Great video! I've been cutting back my wardrobe after moving overseas and changing from working in an office to working for myself, so I find I have all these pieces I no longer need. I think I need to take the plunge with Project 333 - really enjoying your channel!
Thank you Stefanie London ! That must be a huge change, especially as it means that many of those pieces you no longer need. Project 333 is great and I think you can definitely relax the rules a little and do it your way if you're a bit nervous about having 33 items only. I didn't include shoes in mine as I have quite a few pairs and tend to try and rotate them a bit!
***** You should - it's kinda intimidating at first I think if you were like me, where you try and wear something different all the time. It's a great exercise and helps to cut down on the fat of the wardrobe :)
I've taken on the project 333 also, I love it, I always look my best, wear the stuff I love not some weird old piece in the back of my closet. Wearing alot of black makes life so much more simple, looks elegant and goes with everything as you mentioned. I love your channel and your honest concise take on minimalism.
deedee lebowski I totally agree! Sometimes I do wish that my wardrobe had a bit more colour integrated into it but even when shopping I tend to gravitate towards those more minimal black/white/neutral toned pieces so why push it right? And thank you so much for the compliment, that is so sweet! xx
Jamie-Lee Thanks for the recap, it was really helpful! ^^ I've been playing with the idea of starting Project 333 for a couple of months, not sure I could stick to it but your videos are super clear and helpful, and although I might not start before Autumn I've taken good steps in purging my wardrobe and identifying pieces that I really love. I really appreciate my clothes more now. Thank you!
***** Glad to hear that you enjoyed it! I thought about doing Project 333 for a good year I think before I finally did it, and I think that planning and easing yourself into the idea is quite helpful as it becomes less scary. Have you thought about doing 30x30?
Jamie-Lee I have but it's difficult. I recently changed jobs and I went from working from home as a freelance to an office job and my mostly casual clothes would not allow me to be corporate office-appropriate with what I currently have, nor do I have a big budget to buy new clothes. Luckily I have some dress pants and blouses saved from a few years ago and a blazer that help dress up black jeans. I really liked how you approached this project and also the 5PFW so my current goal is to stretch my current clothes, "window"-shop around and build a wishlist of good pieces, and save before getting them. :)
***** Ah I see, I can totally understand your predicament then. I sometimes find that consignment shopping can be a great way to stretch the budget a little and buy something that's either new or worn only a couple of times for a fraction of the price. I've been browsing The Real Real a bit as there are a lot of designer pieces on the site for a good price, and all seem to be in very good condition - not sure what your budget is like but always good to have as an option :) Sounds great and best of luck with it - please feel free to ask any questions as always happy to try and help where I can! xx
I agree with what you said about the special occasion. I was having fun with the 333 challenge until I got invited to a wedding! I looked cute in the dressy-casual number I wore but most of the women in attendance were way more dressed up than I. So while I did have fun, I also felt a little uncomfortable. I already know that I'm going to go slightly over the "magic" 33 number because of things like that but that's okay. I still have a smaller better-functioning, more thought-out, quality wardrobe than I had before because of my move toward minimalism.
4mydearlady So I was thinking about doing a special occasion capsule just for when I have something on, which is separate to my actual seasonal capsule? I thought that might kinda ease the issue as I like to have a few different options depending on the event and the season. It's good that you are taking a relaxed approach to it though, and I agree that it doesn't matter too much as the end goal isn't to reach a number but more to reach a comfortable level with your wardrobe :)
I've put the top you are wearing on my wishlist. I really enjoy these fashion videos and I have come to prefer them over the makeup related ones in general
holbansimona Thank you for the feedback - I'm trying to incorporate a lot more fashion/minimal capsule wardrobe/style videos with the odd make up one thrown in. If there's anything in particular you'd like to see, please feel free to let me know! Also I saw the top is on sale at the moment. Just as a tip if you decide to go for it, it's about a size large (I'm generally a small size 8 AU and I got this in an AU6/US2 although I could also fit the AU4/US0 - it is quite smock like)
I definitely just used Project 333 as a guide & I got rid of a TON of clothes, but I'm not sticking to the "rules". I have a little more than 33 pieces in my summer capsule & I do have more than 1 black shirt, more than one white shirt, etc.I also didn't include my shoes, purse, of accessories. But I do LOVE my wardrobe more than I ever did & I don't mind at all wearing something more than once in a week. Just style it differently & nobody is the wiser! Thank you so much for all of your videos!!
rileyzoe1 I definitely got stuck in that trap about three years ago when I started reading Dead Fleurette, who overanalysed each of her purchases and had such a small select wardrobe; I felt like I needed to emulate that in some way, but it just isn't me! I've got a few different striped tops, a few different white blouses, but i wear them all. Styling definitely plays a huge part, I totally agree! So glad you've been enjoying my videos :)
I have a dressy capsule wardrobe in addition to my regular wardrobe so a nice dress, shoes and jacket for cold weather and same for warm weather. That way, whenever I have a wedding or dressy occasion I know exactly what I'm wearing
Love this idea! I think I would have to slightly change it up since I live near Boston MA and boy do we get weather changes! So I will do it and not include in accessories, shoes, purses, outerwear, or gym clothing (I work out at the gym constantly and there's no place else I wear the items). Since I work retail and am in the mall all day this should be interesting. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
+cowgirlup8769 I include outerwear in mine but aside from that I do mine the same as you - it's so hard to predict the upcoming season and I figure, why restrict yourself more when you should be having fun with it, right? Good luck with your P333! x
Also, as the weather changes I do a slow swap over between summer and winter capsule... a few pieces in and a few out... but you might not like that if you like sticking to the rules :)
sonyafby LOL seriously I'm so type A when I did Kayla Itsines I had to do it exactly as she laid out in the guide. Your way sounds like a natural progression from season to season rather than something which is quite strict (which I feel like Project 333 can be?)
i'm pretty happy to reinterpret rules if i don't agree with them. i don't think project 333 is mean to be strict. i think courtney always says it's "not an exercise in suffering" (something like that)
i was talking about courtney carver, the woman who started project 333. she also says she allows herself "periodic swaps at the start of each month (1 in, 1 out, for any reason during P333)" so you can stop feeling guilty for not following the rules ;)
holbansimona Cold in Sydney is around the 8 deg celsius mark - don't need to wear too many layers but it's quite chilly to me. In Canberra where my dad lives it goes down to -2 deg celsius though which I find freezing. Where abouts do you live? -15 must be so icy!

