Yeah, I have. Check my videos, the CL used to be my main bridge pickup. I can't say that I prefer a pickup over the other one. Each pickup works well for a concrete situation. For instace, I like Illuminators in a basswood body for soloing and clean tones, but I prefer CL for heavy rhythm guitars
Thanks Akira! Yeah, I included a boost in my Axe FX patch :) These pickups sound great, They are very unusual. Dark sound but with clarity, they have punch but they are very open. I really like them for soloing
Sounds amazing! Im waiting for delivery of my Ibanez S5527 I just bought today and these pickups are my first choice right now to replace the stockers. Thanks for doing an in depth play review. Very detailed!
Hola Erick!
THANKYOU! someone makes a heavy song that can actually envoke a fucking emotion without words. Guitar and heavy music has been getting stale lately. You first few chords had me thinking this was going to be just another one of them videos. Then you busted out what I can only imagine would be the chorus and I actually felt something. Kudos to you man. Im usually not the kind of guy to go handing anyone a compliment. But that song kicked some fucking ass man.
Thanks bro! The Illuminators are more open, less compressed. I find them a little bit darker too, but they still have clarity. Illuminators have less punch than the CL, but I like the tone for soloing and clean tones
Oh boy this is perfect I own the same guitar and that's exactly the one I'm looking for new pickups. So I play a lot of clean and love glossy guitar in my music but also some distortion and progressive metal which would you recommend for me to get these pickups or the ionizer 7s?
damn this is awesome man. i love it. just a small request. could you make some tabs for this and put it on here or something please? whats the tuning your set on with this.
Hey man, if I'm not mistaken I think you have an Ionizer 7 demo too. How do these compare with the Ionizers and which do you prefer/recommend? I play the EBMM JPXI-7 which already has CL/LF set, and I think the Illuminators are supposed to be very similar, but I might consider the Ionizers. If not, some BKP's.
Hey bro. Depend on your preferences. The Ionizers are more focused on the upper mids and the Illuminator in the lower mids. The Illuminators are more open and the Ionizers have more attack. The Ionizer Bridge sounds like a mix between the CL and the Evo7 to me.
Art, your clip sounds amazing, but your other clips where you use the Liquifire and CrunchLab do, too. I have the LF/CL combo in two of my guitars and I like them a lot. Never played the Illuminators, though. So, let me ask you: what do you personally prefer, the Illuminators or the LF/CL combo?
What do you think of these compared to the Crunch lab's? Been looking for a new set of pups for my Ibanez and its between the Illuminator/illuminator and Crunch lab/liquifire right now.
heyy man, great song..just love ur music ..just one quick question.. i just bought an IBANEZ RG3727FZ..was planning to replace PAF 7 with these..its got a mahogany body.. think its a good idea?? thanks :)
Yoh art, when you change your pickup, does your guitar has knob pickup tone selector in dimarzio illuminators? Cuz i only have 2 knobs in my ibanez 6 but it doesn't selected to strat tone
awesome playing! how are these Illuminators compared to the Crunch Lab / Liquifire? The specs on Dimarzio's site shows that the Crunch Lab and the Liquifire has the sameoutput. If the Illuminators are less muddy, i'd prefer that over the crunch lab.
Thanks bro! The Illuminators are more open, less compressed. I find them a little bit darker too, but they still have clarity. Illuminators have less punch than the CL, but I like the tone for soloing and clean tones
Very nice! It´s the first video i´ve seen with the Illuminators. I´ve ordered them 3 weeks ago. Now I´m very excited!! It seems they work really well without a pre-amp in a guitar. Or do you build one in? Btw great track and nice playing!
Ninguna dificultad.
Art, I have a question: where did you buy your Illuminators? did you get them from the US? I'm asking since I can't find any European dealer that sells them.
I have one question if you do not mind please. What 7 string Di Marzio set you find the most versatile for various music genres, and metal as main one for guitar in A tuning? Kind regards.
@@ArtRodriguez Thanks for answering. Will Blaze perform enough tight for A tuning, or Illuminator would be better option for that? Which one you would put there if you have to choose?
