    Jason Segel needs to write another movie. This movie is pure genious in the disguise of a pretty run-of-the-mill comedy. I love it!

      Damn, I never knew Segal wrote this film!
      Just looked it up and read into it after reading your post.
      It was and is a hilarious movie through and through, with emotional feel to it.

      Sarah was the villain. Peter had tons of faults, but Sarah was the asshole of this film. She was very selfish and very “me” orianted. Peter was a depressed loser, but his morals and characteristics made him a good person. He did actually care where as I think Sarah only cared about how she was treated. She misses the thoughtfulness vs the actual person, type of deal

      @specialwhenlit8435 4 роки тому +15

      @MikeMJPMUNCH Right? That eye roll was right in line with where he was at that moment. He was right, an original song like that, completely out of context from the production itself, compounded by the Dracula voice.....he's absolutely like, "Nobody here is gonna f*@#-*& get this", as evidenced by the locals looking at each other as soon as he starts singing like, "Wtf is this?" He was genuinely depressed, didn't want to perform personal material like that live yet at all, and it took Mila Kunis's character kicking him dead in the ass to get him to do it. He had stuck through a job he hated and a gf who, in retrospect, didn't really support him, mostly because he hated change and taking risks. Mila was the chaotic good he didn't know he needed, can see why he fell in love with her so quickly, she was gonna drag him there kicking and screaming lol. Anyways sorry for the long winded comment, I just love these little details in this movie as well. 😁🍻

    • @davidrosensin7985
      @davidrosensin7985 4 роки тому +2

      @@specialwhenlit8435 I think the thing that most people overlook about this movie is that while you're right in him in a job he hated and a GF who didn't support him...it's the fact that Sarah was exceptionally toxic. There's a scene later on in the movie where he asks her why she cheated on him and she goes into this spiel about all this stuff she tried to do to get him 'over his funk', but not once did she admit that A) she had partial responsibility in him being there (as seen by how she treated him in flashbacks) and B) she never really even brought it up to him as evidenced by the fact she had to tell him what she'd been doing to try to 'help' him. He was 100% depressed because of a myriad of things...and going to Hawaii was a terrible idea that he was able to make the best of. The absolute turning point in this movie (for me) is the difference in his demeanor after being spurned by Rachel vs Sarah. He loved both women, but Rachel pushed him to be his absolute best and to continue to push forward in spite of what the world throws at him (of course the State Fish of Hawaii guy and the pig roast guy helped there) whereas when Sarah threw him away it was just the final nail in the 'she was never really there for me' coffin.
      Sorry for the rambling.

    I actually worked on this movie for the last have as an audio assistant and on the last die where Jason kinda cracks up. He says he was about to bust out laughing just like all the other takes which was about 10 haha they just kept it cause he said that was as good as it was gonna get without everyone including the crew busting out laughing...fun times

    Its getting kind of hard to believe
    Things are going to get better
    I've been drowning too long
    To believe that the tides going to turn
    And I've been living too hard to believe
    Things are going to get easier now
    I'm still trying to shake off the pain
    From the lessons I've learned
    Having you here now I see
    Things are going to be brighter
    Oh and feeling you here now I know
    I might make it through
    Oh
    Loving you this long
    Has made me believe its forever
    And with you these dreams I've forgotten
    Might somehow come true

    I have to think that this is the point in the movie where she realizes so much of the character in his song was him and where her feelings turn for him.
    Great performance...and I agree, she definitely seems like a lot of fun. Her line 'you don't need to dote on me' was awesome.
