Nightmare! The two lids, black and clear plastic must work together which I still have not figured out, despite asking friends and neighbors and everyone else to take a try. Totally confusing and no kitchen appliance should be so frustratingly constructed.
I was going CRAZY because mine wouldn’t turn on and I kept messing up the assembly but thanks to this video I figured it out 👍🏾

My lid got separated into two pieces - how do you reattach the black top to the clear top?
MINE IS THE SAME WAY TOO. QUITE COMPLICATED FOR SUCH A SMALL APPLIANCE

The Magic Bullet is A+ for making butters. I've had it for years and you don't have to thumb press it for it to work😂
