Oh, God. I swear that I almost cry of happiness when heard 150,000 elephants and increasing. I hope this is not interrupted.
Then why don't they just relocate them to other parts where the numbers are in decline
shemar Wittock cos human conflict is the cause of their decline in those other areas i.e. too dangerous for them as they’re not protected from poaching etc.
@@Asdfghjkl-ls1or still it will be a better option than to take down half of their population
I believe logistics is the problem. I am no expert, but I'd assume that moving several thousand animals that weigh several tons wouldn't be the cheapest endeavor.
@@Kuolonen they can simply take the calfs and form a new herd in captivity then release them back in the wild when they are old enough
shemar Wittock this is not the most natural way as the calves need their parents instead we should try to resolve the issues in the other countries as this a long term solution that is needed anyway.
Environmental catastrophe? Aren't humans doing that already? Can any agencies help these poor elephants?
Yes, in China,America and India mostly.
I wish there was another button besides “like“or “thumbs up” can’t bring myself to “Like“ this tragic story
*Raina Fortini ... The 👍🏼 is you like that they posted the video .... Or you 👎🏼 is you dislike that they posted the video❗️....... Quite a reasonable choice I think❗️*
It sounds tragic to you Raina bcoz i) you don't even know the real elephant ii) you don't know the location of kalahari in the world iii) you don't value your life or any other human life iv) you're the kind of dude who is just super ignorant and who doesn't want to go to the ground and see and talk to the affected people. If you can pack your stuff go to Botswana in the Chobe area and experience it first hand and see the population of Elephants. Remember they're not kept in the zoo like your western countries
@@mzee5533 bro please just shut up. He was just saying that he feels sad about their fate lol
Save the poor elephants 🙏😢🐘
I really hope they dont decide to cull the elephants.
Lets not shoot 60,000 elephants.
What if that meant 80k elephants starve to death, along with 10 different species that rely on a balanced ecosystem.
Naturally humans blame human made problems on non humans.
Love elephants
Elephant culls have ended up making things worse, not better.
We need human population control more than anything else. The ecological disaster caused by us and the many species driven to extinction if not on the brink calls for it. Limit the number of children. I have no plans of having children and even if I do change my mind, 2 will be pushing it.
peterinbrat agree
@@pastordonkoh7692 It didn't work positively in China.
@@pastordonkoh7692 they are already doing that, everyone is just to ignorant to notice.
@@pastordonkoh7692 and you say that we need to be culled, are you willing to die too then ?
Really tragic humans are the biggest problem to these magnificent animals, more needs to be done it’s a selfish cruel world.
Nature lover👌💞
Too heart wrenching to watch ... I stop half way. 😭
Relocating surplus elephants is an option, isn't it?
Where would they go really..that is native.
Relocate elephants could be a tough task.
Not really, they are several tons behemoths that can easily die from sedation and stress especially those that are wild and not used to transportation. You would need lots of trucks to make the job done but how would a truck be able to reach to them without any concrete road on the savanna? And after that, there’s chance that the elephants might also transmit disease from one place to another as well. They would have to be quarantine which again, is not as easily done as smaller animals.
In the end, making delicious canned elephants sound like a much easier, cheaper solution when there’re too many elephants.
God that's heartbreaking.
Great footage.i like it
NOOOOO CULLING
Elephants think: "it should be the other way around"..
Nice video.
These creatures just can't get a break!
喜歡💕很好👍可惜沒有中文字幕。
Subhan allah
I’ll take some in my back garden
👍 Nice
Maybe relocate several hundred to national parks and wildlife reserves in Kenya, if there is enough funding. This could ease the situation a bit and provide increased genetic diversity for the kenyan elephants
Botswana just opened the legal hunt on elephants, come on bbc
"nooo, those poor elephants!1!1"
*Eats burger*
Yeah but Cows aren't as cool as elephants.
If the elephants blessed the rains, there would be more water
Thank God for you. I wish I could do more. At least I didn’t have children like most of the rest of the worlds population could do it for all the wrong reasons all the wrong mindless reasons why don’t we talk about overpopulation of human beings anymore?
Raina Fortini Because we’re selfish creatures. We REALLY NEED a one child policy for the most populous countries of the world.
Look what we do to the environment? We wouldn't cull humans to solve the problem as we understand that people have rights. Elephants, individuals who value their lives, also have rights, and we should respect that. We have to come up with other solutions.
Well they can relocate some of them
So, now you're complaining that the number of elephants is too high in Botswana, thanks to conversation efforts? And some 60 thousand elephants are expected to be shot as a result? What's the difference between you and poachers?
Motivations? Outcomes? Everything that matters?
Why not just take some of the excess pollution and place them into areas of Africa that they should be found within but aren’t anymore?
They are different sub species of elephant in different parts
Lol, "mike", native of the bush..
