with the wee one on the way 💗
We live in a "normal" house and have central heating. But we also only use the woodburner. We forage our wood true the year. Saw and chop it together. And i always give me a rich feeling when i see all that wood ready for winter ❤
I love heating with our Woodburner, we forage our wood and I completely get the beginning of winter happy log store feeling.... love you videos guys thankyou 💜🦋💜
Amazing vlog. well done on getting the wood on board. I think that was so lovely what you said about Gabby being so strong and she is certainly looking great pregnant. Look forward to more. Take care xx just moved onto my boat tonight! Just in time for winter. Anyway good luck with it all. You will both be amazing parents.
I probably would get a small gravy ladle to help with getting the chai from pot to cup. And with storage at a premium the smaller gravy ladle would be better than the larger soup ladle.
For your tea you need a milk pot. It has a small open spout for pouring. Oh the pot had one. Need to be deeper as you said. My old one, was my grandma's, has a deep spout.
Have you got space to make a wood store on the exterior of the canal boat, even a temporary one? Also, get a small ladle - much less mess when getting liquid from pan to mug!
@@thistinylife a SMOL ladle though - not a big one. IKEA used to do them in sets of two - one large, one small. Then hold mug as much over the pan as you can, ladle into mug 😁. I have shaky hands, but have not had a mulled wine/cider emergency since I started using said smol ladle. Also, yes it’s entirely possible to do it non-alcoholic. I am not allowed the good stuff anymore (histamine argh), but I reserve the right to make my mulled wine and cider without alcohol and it is EVERYTHING. I start the first batch at the beginning of December and keep going for the whole month. It deffo tastes better once it’s had time to sit and mature.
Anyone who has done any living in the wild, whether it be for a weekend, a holiday, or (as in my case) by long-term choice, has to be a bit loopy. But the rewards from doing it far outweigh the temporary inconveniences. Your immediate future is filled with unknowns brought on by the arrival soon enough of another human being who will be totally dependent on you two for everything, including life. You both have good brains and make great choices. No worries!
Thank you for this lovely comment, it was lovely to read ✨ We think we're a bit loopy for living a life this but you're totally right, the rewards outweigh any negatives!
Hi Jack & Gabby, if the UK is anything like OZ, house prices are unobtainable and renting is equally bad. Young ppl’s choices are, get on the treadmill and be stressed, or do what you have done. Your choice will be much better for your relationship and your child. I’m positive all will be good and I wish you both all the best for the upcoming birth :)
You need a purpose made sauce pan to be able to pour without spills. You two are an amazing couple and your baby will have loving parents and be lucky enough to be bought up in nature. Good luck with the birth preparations I hope everything goes easily and well for you. X
I have a wood burner in my house, and I still struggle with space for all the wood so hats off to you!!. I do harvest as many pallets though for free wood that I can get as long as they're only heat treated. Free wood. Burns great.
Totally relate to the gathering, moving, stacking of wood. I get sooooo excited when it’s time to get ready. It makes me feel both prepared and secure. Lovely to see you both happy and getting ready for your new arrival. ❤ A soup ladle for your chai would work x
Suggestion for not making a mess when pouring you chai. Use a ladle to take the chai between pan and mug. I’m about six months behind your videos atm but catching up by watching several a week 😊
Good luck with baby, very exciting. Remember to enjoy it, and good luck doing it on the boat. For pouring from jugs, key is confidence, try to pour more quickly and commit. (Won't try to give you advice on babies, you'll get plenty of that!)
It's about the spout being the right shape, not the size of the saucepan. My milk saucepan is small but I haven't spoilt milk with it yet. I also poach eggs in mine and they're good for making sauces. I'll stop commenting now and leave you to it. Love this video and so looking forward to seeing bub😊
Bless you both. It's been great watching you and sharing your experiences. You have made great progress on the boat. Things take time and you are doing your best. Take care.

Hey Helen and Barney! Thanks so much for such a lovely comment and advice, means a lot 🥰🥰
I think I would need a sturdier plank if I was carrying a baby onto a boat! Love this.
The plank is just for the delivery on the opposite side of the canal! No plank needed where our mooring 🙂

Thank you Sally! See you next week ✨
Thanks!
Thank you so much ✨🥰
Amazing vlog. well done on getting the wood on board. I think that was so lovely what you said about Gabby being so strong and she is certainly looking great pregnant. Look forward to more. Take care xx just moved onto my boat tonight! Just in time for winter. Anyway good luck with it all. You will both be amazing parents.
Thanks so much 🙏 hope you had a good first night onboard, welcome to the water!
You both will be good parents. Looking forward to the arrival.
Thanks Christine ✨
@thistinylife you are so welcome.
I probably would get a small gravy ladle to help with getting the chai from pot to cup. And with storage at a premium the smaller gravy ladle would be better than the larger soup ladle.
I'm so excited for you two. Bless you and little one.❤
Hi Jack, I'd recommend a milk saucepan. You'll pour successfully every time
You will be fine. I managed with 5 children on my boat. It gets better after the first month, cos you get into a routine XXX
Thank youuu, five must have been a bit more of a challenge but amazing! Thank you✨
For your tea you need a milk pot. It has a small open spout for pouring. Oh the pot had one. Need to be deeper as you said. My old one, was my grandma's, has a deep spout.
Or a ladle... We'll get better 🤣🤣
I pour into a pyrex jug with a wide top. Much less spilled
Have you got space to make a wood store on the exterior of the canal boat, even a temporary one? Also, get a small ladle - much less mess when getting liquid from pan to mug!
Ladle definitely needed... We'll have a wood store on the towpath eventually!!
You two are amazing people, I hope all goes well with the baby, looking forward to seeing a new member of the crew ❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍☕️
Thanks so much Nigel ✨✨
Love will overcome all obstacles x
You are both beautiful people x God bless you all. Xx
Thank you so much ✨
Thanks
Thank you so much, means a lot! 🙏
I have a wood burner in my house, and I still struggle with space for all the wood so hats off to you!!. I do harvest as many pallets though for free wood that I can get as long as they're only heat treated. Free wood. Burns great.
Can't beat free wood and heat treated! Competition along the canal for pallets is high along the canal 🤣

We love you Guys. What a great Vlog. 👍 xxx❤😊
Thank you Glenn 😊😊😊
Jack you sweetheart!!
Totally relate to the gathering, moving, stacking of wood. I get sooooo excited when it’s time to get ready. It makes me feel both prepared and secure. Lovely to see you both happy and getting ready for your new arrival. ❤
A soup ladle for your chai would work x
It's so reassuring having the wood in - I'm not sure why we've never done this before 🤣 Thank you 🥰 a ladle is definitely the answer!!
Thank you
Suggestion for not making a mess when pouring you chai. Use a ladle to take the chai between pan and mug.
I’m about six months behind your videos atm but catching up by watching several a week 😊
Thanks Michaelle! ✨
Thank youuu. Perfect spout hunt begins 😅
You are an adorable couple. Your baby is going to be loved so much. ❤
Thank you ✨✨✨
Bless you both. It's been great watching you and sharing your experiences. You have made great progress on the boat. Things take time and you are doing your best. Take care.
Thanks so much Yvonne, hopefully the next couple of weeks we'll have a good balance of resting and super progress.. let's see! 🥰
