I agree with Jules, Dutch has never failed to dribble before. A point increase on his part is mandatory!
I generally agree on the assessment of this one, which is unusual for me when you evaluate bourbons.
The first Jacob’s Well release was even better, but this year’s was really good and I think better than all of the 17 year “different campus” releases.
So glad you guys liked this as much as I did - I'm usually aligned with Angelic Dylan. I've scooped up a few bottles at about $165 - I think it's one of the best Beam products I've had, and I've had many.
just snagged one of these for 149 bucks in NY, they had 3 but I wasn't greedy. convinced another guy to grab one. Jim beam is quickly becoming my favorite profile after I found knob 12 for 48 bucks everyday.
$50 for Knobb 12….what the heck!!!
@@DirtyHairy01 yup I have quite a few bottles now
I love your content! I always look forward to it
Great video!
I appreciate Beam’s special releases due to the lack of hype. All of the Hardin’s Creek line is readily available online for close to MSRP, if you’re willing to search a bit
Would be cool to test this against the other Hardin's Creek releases of 2023 (Clermont, Frankfurt, Boston) along with Knob 18
I like Jim Beans special releases. They’re all pretty solid.
I feel like the taste off for this should be obvious: Knob Creek 18. I remain skeptical of Hardin's Creek because I usually prefer fruity and spicy bourbons. If it's anything like Knob Creek 18, which I thought was missing both of those components, then it's not worth the money to me. I already felt Knob Creek 18 was exceptionally boring. It has good oak and brown sugar notes, but that's about it. It compares to Eagle Rare and Woodford Double Oaked, which are both a fraction of the price at msrp. I'm also not the biggest Beam fan, although, I do find myself preferring the 9 year Knob Creek barrel picks over any of their older offerings.
If you a) don’t like aged notes, and b) require spice, you are better off avoiding KC18.
It has a lot of leather and tobacco which demonstrate well integrated oak. I think it’s great, but I can see how people might not like it.
Knob Creek 18 YO. Is the oldest Beam product i have tried.
Really interesting debate back and forth. I’ve heard the 15 year version is better. I passed on this at $190. That said, Beam’s premium pricing is better than Campari and some others. I did get a Baker’s 13 last year for $135. and I’m very happy with it. I usually prefer bourbon around 12-13 years old. I disagree on the uniqueness score. They released a ton of ultra aged bourbon last year. That includes the HC trilogy. Those were all 17 years old. Thanks and cheers!
How about trying some Royal Salute whisky? Looks spectacular, I wonder if you guys can do a review of RS 25/26/28 or maybe 30yo?
I agree with Dutch on ascetics. Bottles don't need cock rings.
Where’s the additive free tequila!!!!
I have the first batch, i think its the best bourbon ive ever owned
I really wish you guys tried the Lineage against this. I'll be in Kentucky at the end of the month and I'm not sure if I should buy one. I don't see many reviews for it and that's a lot of money for a potential miss.
Booker’s always has an age statement and it tends to be around 7 years old. Sometimes less.
65👍
Call me crazy, but I’m a little Disappointed when Dillion likes something.
