    Gobbi takes advantage of the fantastic drama that Puccini paints with his music. One of the great moments of the theatre is Il Tabarro and Nulla! Silenzio! Opera at its most poignant.

    No one who has not experienced great agony of mind can fully identify how emotionally true this acting is. Tito is convincing in all his roles, but this unstripped vehemence has a modernity and immediacy which is quite hard to watch.

    Not the biggest of voices but thats a small matter,its what he does with it thats more important,in his prime he was excellent,his acting was always first rate,like callas he was oone of the greatest singing actors we will ever see

      Also check out the countertenor Christopher Robson. His acting is quite extraordinary, especially in Handel.

    I prefer his live version with Marie Collier, but in this version he's definitely chewing up the scenery... even his hair is more theatrical!
