    I visited my son in the Bay Area last summer and we went to a game at Oakland. It was horrible. There was an area that had eons ago been used for kids activities, and it looked like an abandoned Old West town with cracks and tumbleweeds. Sat down 3rd base line, and there were feral cats roaming around. Totally bizarre experience

    Okay as a White Sox fan who’s always thought our stadium has been treated unfairly, yes I can go as far as to concede that it could be considered the third worst stadium in the league. I personally think it’s a lot better than that but that may just be my Sox fan biased talking. But some polls I’ve seen rank it in between the Trop and the Coliseum, which I think I just ludicrous.
    Even if we are the third worst stadium in the league, I still think it’s fair to say there’s a sizable gap in between us and the other two.

      As a Cubs fan they missed the mark on the direction their stadium is facing…instead of facing the highway they could’ve had it shifted to have downtown as the back drop…I do hope they get their new stadium in the south loop, keeps our 4-6 games a year rivalry alive 😂

    • @matthew01234

      3rd is pretty accurate in my view. I agree though. It's definitely better than both the Trop and the Coliseum. According to Oakland (probably bias) reporter Brodie Brazil the Trop is worse than the Coliseum. So if that were true and someone has Chicago ranked #2 that would make Chicago worse than the Coliseum too. That's laughable though. Coliseum is definitely the worst and Trop definitely #2. The good news is if the new White Sox stadium plan goes through it looks like the new one is going to be *really* nice. Hopefully it happens but I've heard there are some hurdles in terms of the city funding the project. That land is apparently very expensive and they are asking the city for over a billion dollars in funding which would make it one of the most expensive stadiums in MLB. But hey... In LA SoFi stadium cost over $6B and that still got built so hopefully Chicago looks at a billion as reasonable.

      To be fair, Tropicana and Oakland are so, so bad it makes the white sox stadium look like a palace. I don't know why Chase Field gets so much hate from the ginger. I've been there twice and found it pleasant.

    • @matthew01234
      @matthew01234 2 місяці тому +2

      @@rsplines12 I've never been to Chase but that stadium is older than the team itself. I'm not saying it's bad but almost 30 years is a pretty typical life span for most stadiums. There has to be some reason that MLB and the Diamondbacks themselves are asking for renovations. Something has to be going on there either in front of the scenes or more likely behind the scenes. Structures fail all the time and sometimes it's for reasons no customers are allowed to see. At the age that stadium is I'm actually surprised they are considering renovations as opposed to just a brand new stadium. Sometimes teams get new stadiums after 20 years and Chase is definitely older than that. We probably shouldn't forget that the MLB commissioner is allowed to inspect every part of every stadium including and especially the parts that the customers don't get to see. If you've ever worked in a big building it's always the places the customers can't go that are the worst. Sometimes that could even mean the supporting critical joints have weathered and changed under the desert heat. None of us know because we aren't allowed to see. Property owners will frequently let problems go on as long as possible to avoid spending money. There has to be some reason MLB is telling Arizona that the team needs renovations or a new stadium. It's not always just the fan experience that matters.

      I've heard the Trop also has the best concession and food prices in baseball. It doesn't cost an arm an a leg just to get a hot dog and a beer so that's a good thing.

    What ruined Angel stadium was it was renovation into a multipurpose stadium for the NFL Rams to occupy until they left for St. Louis and restructured it back to baseball only. It's like getting a face-lift and changing back to its original form, only making it look much worse.

  • @carlfromtheoc1788

    Angel Stadium is the 4th oldest in US MLB. It used to seat something like 65,000 until they removed a huge amount of centerfield seats to put in the rock garden. I could see the Angels playing a year in L.A. while a massive renovation is done to the stadium. Fun fact, there is an Amtak/local rail line stop on the backside of the stadium after you go through the parking lot and there are times special trains are run for Angels fans. Just beyond the train stop is a regional transportation center.

      Which one is 3rd oldest? Dodgers Stadium? I wonder if that one will ever be replaced. It doesn't get talked about being replaced much but I never really looked at Dodgers Stadium as being an "historic" stadium worth keeping around forever like Wrigley and Fenway.

      I always wanted to see what it was like to stay in the hotel in the outfield of that stadium. I'm not sure how it is now but you used to be able to walk out on your hotel balcony and basically be in the outfield during the games. It would've been great to stay in one of those rooms back when the Jays were winning World Series during '92 and '93. I think the hotel is still there but I've heard that they've changed it up so the guests can't really be seen. I think they got rid of the balconies and made the windows tinted black and the windows don't open so now they can't really be part of the game.

    • @michaeladams5636
      @michaeladams5636 2 місяці тому

      Yeah the renovations are nice but it doesn’t bump it up the list. It’s still a stupid cookie cutter looking stadium with too much concrete and it was dated buy 1997. The fact is the Blue Jays have been in need of a new stadium for some time now.

    You can go ahead and rank Chase Field one of the worst Stadiums in baseball all you want but the biggest problem the Phoenix area has is, inside a 14 year and 2 month period, The Valley of the Sun opened up four venues that cost $1,118,000,000. This is probably the main reason why the Coyotes are having difficulty getting a new Arena. If they happen to stay in Arizona, then their best bet is to work something out with Glendale to return to the Arena they left or they are pretty much done in Arizona!

  • @michaeladams5636

    I’ve noticed when I rank the stadiums I have Oakland and Tampa Bay at the bottom like most then I still have Toronto and Chicago White Sox as next worst. But I also have Boston and Wrigley field below all the newer stadiums which most people don’t agree with. Even Los Angeles and Kansas City I like but they would be ranked closer to the bottom

      I've never been to either but I would guess the Coliseum based on some of the horror stories I've heard about that place. I heard there was a possum infestation so bad that the visiting announcers couldn't even use the announcing booth because it was so filled with possum feces. So they had to move to a different area and call the game from there but the seats they were in were blocked by a column so the announcers literally had to try and call a game that they couldn't even really see. Then I've also heard that the players clubhouse and dugout floods with sewage sometimes. Then of course there's Mt. Davis completely blocking the view. Most of the complaints I've heard about the Trop are just about the roof. The Trop is definitely not good but the level of grossness attached to the complaints about the Coliseum just make it sound worse to me. I'm sure there are places in both stadiums that are better than places in the other but once you consider the experience for everyone in the stadium overall including players, announcers, coaches, employees as well as the fans the Coliseum sounds like it would be worse. It's all opinion though. Everyone should decide for themselves.

    there is nothing wrong with the stadium.
    Bridgeport and Armor Square are not dangerous areas of the city
    The stadium is unfairly accursed of not being like camdon yards
    the food and beer options are great
    many of the complaints to the stadium can be applied to Kaufman and dodger stadium with very similar layout but those are no where nearly as hated as the sox.
    Wrigley is incredibly overrated being more of a museum they play baseball in then a comfortable experience.

      White Sox stadium is far from a great stadium. Your correct about the food though. They don’t get enough revenue considering Chicago is one of the largest market in the country. SL stadium does fix some of the problems. Maybe top tier free agents might be interested in playing for the White Sox once the stadium is built in 2028/2029. I doubt JR is alive by then.
