NO treats, clickers, intimidation or harsh corrections used!
Jimi takes us for a walk and gives us tips on how to properly walk with our dogs!
talking or praising the dog in a high voice gets them exited, but i never thought of that. thanks much!!!! for bringing that to the attention.
I have a rescue pitbull. Walks are a struggle!
Me too! How has your progress been and do you have any tips?
8 tricks by hand signals only in 1 week and my 110 lb half mastiff half german shepard pulls me up hills on command and knows what left and right is. 5th owner at 11 months old and I was told he destroyed 2 metal cages and someone's room. Dog leash around waist to keep them from pulling
🤔
Her tail has been tucked the whole time... of course she will follow the leash.. she would bolt if you dropped it.. Leash corrections on a fearful dog will only create more fear.. good thing you are saying no harsh corrections but yet you are still punishing her..
I have two dogs and we live in the center of the city. Our street has four line traffic and our walk to the nearist park goes through the streets full of people. Now i use short leash for two dogs, because of other pedestrians and i try to correct them calmly, but there is too many things going on in our surroundings. I can't choose that. What would you suggest? One of my dogs react on street cats ( lot of them live in the neighborhood) and other dogs ( we meet at least ten dogs on on our way to the park) when on leash.
Very good and informative. My brothers dog walks infront, I didn't know that was incorrect.
Matt J As long as there is no tension on the leash, dogs can walk in front. It's unrealistic to have a dog walk in heel always.
Hi. Isn't the sidewalk's floor too hot for the dog to walk over?
Can there be a certain period of the walk where you let the dog sniff and walk more freely - like when she may need to go potty?
Sure Kari, you can use a release word like "OK" to allow your dog to freely roam.
am I not to allow her to be excited and smell everywhere?
Andrew Smith Smelling the environment calms dogs down.