Hey man, its kinda ironic because i want to buy the same guitar and put the same pickups in it. Now i have a question about the guitar that is really important to me... Since this is a bariton guitar ( 26,5 scale lenght) would this bring me any difficulties if i play it in standard tuning? I actually want to stay in standard tuning and i am afraid that might get problems with bending strings ( especialy on the high E ) and maybe even "string breaks", because of the high tension in that tuning :( I would be relly thankfull if you could answer this to me. Btw. great playing and great demo! Couldn't imagine a better one! Greeting from Germany
Hey dude. Obviously you will get more tension with the same string gauge and you will notice that. But after some weeks it becomes comfortable. I use standard tuning in some of my Schecters (26,5" too) and no string has been broken yet :)
awesome man, it's rare I click on a pickup, guitar, amp test and watch the whole thing... especially if it involves 7/8 strings and an axe fx if ya know what I mean... nice mix of melodic and heavy shit \m/
Hola maestro!
Great demo. The pickups sound great and the talented playong just makes the demo that much better.
@@ZANcomix thanks, man!
Man, that is some fantastic playing. I enjoyed the hell out of that. You made the pickups sound really good. Great job.
Love that solo. Very tasteful. Pickups sound great too.
I really have fallen in love with your lead sound. This neck pickup literally sings!
Great job
been watching your videos for many years. love the playing
Beautiful and inspirational as always, Art. Well done. Great sounding pickups. Just ordered a set for my 7. Thx for sharing!
Thanks Akira! Yeah, I included a boost in my Axe FX patch :)
These pickups sound great, They are very unusual. Dark sound but with clarity, they have punch but they are very open. I really like them for soloing
Great video man. Love your style. Heavy rhythms yet still melodic.
Sounds amazing! Im waiting for delivery of my Ibanez S5527 I just bought today and these pickups are my first choice right now to replace the stockers. Thanks for doing an in depth play review. Very detailed!
Excellent video and song!! Love these pickups way more than the crunch Labs.
Thanks so much for making this video! I am able to compare the CL and LF 7 string set vs these Illuminators using your videos.
fantastic demo and song!
Amazing playing and sound. Would it be to much to ask for clean demo? Thanks!
Awesome instrumental. I forgot I was watching a demo!
Great job man! Very ala dream theater which given the pretenses that was the aim which you nailed.
nice playing and cool demo!
Thanks! It's a new track of Delyriüm. Still under construction ;)
Cool. A dream theater sounding track with his new pickups. I was a dimarzio fan but discovered Lace and that was it for me
wow, sounds awesome! great sing and great playing! eres un maestro!!!!
Gracias Lars!
Art Rodriguez
oh, sorry, just noticed a typo, I mean to say great song (not sing) ....
OMG lovely chorus
Hola Erick! Excellent demo, man!
I use a Rectifier simulation (Red Channel) but without much gain. I'll upload the patch to Axe-Change soon
what a great song and the lead is awesome dude!
Thanks dude!
Thank you so much for your words, bro!
Great sound!
I like the dynamic of pickup -0:16
This is already a beast guitar,,, father of guitar
That was awesome as usual man.
loved the song! where can i buy/download it?
THANKYOU! someone makes a heavy song that can actually envoke a fucking emotion without words. Guitar and heavy music has been getting stale lately. That solo kicks asses!! The 2:49-2:52 lick is amazing.
Great playing and great guitar sound, Art!
great song
I actually looking for a pickup review here but I found a kickass song
Thank you bro. Glad to read that :)
2:40 my favorite part
dimarzio = instant petrucci tone
Oh boy this is perfect I own the same guitar and that's exactly the one I'm looking for new pickups. So I play a lot of clean and love glossy guitar in my music but also some distortion and progressive metal which would you recommend for me to get these pickups or the ionizer 7s?
Those illuminators sound SICK.
I assume you are using an OD/bosot for your rhythm tone though right?
What do you think of the pickups overall?
damn this is awesome man. i love it. just a small request. could you make some tabs for this and put it on here or something please? whats the tuning your set on with this.
got my answer.... Man thank u so much.... I m confused btw bare knuckles juggernaut and dmarzio titans..... But now i got my answer.....
Dale mucha gracias, me has despejado las dudas que tenia gracias Crack!
Cool!
Have you played the Crunch Lab? Do you prefer Illuminator over it?
Dude, great playing and a great demo. You get aggro metal face like Tremonti. ;)
Shannon Hooge Hahaha thanks, dude!
Killer Art! What's the track called? Loved it and the tone!
Well done!!!
