Thanks so much for your video. My belt just broke this morning off my ML550 and I was dreading the cost of labor. You second part of the video was exactly what I was looking for. Nice step by step.

Great video, but I would like to add that when you become in a situation where you are struggling to get the belt on, simply work it all on all the way to the tensioner pulley like you did, with a steady hand, hold the belt and with the other hand release more tension from the tensioner. You lost some of your slack when you initially let off the tensioner so catch the rivet, and it’s easier sometimes to just put the wrench back on as pushing on the belt. It has worked for me and I hope that helps someone. Nice video! Thanks!

Thanks alot Rich.....I used this particular video to do an alternator and brand new belt on a c280 today....I have been repairing cars to make ends meet in these tough times and It was my first Benz. I didnt use the rivet for the belt but it still went great. Took me about 2 hours to do start to finish and I made enough money in 2 hours to pay my gas electric bill for the month and still have a few dollars left over.....Please continue to post as you are creating opportunities for people too.

Thank you so much for the tip on using the Rivet as to keep it in locked position. I was searching all over the house for a long Allen wrench I used once before but anyhow very good description on how to change the belt. Just did it now for an R350. The tricky part for me was figuring out the correct placement of the belt on the tensioner pulley since theres no grooves on either side of the pulley to know exactly where the center position is.
