    The relief you get from meds is so worth it

      @@murielmoloney1043 it seriously is. I’ll put up with the side effects if it means I can live without constant fear.

      Absolutely wasn’t worth it for me the effects on the mind and body are unparalleled to almost any other type of medications

    I use to hide my meds under my tongue, then spit them out. I accidentally swollowed a couple then realised I might have an issue. Im trying to taper off but will do it under care this time. You explained psychosis so well, will recommend your channel to anybody who wants to understand.

    Thank you for sharing your history. It is a personal choice regarding meds. I know I can never stop them or my self harm could become life threatening. Ultimately we have to do what's best for ourselves at the time I feel.

    I wish my loved one could see this video! Right now we’re in the “You’re the one who’s crazy” dynamic with him having no insight that he had a psychotic episode.

    One of the reasons I have gone off of my meds is because I think I’ll go back to how I was “before” (when I was functioning “well”, had a job) if I come off of my meds… that hasn’t happened and fairly quickly realise this isn’t the reality!

    Hi Carolynn! I’m so grateful to you for the video, for telling your long and complicated history with medications and, in particular, for the insight about the “I’ve graduated” mentality. You are a life-timer because you KNOW from experience what happens to you off meds. And some people, like myself, need to get their own experience to find the right answer to the “meds or no meds” question. I hear you about plenty of supervision, will keep in touch about my findings. 😊

    Thanks for pointing out that ultimately it is our choice what decision we make about medication. Everone's journey will look different.

      Aw man I’m sorry to hear that! Is there anything else you can try? I’m sorry if that’s an annoying question, I know how much I hate getting asked that. I think I tried 5 different antipsychotics before I found the right one. I wish they would at least get rid of your symptoms, I hope something will work for you.

      @psychotic.in.seattle well I'm on a bunch of stuff, my psychiatrist has me on invega , seroquel, Depakote and Lexapro. But the seroquel makes you gain so much weight and makes you so tired when you take it, it's ridiculous lol. I actually have an appointment to see my Dr today so hopefully I can get something changed ya know.

    • @Psychotic.in.Seattle
      @Psychotic.in.Seattle  7 місяців тому +1

      Oof!! I hated seroquel. Everyone else in my family is fine on it but that one gave me the worst side effects of any of the ones I tried, so I definitely feel you. Good luck with your doctor! I hope it goes well.@@DevMfWalker

      @@Psychotic.in.Seattle yeah the side effects just aren't worth it, I'm going to try to see if I can switch to vraylar maybe. I heard you don't gain weight or get super sleepy on it.

    People keep claiming the keto diet can make you not to have to take medicine but I don’t agree with that if that were true then everyone with a mental health disorder could just stop taking their medication and they could all be better I wish I could just stop taking medication because I don’t like side effects but I know that won’t work for me before I started taking medication and first saw my psychiatrist for the first time I was hearing voices and seeing things and was in a very bad place I’ve never gone off my medicine since seeing my doctor I’m surprised I didn’t though because I had some medicines that had really bad side effects

    Yes, I agree, going off meds without doctor's approval can change your personality. I don't miss often but I think it stays in your system a couple of weeks. That is, what I'm taking. You might be able to stop your medication when you get old. I need so much less than I once did. I feel I just take them for sleep these days and I only take two psychiatric drugs now on low doses. I use a divider for morning meds but leave it to memory for nighttime meds. My psychiatrist on the adolescent ward got me to go to twelve steps meeting and no one there ever told me to not take my medication. If they did that would psychiatrists make the suggestion?

    • @Psychotic.in.Seattle

      12 step program you’ll need to keep taking your medication for that program. I am not insulting but I was in alanon 17 years learned a lot but wrong people got control off it a few AA people in denial it became my biggest nightmare getting gang stalked by about three hundred off their family who are not even members crazy programs wish I could turn the clock back 17 years 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @Psychotic.in.Seattle
      @Psychotic.in.Seattle  8 місяців тому +1

      No, I have not! But when I’ve had similar side effects I was able to stop them by switching to a different med. It took a few tries to finally find the right combination.
