    I just got mine yesterday brand new. I’ve been riding a hard tail for twenty years. This is a real upgrade for me. I wanted to purchase a full suspension bike with decent components and in a reasonably priced budget to get me back out on the trails. I’m not looking to ride that aggressively that I’ll be entering the X games. This will be awesome for me. Thank you for your video your information most valuable.

      Yes, the stock saddle was not very comfortable for me either. I ended up testing out quite a few and, surprisingly, ended up with a Bontrager Sport saddle on my Stance.

    Good review. Most channels are covering $8,000+ bikes. Which had better be unbelievable.
    The Stance is a great value, quality entry into full suspension. It mimics the Trance geometry without the Maestro suspension. If you don't understand how the Maestro link works, you probably don't need it.
    The Stance specs well above its price. It rides better than its price.

    I have the same bike with the original specs, Crest and Forecasters.
    Pro's: it really is a great bike for the price. Drive train is excellent, light weight, Crest fork is compatible with RS Recon or Reba, seat is better than mid price WTB, Shimano hubs are race quality, good bar, stem and rims for factory name equipment. (I've raced some enduro with it)
    Cons: grips, brakes fade and weak, rear shock is the weakest link on it, tubeless setup leaks and have to add air everyday, chain guide is essential if you shred on the DH's.
    With the right upgrades this is a very capable and compatible bike with any big brand bike in it's class.

      Suspension is working out well. Doesn't seem overly bouncy and the rebound adjustment, especially on the rear, is easy to dial in. Now, please keep in mind this is coming from a guy who hasn't had a full suspension air shock bike before, so take that for what it's worth.

    Glad you like the Stance 2! I had the Stance 1 last August, 9 left in the USA, sold out. 1x12 makes total sense, way less servicing, combine a 29 wheel you'll be clearing hills /rocks like never before. I'd add a 203 mm front rotor, send the front rotors to the rear. It will increase the stopping power of a fast rolling 29 for cheap.

    This bike is on my short list, but i am concerned about the quick release at the rear will.
    I am afraid that the extra flexibility will cause disk brake rubbing.
    I am also concerned that the smaller disk rotor at the back will decrease stopping power and i tend to brake a lot on downhills.

    Love the video and the bike looks great! I currently have a trek marlin 5 hardtail and I’m looking at getting one myself; the only thing I’m not sure about is the suspension being sr suntour rather than fox or other higher end brands (I know this is reflected in the great price). I don’t hit overly hard trails, and don’t really do jumps so was just wondering up if you think the sr suntour set up will hold up over time so I don’t have to replace/ upgrade and if you’ve had any issues in the time you’ve had the bike? Cheers

    • @randompastimes
      @randompastimes  3 роки тому +1

      Hello! The SR Suntour shocks have worked well for me so far. Keep in mind I'm more of a trail rider, not a big jumper. I primarily wanted the full suspension setup to smooth out the ride and help with keeping grip vs having the rear wheel bounce around a lot. This bike has been working great for that. I love the Deore 1x12 setup as well. So much nicer than having multiple front chain rings, and the clutch on the derailleur really keeps everything nice and tight.

    • @captainsplendid4532
      @captainsplendid4532 3 роки тому +1

      Don't be put off by SR Suntour suspension; they make some serious high-end stuff too, which is ridden by someof the best pros. The Raidon is the lower of the more serious end of Suntour's product line. My stance came with the Axon fork, which is next up from the Raidon, and honestly, it performs better than my RockShox Reba ever did. Also, the Suntour forks are so easy to service compared to others. The Raidon R rear shockis easily equivalent to the RockShox Monarch R on many more expensive models. People associate SR Suntour with really cheap suspension, but forget that they also make stuff that competes very well with Fox and RockShox etc. on performance. I would be happy if my next bike had Suntour on it, and I love jumps and drops.

      I don't think you can really pick a best between those two, it really comes down to personal preference. However, if you are going to tackle gnarly terrain there is a reason most people are on full sus. The impact absorption is something a hardtail just can't match.

    I have the option of buying the Giant Stance 29 2 (2021), and the Polygon Siskiu T7. The Giant is at my local shop so I can personally see it, find the perfect size, and it is cheaper. I found the Polygon online but I obviously can't find the perfect size. I will just use my height. The giant is $150 cheaper and is 4 pounds lighter. I was told by a few people that overall the polygon is a better bike (not using price just material and build). Both are pretty much the same overall. I really cannot choose which one I should get.

      It's ok, but not the best for gnarly descents. It's a short travel trail bike with a 67 degree head angle, which means it is very versatile, but will have limitations in the super-steep gnarly stuff, bigger jumps etc. It's fine on mildly technical trails.

    • @mctg9043
      @mctg9043 2 роки тому +1

      @@randompastimes Funny you should say that, I'm getting a Polygon siskiu D7 very soon and I'm having a very hard time choosing size.
      One of the best numerics for sizing is RAD (rider area distance). It measures how much movement space you have on your bike. You know a bike will fit you if your RAD matches its RAD.
      To measure your RAD, stand up straight with riding gear on and move your hands as far down as possible without bending over of bending your arms. Make fists with your hands and measure the distance from the ground to your knuckles. This video explains it really well and you can see how they do it: ua-cam.com/video/rHagRovHSYs/v-deo.html
      To measure your bike's RAD, it's the distance from the midpoint of the bars to the bottom bracket. However, since you can't measure this before buying the bike, you can just plug in the stack and reach numbers into the formula for the diagonal of a triangle (a²+b²=c²) to get the RAD of any bike. Or you can just use a triangle calculator like this one: www.calculator.net/triangle-calculator.html
      but be sure to make the degree number 90⁰ at the top. Just write the stack and reach numbers in the two boxes.
      Another simpler and quicker alternative is to multiply your height in centimetres by 2.5. That'll give you your rough optimum reach for any bike. It's not as accurate as the other method though. You can just incorporate both methods for the best accuracy.
      As an example, my RAD is about 780mm. After using the triangle calculator and plugging in the stack and reach numbers of the polygon siskiu D7 size large (616 and 464), I got 760. That's close enough to my RAD for the bike to feel really nice and in control.
      As for the other method, I'm 180cm tall (5"11'), and multiplying that by 2.5 gets 450, and that's also close enough to the reach number, 465.
      Im probably going to get the large because of my RAD being closest to that size, but even if it's too big bikesonline accepts refunds within the first 2 weeks.
      Hope that helps.

But, once again, I wouldn't necessarily call a setback post "weird" (especially when it's Thomson, one of the most well know seatpost manufacturers) when it has the exact same amount of setback as the factory post.

      @@randompastimes Doesn't the bend in the post stop you from lowering it enough for steep descents?

      Most of the trails I ride don't have long sections of steep descents. For those spots I'm able to hang off the back.

    Nice looking bike but poor quality control or poor transport.Rear wheel has major issues right out of the box. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Rear axle is bent! Derailleur is misaligned.Since the rear wheel comes assembled I would have expected better.Assembly instructions poorly written, but that was not unexpected...just annoying.I just had the bike checked at a shop and was told that I should contact the seller about getting a whole rear wheel assembly with cartridge. (The bike shop could not do anything to help me).Not a good experience with this bike, so lesson learned.Added 3 stars for excellent customer serviceUpdate Sept 8 2020Just received a complete replacement wheel for free. Great service and an otherwise fine bike.

      That's why I only buy from the dealer themselves, in the physical stores