Everyone wanna be a elephant but nobody wanna really be a elephant smh poor elephant!!! NO CULLING!!!
As populations grow, resources become scarce in the threatened ecosystem ............. who are we to judge? :(
💧🐘💧🐘💧🐘💧
Why don't they relocate some of them? Maybe places like Addo (South Africa) and Tsavo (Kenya) just off the top of my head. It sucks to potentially separate families, but it's a far better solution than killing them imo, and could also help improve gene pool diversity, particularly in Addo. 🤷🏽♀
Don't kill elephants
Would you rather they die of starvation?
There's a ted talk about environment. One old Gentleman talked about how he killed elephants as a solution.. Turns out he was wrong. It'll be a shame to repeat the same mistake.
Okay people.
Here's facts for you.
Botswana is almost the same size as France in terms of area. Compared to the 67 million people in France, Botswana only has 2.3 million people.
40% of land in Botswana is reserved for wild life only. 60% for humans. Elephants have now taken over that entire 40% and are starting to eat into the 60% reserved for humans. They're expanding so much in number that even feeding grounds are starting to suffer.
Of course you could consider moving some of them else where but have you stopped and wondered where the hell they came from in order for them to settle in Botswana? Because they are from other countries. They migrated here. So really, even if they were to be moved, they'll still come back because Botswana has been nothing but a haven for them...
Can’t they relocate
If We Don't Do Something Soon, Elephant Will Goes Extinct In 2020
They just said because of conservation they are growing too much stop doing something lol
Naturally now we have to intoduce dinosaur preadators to bring the balance.
If Botswana Govt persists with new Elle hunting policy then that will be the final nail on the coffin of Elle conservation
I used to dream to have to study and watch wild animals in Africa for a living 😿😿😿
Now I wanna watch Babar.
I hate it when people try to manage elephants like other herbivores, because they aren't like other herbivores. These are migratory nomads with a low reproduction rate. A cull could dramatically reduce the number of elephants for decades, and even completely eliminate populations when the elephants return to their wet season habitats. If they are truly such a great threat to the ecosystem, a limited hunting season should be done during the wet season when they population disperses.
And traumatize them.
God humans are such awful creatures. We need to cull ourselves, not other species. HOW ON EARTH ISN’T THAT JUST BLOODY OBVIOUS BY NOW. I guess this was one of the benefits that wars used to do.
You made me realize how powerful our conversation is in the end, and in fact really the only solution to all of the worlds problems. The only weapon I can think of is Hypnosis. Some people are lucky enough to have had wonderful teachers in life, but most have not been so lucky. We always cross our fingers and hope that bad people will change, or be inspired to do good instead of evil, and to some degree this has how it’s always been and has worked I guess(?) but with more of an effort to build this kind of consciousness we need to make people realize the answers to all of our biggest problems are sometimes a simple as changing direction, changing our minds. Words can be like bullets. Words can be like cures for cancer. Great conversation can stop people in their tracks bring everybody to their TV screens to watch history being made… But not man-made history manipulating people into the same old popularity contest way of doing things.
Culling time!
Instead maybe move them to the place where numbers are lowering so they can breed and repopulate
Culling is very different to trophy hunting. At least remove that part of the plan. And destroy the ivory on the spot.
Lot of kitten cuddlers in the comment pretending they know as much as boots-on-the-ground conservationists
Impossible my 'like" after to see these conditions.😖
Leave these magnificent animals alone. It's the humans who have caused this by stealing there territory and for greed by killing them for their ivory. If you need to fill anyone it's the thousands of humans who created this problem.
If I make a contribution send them there
Culling the elephants is just a band-aid to a much bigger problem. The real solution is to cull the humans. The elephants would get all that land back that was farmed, there would be less pollution, no hunters or ivory poachers, the list goes on and on of the positive benefits. 800th Like!
Humans master race bro, we matter above all else
Whats natures way of killing elephants? Lions?
Well it is……..sort of. Most lion attack calves and adolescents. An adult would be extremely difficult to bring down even for a pride.
¿Elephants destroy their fragile ecosystem,...No,. humans/we did this😓?
Where are all the billionaires and celebrities when you need them? They’re all talk no action. A few billionaires can do something. Maybe buy land? I dont know. But someone with money needs to figure out a way to help.
Ur misstyping the word.
It's kill not " cull " duh!
First viewer.😀😀😀
@Lucas Pinheiro
First time for me,saw a video uploaded 3 seconds ago, with no views on BBC 😀
So Thanos was right?
I heard elephant meat has a lot of protein. Just like we hunt wolves, we should hunt elephants to restore equilibrium.
They aren’t the problem. This theory has been tested already.
They killed 40.000 elephants and it was wrong, for the elephants, the ecosystem and the humans.