Hey man, if I'm not mistaken I think you have an Ionizer 7 demo too. How do these compare with the Ionizers and which do you prefer/recommend? I understand the fretboard radius on that is 430mm/16.9". Are you able to get some pretty low action w/o buzz?
James Bailes Depend on the string gauge. I use .011 - .049 and .068 for the 7. This makes more difficult to get a very low action.
have any idea how this bridge pickup would sound in ibanez rgir27e 7string? kinda dont like factory fitted emg 707 in it
Yeah, work well without pre-amp :) Thanks!
Art, great song! Does a full-length version exist?
Thank you dude! It will be included in the next album of my band Delyriüm :)
Art, your clip sounds amazing, but your other clips where you use the Liquifire and CrunchLab do, too. I have the LF/CL combo in two of my guitars and I like them a lot. Never played the Illuminators, though. So, let me ask you: what do you personally prefer, the Illuminators or the LF/CL combo?
tight!!! question, stock pots?
Nice demo & good song ;-)
Awesome Riff! XD
What do you think of these compared to the Crunch lab's? Been looking for a new set of pups for my Ibanez and its between the Illuminator/illuminator and Crunch lab/liquifire right now.
dmanj88 Illuminator are less agressive but more organic and have more clarity. The "voicing" is pretty similar. All depends on you want.
heyy man, great song..just love ur music ..just one quick question.. i just bought an IBANEZ RG3727FZ..was planning to replace PAF 7 with these..its got a mahogany body.. think its a good idea?? thanks :)
Do you have any information when could i get petrucci's tone by axe fx?
Yoh art, when you change your pickup, does your guitar has knob pickup tone selector in dimarzio illuminators? Cuz i only have 2 knobs in my ibanez 6 but it doesn't selected to strat tone
I just stumbled onto this great job.....what tuning are you using?
Hey Art! What is the sound of your patch? Like what are the settings and how heavy is the gain?
awesome playing! how are these Illuminators compared to the Crunch Lab / Liquifire? The specs on Dimarzio's site shows that the Crunch Lab and the Liquifire has the sameoutput. If the Illuminators are less muddy, i'd prefer that over the crunch lab.

How are the pickups :D
Art, I have a question: where did you buy your Illuminators? did you get them from the US? I'm asking since I can't find any European dealer that sells them.
Hey Lars. I'm endorsed by DiMarzo so they sent them directly to me.
Art Rodriguez
Oh, that is awesome! Have you ever tried a ToneZone7 ? I'm asking since I installed an AirNorton7 and ToneZone7 in my JP70 today.
increible tema!!!!
Gracias!
Awesome playing man! \m/
Thanks dude!
Did these drop right in or did you need to file them down at all to fit?
Ian Hopkins They fit correctly. I put some foam under them in order to adjust the distance to the strings.
I have one question if you do not mind please. What 7 string Di Marzio set you find the most versatile for various music genres, and metal as main one for guitar in A tuning? Kind regards.
I think that the DiMarzio Blaze is the most versatile one. The Illuminator is pretty versatile too, but has more output.
@@ArtRodriguez Thanks for answering. Will Blaze perform enough tight for A tuning, or Illuminator would be better option for that? Which one you would put there if you have to choose?
Awesome!
Great tone dude. :D
also i would buy this song if it exists
It will be included in our next album :) Thanks for the interest!
is this song out yet? n will there be some sort of backing track ? :O
Not yet. Soon :)
ooooooooooooooo soooo excited :o
Thanks man!

Art Rodriguez Thank you very much for the quick response! Hope i still find some ways to get the feel as smooth as on a normal scale guitar :)
does this song have a title or is it just something written to demo the pickups? It seems too awesome just to leave at that.
Thanks! This song is still in progress. It will be part of our second CD.
Art Rodriguez I'll definitely be checking that out
SCOTT TURN IT DOWN AND WASH THE DISHES!!! AHHHH!!! DONT FORGET TO FEED FLUFFY AND JACK!!!!
how much was the ibanez?
I can't remember but you can take a look at Thomman or other online store. The model is RGD2127z
Is it just me or does it seem like these pickups would not react well to natural reverb on stage?
nice music btw
Muchas gracia David!
what scale is that song/solo in?
B minor scale
Art Rodriguez thanx dude, rock on!
awesome man, it's rare I click on a pickup, guitar, amp test and watch the whole thing... especially if it involves 7/8 strings and an axe fx if ya know what I mean... nice mix of melodic and heavy shit \m/
