    I have been keto/carnivore for three years. My health has improved immensely, my chronic liver disease has completely reversed, I have lost over 50 pounds and gained significant strength and muscle mass. I feel better than I have since I was a young man. I'm 75 and low carb has not only saved my life, but it has improved it beyond my wildest dreams.

    People on keto/carnivore have lost quite amount of weight. So their plumpness of their skin is not there anymore. So of course you see the loose skin. But you can't ignore the labs. People's labs are very healthy. BP down. Diabetes cured. People are getting off like 5 medications. That is healthy to me.

    Great answers! Coincidentally I turned 65 today and so this milestone had me asking myself how young do I truly feel... I could almost say 25, though I shouldn't be ridiculous... so I'm saying 35. Except for the grey in my hair nothing else much gives away my age 👴🏻 #KETO

    So funny. I've been on keto/low carb for 4 years. People ask how I'm aging in reverse...repeated unsolicited complements on my skin.
    I'm 49 and feel better than I did at 40. I'm still overweight (but no longer obese) and I need to focus on fitness still...but it beats the pants off of the Standard American Diet.

    While I started out keto, I am now nutrition and ingredient conscious. I learned fathoms by following groups like this online. I learned about macros, nutrition, fasting etc. I’m not perfect, but I am happy with the way I look and feel. I started my journey at 49 and am 53 now. In these last 4 years I feel better than I ever did before. I put my scale in the closet and I’ll never look back. I’m sorry I didn’t learn about nutrition earlier. But now that I did, I know I’ll be at it for another 70 years. I watch the blue zones and plan on rubbing elbows with the blue zone population. Knowledge is power and I’ve never felt stronger about that statement as I do now. Keto is a great tool in your tool box and should use it accordingly. I like to cycle in and out. Now longevity begins.

    It is so logical. Humans have always evolved on keto and fasting. It is the natural human diet. Grains, sugar, seed oils and processed food are not. Something else: The plant based people talk about the Mediterranean diet as if it were almost plant based, just with some fish. It is not true. There is red meat (beef, sheep, goat), whole chicken with the fatty skin, porc, lard, butter, cheese, yogurt, cream, eggs in Mediterranean diets. Greetings from France!

    The ketogenic diet was first developed to treat drug resistant epilepsy. And it has done that very successfully too. Based on that fact alone how on earth can anyone refer to it as "crap"? Considering also the fact that the keto diet assists in brain function perhaps the original commenter should seriously consider trying out the keto diet for themselves. On a serious note, I've got to try keto. I've been meaning to learn more about it for some time as I am epileptic which is well controlled with medication but there's just so many health benefits to keto and it's got to be better than the crap I eat at present. I've taken so many other steps to improve my health but my diet needs a serious overhaul.

    I’m in week 13 of my keto diet (20g of carb max) and intermittent fasting (and OMD)… the diet is going well BUT I’m experiencing extreme fatigue in the gym. I have very little endurance for both aerobic as well at weight workouts. I have been searching the net to find out why and also see if other people are experiencing this issue. So far, I did not find any answers so I’m reaching out to see if anyone has similar experiences with this diet. Thank you in advance! ❤

    • @JTJaredTaylor
      @JTJaredTaylor  Рік тому +1

      Hi Op Amp, Sorry I didn't see this comment sooner. It's very normal to experience fatigue especially in the first few months. You've made some significant changes with reducing carbs and going to OMD. A couple of suggestions. 1. Make sure you're getting more electrolytes. You can make your own electrolyte drink ua-cam.com/video/uFHsUMIZQCM/v-deo.html our you can buy one. My go to is a brand called LMNT. Take it before or during your workout. 2. If you're focusing on weight lifting I would consider decreasing the duration of the workout to 30 minutes total and increasing intensity. Do less sets and reps but make them difficult. Then stop.
      3. Consider adding more fat do your meal. 4. Consider eating two meals in a day once in a while. 13 weeks might feel like a long time but it can take quite a while to really become fat adapted. When I first started keto I was training for ultra-marathons and I felt terrible for a good 9 weeks then started feeling better but it took several more weeks to really start feeling really "good" and to get back to my previous fitness level. Strength training is a bit different. You typically rely on glucose a bit more so your body may take longer to adjust. I hope this helps.