The whole picking 28 and saving the spare for extra is such a smart idea and so helpful!
Arcane Windrunner Ah I really wish I'd thought of it before I did Project 333 but it's a good take away to have for when I do the challenge again :)
very cool! i would like to do something like this as i have so many clothes that i don't wear :(
***** You should - it's kinda intimidating at first I think if you were like me, where you try and wear something different all the time. It's a great exercise and helps to cut down on the fat of the wardrobe :)
have you seen Caroline's blog Un-fancy? its about capsule wardrobes and she goes through what she picks, why, how they work and posts outfit videos. i

Thank you for the update! Very helpful as I'm new to this and putting together a capsule
***** Glad that I could help! Best of luck for your capsule - I hope that it goes well xx

Thanks so much for the recommendation, I'll check it out! :))

u can do 555 challenge lol, 333 not realistic for me.

Jamie-Lee Thank you for the tip! I am quite small anyway but where did you saw it on sale? It doesn't seem to be on sale on the KarenWalker website...
holbansimona It's on sale on the Iconic (I think it's theiconic.com.au). I've linked it in the down bar if you're having trouble finding the site x
Jamie-Lee Thank you very much! You are very kind

sonyafby Ah I had no idea - can you do a video on this please Sonya? I quite like this idea! :)
yes, i'm going to! i've been waiting for a pair of shoes for my winter dress

Also, I am curious to know what cold means in Australia in the 'winter time'. Where I live, cold means minus 15 degrees Celsius :))

Why are you saying for the Fall when you're clearly not American? It's Autumn. Let them figure it out. Stop using American terminology.
I read your comment to my husband and he said he totally agrees with you haha! x
