To answer this question the Lakers shouldn't be interested in any of the bulls tradable assets. Lonzo's contract is to much and we can most likely get a more reliable (health wise) player for a lower number and even if we couldn't the amount of resources we would give up for him would out weigh him significantly in value. Same statement applies to Lavine, and Nikola (take the health part off of Nikola). Colby White has to high a value, and Ayo is on too good a deal currently so Chicago would ask to much for both. And because of the stipulations behind sign and trades it wouldn't make sense to go for any of their bird right or restricted free agents.

No risk at all to see if it works since it's only 1 year. If not the Lakers, other teams are already salivating over a buyout including Denver, Bucks, Spurs, Warriors, etc. If Zo comes back healthy, Zo is like a Derrick White but a better passer. He is a Caruso level defender. In fact, with the Bulls, Zo would have been the first guard in NBA history to have a season with 2 steals and 1 block.
@@BallGuy-pm8pz I agree with this mostly but until the new cap number comes out, as well as the apron numbers it’s realistic to assume the lakers will be over the first apron by the time ZO is bought out (buy outs rarely happen at the beginning of the season when you will have dead cap for no reason) and apron teams can’t take on buy out contracts when the original contract is as large as Zo’s.
@@BallGuy-pm8pz also worth mentioning though I agree with what you are saying about pre injury ZO, we don’t know who ZO will be after not playing professionally for over two years and having a whole new knee and how long that knee would hold up.
@@chinumo For a 26 year old, there is no risk in seeing if it works. This is a first. We may be in a new era of science where a bionic knee part works. Zo seems to be dunking with ease. I'm more concerned with the layoff for 2 years and stamina. I think the knee will be fine. Most don't realize this but Curry had to get his ankle restructured almost the same thing. They added cartilage.

D Russel is better that Lonzo
Lonzo with the Bulls would have been the first guard in history to average 2 steals and a block before his injury. He was on Caruso level. But he has the ability to move the ball and shoot 3's at 42%. And he moves the ball. Not I don't think the Lakers will go after him but I know a lot of teams who will take that chance.
I know Zo hopes the Bulls do a buyout because he can move on as well and pick the team he wants to play with. There will be a lot of teams vying for him in a buyout and I can guarantee that since it's no risk to try him out. The Bulls will be paying most of his salary. Lonzo's best "where he was as a player" high was 63 regular games in a season. His best season for stats -- even when averaging nearly 32 minutes a game as a starter -- was 14.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assist; with .378% from three and .781 from the FT line. His January 2022 injury was over two years ago and he hasn't played since. Instead of seeking a Lonzo reunion, let Max Christie get out and run! In his first two NBA seasons, Max already has a career average of .378% from the three and a .806 FT%.
Lonzo is a two way guard and an upgrade over Reaves. LAKERS can start Lonzo at PG with Reaves SG and trade Dlo Hachi for upgrade at SF

Reaves played ALL 82 games and his season average (as the 4th option and also averaging 32 minutes) was 15.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.5 assist + .853% FT%. Where exactly is this Lonzo "upgrade" when Lonzo's BEST NBA season was the dude missing 25% due to injury? :)

@@bobdaniels8435 Your data for that opinion on Zo is outdated. Lonzo hasn't played, much less defended, in about 2.5 years due to injury. Even in extreme cases, recovery time for that injury is reportedly up to 16 months. But, instead of returning on that timeline to start the 2023-24 season, he's had several surgeries and has sat out. At this point, nobody really knows how effective or durable Lonzo will be when he returns.

With Giddey are Bulls going younger however, in that regard all Lakers have to offer is Lewis, or JHS and draft capital, We barely have enough salary to get to Lavine's contract let alone Vuc or any other Bulls players.
With Giddey the Bulls are guaranteed to tank next year for Cooper. There is a reason the Bulls traded Caruso. He won games from his defense. Not anymore.

Caruso is at his highest in trade value while Giddey is probably at his lowest. It will be a fair trade.

I hope Lonzo can come back as well, but realistically, I think his knee is done. I think it's maybe a 50/50 chance he ever plays another MNBA game. He'll probably have to focus on walking without a cane in the future rather than returning to the MNBA. I certainly hope I'm wrong.

There’s no “limit” on how much you can spend on your own players if you have their bird rights and are willing to pay the luxury tax. But if your team’s payroll exceeds $179M (the 1st apron) or $189M (the 2nd tax apron), you will be heavily limited when it comes to trades, free agency, and being able to alter your team in general. The apron’s just differ on how much they limit you.

So you're telling me that you would have rather had the 9-10th pick in this year's weak draft over Josh Giddey? You're telling me that you would have rather gotten two late firsts over Josh Giddey? Because the only teams trading 2 picks for Caruso at the deadline were really good teams wanting to win now, think pick 22-30. Now I am a little shocked the Bulls weren't able to peel away any of OKC's weaker firsts to add to it, but they are still getting a 21 year old, 6'8" PG with 3 years of NBA experience who went 16.6 points, 8 rebounds, & 6 assists the year before this past season. When you have players like SGA, Jalen Williams, & Lu Dort getting more time and then a rookie Cason Wallace coming up, Giddey just became expendable because he wasn't able to run the offense anymore. SGA is just too good.
All Giddey has to do is improve his 3p shot, and he is well on his way to evolving into a young star for the Bulls. The Bulls already have Coby White, a 24 year old, 6'5" combo gaurd who really broke out last year. These two could be the start of the Bulls desperately needed rebuild. At least they are finally signaling it's time to break it down.

Jevon Carter is a perfect sleeper move, SOLID underrated depth move. Players that arnt flashy that’ll come off the bench and do their job are exactly what we need. If we somehow get him for Gabe, even better.

But as for everyone else, they are far too risky for us to make moves for at this point. Given injuries and Salaries, we simply just don’t have time to waste.

The contract will obviously have to be worth it to just say eff, run it. I just don't want any blame to be thrown on him cuz of his injury if something happens again.