      @opamp7292 Рік тому +1

      Hi JT, really appreciate your response! I have not been consistent with taking electrolytes. I do notice that when I get dizzy and take some, it helps. I’ll try to take more during the day. As for fat intake, I try to have 75% of my meal from fats the rest is protein. My carbs are from the meats and raw cheeses. I do drink one cup of coffee in the mornings.
      Thank you for the encouragement and I will stick with this new lifestyle ( is more then a diet). I use to consume a great deal of artificial sweeteners with my whey protein and lots of nuts and berries… seemed like a healthy diet. I had (and still do not) have any weight issues but my blood profiles shows high triglycerides but 140 HDL which actually may not be good after doing a bit of research on it.
      Again, thank you so much for your response!

People in the bluezone, they are not keto dieters. From my observation for the last 40 years, I believe keto diet make people look old whith shorter lifespan.

      The fundamental problem is taking keto/low-carb to be a permanent lifestyle. It is a poor one. The proper place of keto/low-carb is as short-term therapeutic diet that abolishes cravings and junk addictions, and that establishes metabolic flexibility -- helps your body remember how to burn fat (it probably "forgot" after years or decades of continual carbs). It is highly effective for these purposes.
      THEN migrate, later, to higher veg intake, and higher carbs -- better selected ones of course; liberal legumes, less or no grains. ALSO THEN start fasting, either OMAD or alt-day or whatever, and it will be much easier after tuning-up metabolic flexibility. Easy to go from keto to fasting, after an adaptation period. But going from high carb to fasting can be disabling hell. Fasting has great benefits and any diet (keto) that helps ease you into it is most commendable for that reason alone. And btw keto/low-carb is useful at the end of a longer fast, to keep yourself from eating everything in sight. After breaking a long fast hunger can quickly get out of control, but keto/low-carb serves admirably to control this. Introduce carbs gradually afterward so as not to slide quickly into idiotic binges. So, therefore, use keto at both start and end: both to get into fasting mode comfortably, and to come out of it with preserved benefit.
      The problem is when ppl try to turn keto/low-carb into a permanent lifestyle. It is a piss-poor permanent lifestyle for many reasons (health, environment, ethics). But it is a very useful short-term and specific-purpose therapeutic tool.
      For the longer term, consider lowER carb intake (if not truly low, then lowER). That means cut out or greatly reduced grains and fruits. Many ppl just cannot handle even the "complex carbs", which metabolize quickly to sugar.
      And btw keto can be done as a vegetarian and even vegan, if you wish. Coconut fat, MCT oil (ketogenic coconut fat fraction), flax oil (by some experience multiple tablespoons/day seems to work even better than MCT oil), nuts and seeds, green veggies. Vegetable oils are generally more ketogenic than animal sat fats. So, the diet: raw and steamed low-carb veggies drenched in ketogenic oils, and nuts and seeds.
      Add in some HIIT or resistance training as needed to quickly burn the veggie carbs and initiate/accelerate ketosis.

      Hi Wozitoya Dude, thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience here. You must look and feel great. Actually, a lot of people look younger than me. I've never had "great skin". I'm focusing on the well documented research as well as my own bloodwork which says I'm more than 8 years younger than my calendar age. Understand this video is not intending to compare diets and I'm not suggesting the keto is the only way to be healthy or the perfect diet for everyone. Those topics are really best left for other videos. Someone said "keto is aging you" I took a closer look and found that for me personally keto has actually slowed the aging process. That said, I still spend quite a bit of time in the sun and my skin pays the price. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and experience.

      There seems to be a huge push toward carnivore or meat heavy keto. This is not a requirement. You can do vegetarian keto. It might be harder to find recipes and support, but there are many that do it. There are nutrients found in meat that I believe are good for you, but they are not required. If all you do is avoid seed oils, grains and sugar; you may find better sense of well-being.
