I feel like the chorus "Old does not mean dead
, New does not mean best" is a reference to all metal songs. We still listen to old music and new songs are not always best.
I always felt that metal is one of those genres of music that music is really timeless.

One of my favorite things about metal is that it is a genre where the music just becomes irrelevant. Even the young fans can go back and love older stuff and appreciate it.
In rap/hip hop culture it is all about what is new, and music comes and goes insanely fast. They also don't do much when it comes to showing respect for older artists. I remember listening to an interview of one of the Beastie Boys and when he was asked about ever making music again he was like "nah, I am old news and hip hop is all about what the newest thing is". He was also asked about what he thinks about being respected upon as a pioneer of the genre and he felt it was pointless to look back in a genre that is all about what is new and fresh.
Also, I think the lyrics of the chorus could also be referencing the band themselves as they are older now and been around a while. I know there are tons of older longer lasting metal bands out there but Slipknot was always a lot more "mainstream" so the amount of time they have bee around in a more mainstream position is categorized normally as "past their prime".
The fact that this song is as heavy as their early stuff I feel it is sort of their "comeback" song to show that they can be balls to the wall heavy and aggressive still like when they were younger.
It's really about all music but that was spot on

I remember buying Slipknot’s first album when it hit the shelves because of the cover. Never heard of them. No one really did. When I heard (SIC) I was hooked. They had such aggression that I didn’t expect. Every person that heard them in my car wanted to know who they were. Then Iowa came out ...8, 7, 6,6,6, 5,4,3,2,1,0.....

Slipknot is what got me into metal when i was 13 !! Great reaction and if you could react to a pretty unknown band but they are so damn good. Shadow Of Intent - The Heretic Prevails.
I remember the first time I heard Slipknot. My buddy gave me the Iowa album to borrow, and I skipped straight to the Heritic Anthem because it sounded like the coolest. I was hooked from the very first note. Such an overwhelming feeling. Every emotion I had bottled up just screamed out through those headphones. Been a die hard fan every since. This was a very cool moment to watch someone else also experience the Knot for the first time. My heart was pounding throughout this whole reaction, you can see the excitement written all over that young mans face.
I love the way both of them headbang at the same frequency. lol

I've been listening to Slipknot since 1999. I was 14 when the first album dropped. Even seen them live 5 times.
The intro had me dying LOL great video!!
We introduced our 11 year old daughter to Dio metallica slopknot etc and now she is forever at my metal cds haha so happy
This song makes me want the new album NOW! They've really gone back to their roots and I hope the whole album will be like this.
Check to their song Disasterpiece from their album Iowa, in my opinion it is the heaviest metal album ever!

I heard also heard Slipknot for the first time at 14, Iowa had just been released, and I became obsessed! All though I don't really listen to them now, Slipknot is by far the most important band of my life, and had it not been for them I'm not sure that I would have become the metal head that I have been since. I guess what I'm saying is, discovering Slipknot in your early teenage years can be a life changer. At least it was for me.
Wrestling chairs are legit steel chairs. They don’t do head shots anymore, but when they did, there was a way to take the hit.

Had me at this is “not that kind of video” as a gen x I understand it’s different with no radio replay, where I got most of my exposure. Just like the tales of old, it’s come down to passing down stories from elders to the next generation. Props!

I have never really been in to Slipknot myself, but I know a lot of huge fans of the band are saying this new song is like the second coming because it is much more like their early albums in its heaviness where as their newer albums went a lot softer (almost a bit poppy even).

I love this kind of video when a family can come together to enjoy metal. I incorporate a lot of metal in my kids life, so they can appreciate the finer points. i Do worry my daughter's slipping more into the pop scene, but she still bangs to Slipknot and Hatebreed.

I have listened rock and metal music 30+ years, and I knew Slipknot exist, and I knew couple of songs, but I never liked them of their songs, UNTIL NOW. I fucking love this new album, and I have found some older songs too. I can just wonder why I did not like Slipknot before. I don't get it. This is really great music and absolutely awesome band.
