Hi Donna, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your tutorials. I used to watch you on Carols show and have all your books. :) It was so nice to see you sharing Yetta's technique. She was at the Philadelphia Guild one meeting where I was teaching on something and she showed me her secret in a whispered voice. Great Lady!
When you see it, it can be a reminder of all the people that learned something new and helpful from your tutorial. We'll remember it, whether you make anything with it or not. Thank you.
Loved the story about Yetta. The piece you made is kind of a miniature Mondrian. I'm not sure what I would do with it either but I think it should be seen, not tucked away somewhere!! Thank you Donna
Ms. Kato, again your patience with the clay makes it look so easy as experience rules (the vent can’t E-scape you, lol.) that was great 😂You started to say something about it setting on your desk as a reminder… but to what? Thank you as always for sharing your knowledge and in this case Yetta’s too. I love learning where things originated from and giving credit to all the amazing creators as I am a newbie in the poly world! Your work is beautiful!
Thank you! I have to check back but perhaps a reminder to be patient - a reminder I need! Yes, i remember when when showed me (the rest of the class knew her and knew her technique!, I think I giggled! So easy and clever. Great lady!😊❤️
Hi Sharon! Yes, the top is also die formed. I thought Yetta’s brilliance was in constructing the top and bottom with one cut! Gave me the giggles! So easy. What a gal!😊❤️
I loved this video! I love your comments about your pieces like, will they become something? 😂 I did learn a lot! Venting is so necessary! Thank you so much Donna 💜😁
I think it would make a lovely "pin"dant. 😊 Lovely technique and outcome. I recently revisited your domed videos for both the reusable ones and the incorporated ones like this. I've been practicing. 🤗
What a great tutorial. I want to make some of these now. Thank you so much for your thorough demonstration. I would probably make that shape a centerpiece for a necklace that has additional smaller shapes using the same colors. I love your color mixes, they look so good.
Huh! That is more simple (?) Than I've seen. And huh - you used scissors to cut the clay! I've thought about trying it once or twice but shied away. I've seen many demos/videos by Polymer Clay Artists but never have I seen anyone use scissors on Clay before! And the Venting - I have not been poking enough holes!! Sp I'm hoping to try much if not all of this tomorrow 😬 thank you so much!
Hi Danielle! Okay, curing. First of all, you can cure in your home oven. In the past, you couldn't but with the reformulation of clays, you can. Each clay cures at its recommended temperature and time. Some people pre heat. I just shove my clay in a cold oven (I know my oven reaches temp in about 7 minutes) so I add time to that. At its simplest, you'll be curing something once - you follow the package instructions. Know that you can cure multiple times. As you work, you will discover how your oven works and what to expect. Have ceramic tiles to cure flat things on and when you can work on them and cure on them so you don't ruin something moving it around. If you're curing something round or rounded, place it in a bed of baking soda to support it. Those are the basics, my friend. You'll be frustrated by it as we all are so just accept that you will be! Cheers, D
Is there a tutorial for the hollow bracelet? I looked through your videos but I didn't see one but maybe I missed it. I just love your work and love the way you teach.
Will you be offering a hollow bangle tutorial- the rainbow tractor tire class? I am really excited about that class and am wondering if you will be uploading the class here on your channel or if I need to purchase it? Would you let me know please, Donna? Thank you in advance...looking forward so much to making that hollow bangle!
Hi! You know I put it up on the Member’s Classroom. Students join and get all the classes I post. Check it out, you might want to come along! I hadn’t thought about selling classes separately but will think about it! Cheers! D ua-cam.com/channels/eRlb3K2k-_b1QAGYDuW1IQ.htmljoin
@@DonnaKatoArt Do I need a particular level in the membership to be able to access the videosand tutorials? I see that there are different levels and payment plans. With a minimum payment plan would I be able to learn the bangle bracelet tutorial? It is the one I want most to learn at this moment. Thank you again Donna. Susana
I have a place this piece could go. I love it! I would wear it often as a pendant because it goes with so many things. It would be awesome to have something made by my favorite artist...a Kato clay masterpiece. If you have any plans to sell it, please contact me. Thank you for all your videos. I love your tips and tricks. I started working with clay so many years ago, but don't have as much time to indulge in my hobby as I would like. Elementary teaching keeps me busy. 😂
I've noticed that many on YT don't appear to vent their pieces when required or they forget to show it, which isn't very helpful for those using a video as a tutorial. I wonder how many have become frustrated and lost to the the craft over this extremely simple step. One video I asked if she had vented her piece or not. She hadn't as she forgot too but it appeared to turn out fine. In hind sight I wonder if she'd had a flop and had to keep retrying to do the piece. Or it may have been a case that she didn't realise that she'd actually didn't seal the piece properly.

I love that, Peggy, I sure do, kid. 😊❤️
Thank you Mrs Donna for the very helpful tip of venting! And it would be a nice idea, perhaps, to turn the cabochon into a brooch 🤗♥️
Glad you liked it, Annita! It’s important, I think! 😊❤️
I love those colors
Me, too, Denise. Should I try to formulate them? Maybe I should do that…😊❤️
@@DonnaKatoArt 👍🏼
I think it wants to be a necklace. Thanks for another great tutorial.
It may want that, kid. Yup! It may want company, too. I think I will make some more!😊❤️
I would make earrings! That is so my style of earring! Love it so amazingly beautiful!❤
I hope you do, my friend! 😊❤️🎉

Glad you like it, Clare. I do, too. Many more to come, I think! 😊❤️
Thanks Donna I love this one I have made Hollow things before, but making the air holes will be a game changer
Oh, yes, Ellie, they are essential, my friend. 😊❤️
Donna, once again for sharing your wonderful craft with handy tips. Thank you ❤❤
My pleasure, Angela! 😊❤️
This is how I make my puffy pendants. I love puffy beads and cabs.
Yay! Good, efficient! 😊❤️🎉
Thank you again for all your tips and tricks and I would definitely use it as a pendant - gorgeous. Have a wonderful day Donna.

I always wondered where this technique came from! Beautiful…
When I met her she was in her late 70’s or mid 80’s I think. Really wonderful woman and clever! Verry!😊❤️
Lovely piece Donna :)

Venting is so difficult for me. Thank you for this helpful video.🎉
The hard part is sometimes just remembering to do it! 😊❤️
Thank you Donna. Love those beautiful colors on your cabochon

Thanks for new techniques, at least new to me.
It’s a good one, Frances! 😊❤️

@@DonnaKatoArt welcome! and I think a pendant would be so pretty.
This reminds me of Dan and Tracy’s bio forming class only there’s die forms instead of cutters but very similar. Great job Donna .

I remember Yetta. Did you know she was Cy Coleman’s sister? She had many fascinating stories about her life and her art.
Talented family! Holy cow. Martha, is Yetta still with us? I suspect she is not - when I met her in Jersey, she was quite old…😔
@@DonnaKatoArt I think she passed in the 2010s. She was into her 90’s by then. Loving your videos BTW.
I have found that if you dip a fingertip in liquid clay softener you can stroke the hard cut edge away.
Good tip, Gillian! Yes!😊❤️

How thick is your clay veneer?
