Thanks for the tip! My problem was #3. I always had to go up several needle sizes to obtain gauge; but doing so gave me a loose fabric that was not pretty or useful especially for socks. It was suggested to change from bamboo to metal; which helped but only about a half of a stitch. Will try your tip on my next gauge swatch.
#3 is the biggie because knitting on the needle tips is a fairly common problem. And good for you for knitting gauge swatches! This is such an important part of getting good results and so many knitters skip it.
My first row of stitches are good but half way through my second knitting stitches get so tight. I don't pull or tug on anything. What am I doing wrong?

I knit a sleeve during a conference that i found annoying and the sleeve was 2 inches slimmer than its mate. Nothing to do, but knit it over!
