The difference between the Warriors and Cavaliers is that the Cavs basically lucked into 1 great player. They were garbage before he got there and they were garbage after he left. The Warriors built their team through smart drafting and built a great organization and a winning culture of unselfish basketball that Kevin Durant was attracted to. Hate them all you want but the Warriors have a great front office modeled after the Spurs

This is exactly what i've been saying forever now. Great management, ownership and coaching. Top to bottom the Warriors through their process have been the absolute best franchise of the 2010+ era. They literally stole Curry, found diamonds in Klay and Draymond, and got rid of Barnes for KD. That's next level shit right there. I already knew they were going to be good when they first drafted Curry, but after seeing them draft Klay, I knew they were set as a contending team. But to get KD, that's just great management and player involvement.
The difference between the Cavs and Warriors is that the Cavs only selling point is Lebron. That's it, Cleveland isn't an attractive destination like miami, or any team in california, or even ny teams. They literally only have Lebron as a selling point. Every player knows the Cavs have had bad management for ages, they couldn't sell their souls to get Lebron a star to play next to during his first stint in Cleveland even though they were a winning team. It's like the Raptors and Timberwolves, those places aren't attractive destinations. Toronto is a nice place to live at, but at the same time, the weather, and the airport problem is a killer to free agents. The Cavs will be mediocre for a decade(s) after Lebron leaves. The Warriors selling point is their winning culture, and that their management will do anything to win. Just like the Spurs management, though they attract less free agents, they're a home grown talent franchise who gets talented unknown players and allows them to become better. With a selling point of Greg Popovich, their winning culture, the best management in the league, and Kawhi Leonard.

I think, at most, this Cavs team, currently constructed, could possibly make the first round but would more than likely get swept because the East is so weak. This Cavs team still have a good few pieces and some players for the future. And remind me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Dan Gilbert have a 5 time all star in Kevin Love who, before playing with Lebron, was a 20 & 10 guy by himself on a Timberwolves team? Yeah, that is true. But championship is long gone for now. Maybe in 5 to 10 years.
Kevin Love is also getting a little old though and has been injured a few times. He can definitely still play, but he's a far cry from what he was on the Timberwolves. I think the year before LeBron left the first time, they won either 61 or 66 games. The year after he left they like 19 games. If he leaves again and they don't get anyone for him, I think it'll be the same result. Might win 25 games next year, 30 at best, even in the weak East.

Allen Mkandawire True, but the Cavs didn't make the playoffs at all when LeBron left and had 3 #1 draft picks. At least OKC still made the playoffs. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they didn't make the playoffs at all without LeBron, which would prove my point. Also, after KD left, they didn't win 40 less games the next year like Cleveland did when LeBron left the first time.

Post All Star Weekend 2022 and Cavs are certainly in a great position for the future with the young core we have right now. Dan Gilbert isn't seen much in the arena (he had a stroke a few years ago and hasn't been the same since) but Koby Altman deserves so much praise as well.
