His version is faster, definitely. Jonghyun held the notes longer and took his time with his breathing (otherwise he would sound breathless). But I don't think they should fault him [Kihyun] for a stylistic choice.

Really?? I've never heard the original version (which I'm sure is EVERYTHING since it's by an angel) so i wouldnt know if Ki did it faster. It just sounds so beautiful, so amazing, the way he performed it. I love that it was kinda fast paced, made my emotions rush & gave the song an edge that I wish more ballads had.
The judges say it feels rushed but I say that it fits the song gives it a desperate and hopeless feel

It's mostly in the beginning where it seems a bit rushed. I think the beginning is originally calmer than the rest of the song, to make the emotional build-up extra effective.

I loved the way it was rushed though. It keeps the feeling of trying to have someone dear to you stay. You speak fast, nervous, on urge of tears. You want them to stay. The way it sounded rush sort of made me felt the emotions behind the song a little more. So even though the judges think it's a negative thing I think it successfully made me (the audience) feel the emotions and the lyrics and the meaning a lot more like a clear painted art piece.

honestly the "rushing" gave the song so much more of a hopeless cry for help, as if something is running away from him and he’s trying to stop it.
He actually said that he's point of power is that he can portait emotions, it worked so well but the judges had to criticize him anyway since he was one of 12 trainee

I’ve been a Shawol for a very long time. It wasn’t rushed at all. They just needed something to say, they couldn’t admit to a trainee that it was nearly perfect.
Kihyun payed an amazing tribute to Jonghyun and many shawols consider this to be one of the best SHINee covers out there. I certainly would like to hear him sing it again now that his vocals are even better...

I hate when in such shows people use the excuse "They`re just trainees, they havent even debuted!" when a contestant doesn`t put emotion. You either can put emotion, either can`t. Kihyun can. In this performance he was still a trainee, yet he was able to use dynamics to express even stronger feeling, just like Jonghyun did. Neither of them was obligated to use this method, they could sing it all with the same dynamic, whether it be loud or quiet. Putting emotion is something you can`t learn. And proper practical use of dinamics is almost impossible, if not impossible, to learn. It`s intuition in it`s biggest part and not everyone has this type of intuition.
Yes you can learn it. Jungkook had problem with putting emotions into songs, but now he know how to do it properly so you can learn it ... but it doesn't change the fact that Kihyun is a great vocalist and I love his version of Hyeya.

+Merwane Djidel its not scripted😂😂 who told you that i know someone who works under mnet america. Almost none of korean shows are scripted except dramas.. PD and writers plan what to do in varitey shows but they never write scripts for it. For survival shows like this, it replys on the members.

I'm literally Hyolyn and Wonho this entire time, I am really surprised that he didn't get first place in this round. He is one of the best vocalists in kpop so we stan our king even though they say it sounds rushed.
But it is just harder to find good rappers and I think that is the reason why Jooheon was always in 1st place spot just because it was and still is to find good rappers but Kihyun did nail this performance and I am saying this as a Monbebe and a Shawol. I don't really mind him not getting 1st, not even just after watching this part, cuz I am 100% sure from the very beginning that he is one of those who will make it to the end regardless of what happened afterwards in the episodes. It had been clear since the beginning he is the best vocalist among the 12. Looking at Starship Family, from K.Will to Hyorin/Soyou to Junggigo and many many more, Starship emphasizes more on the vocal ability of an artist or as a group than the dancing or rapping ability. Starship will not debut anything at all if they did not have an artist that can inherit the vocal line in the Starship Family. I am also sorry to admit that none of the other 11 people in No Mercy, or the 6 in Monsta X have the vocal abilities that are anywhere close to Kihyun now. I, however, do look forward to the improvement of the group, in terms of ability in various areas and also their popularity. I can't wait to see Monsta X being a top group in the following years.

This performance is one of the most emotional performances I've ever witnessed. Kihyun felt and believed every word he sang. Even though I've only recently gotten into Monsta X, I can easily say that he is one of my favourite vocalists.

The fact that this was pre-debut just shows how talented he is. He’s such a natural and I’m so glad I get to exist at the same time as him. This performance gives me chills every time I watch it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The way I can feel him crying out, especially when he sings the “hada” of “chanlanhada”. The way his voice breaks as if he’s really crying. I can FEEL the emotion his brings into this song. He and Jjong both. Amazing vocalist. Just breathtaking. And I do not think the judge should penalize Ki for speeding a bit. It was a stylist choice and he shouldn’t have to sing it EXACTLY how the original artist did.

I'm here two days after their 6th debut anniversary as Monsta X. And this still sounds as good as the first time I listened to it. Kihyun is and will always be one of the best vocalists in kpop.
I don’t know Korean and I don’t understand more than 5 to 6 words. But when I heard him sing tears fell from eyes on their own. His voice had so much emotion and pain which could be easily felt. I’m glad that I found something this meaningful and beautiful.

How can anyone dislike this? This is just beautiful, I get tears in my eyes whenever I listen to this. Even though Monsta X debuted before I watched NO.MERCY (I finished it just recently) so I knew who would be debuting, I could tell Kihyun would make it. He is so talented.
OMG I cried 2 his performance was just the beautifulest thing ever and I wish that they all could've just debuted together & minkhyun left it was just so sad because the way they were all crying and how hard he work to dance better for the sake of his team also how each of there stories are all so meaningful and sad😭😭😭😭😭
