I know!! I live in Europe and when I go abroad I always try to learn at least how to say hello, goodbye and thank you in the language of the place I'm visiting. Just out of respect for the culture and the people I'm going to meet there. You'd think if they're going to Brazil, maybe they'll realize how hard it can be for someone to go to a country where they don't speak the language or know anyone really.. but I doubt they'll think of anything but themselves..
A few observations here, might or not be accurate but this is the way I filled in the gaps. So I think Bert got a 90 day visa and the original plan might have been to legally marry her and get her pregnant so she could apply for a permanent status, that's why they said there was little time left, once that door is closed, shed have to start the whole visa process again. In my country there's an 18-month wait list rn for visa appointments, so it could probably take them another couple of years. Another thing is that according to the video, she's supposed to give paperwork to her immigration lawyer and she's not complying, so of course if the paperwork is not complete, her status might get revoked. What I think is obvious, is that Bert realized the dysfunction she was about to get into (maybe after watching the show herself) or imagined that Garrett was going to actually leave Danielle to settle with her only and that didn't happen, so she changed her mind about it. I understand that they might have put a lot of money into the process and maybe he's expecting the tax deduction from being married again and having more children to pay for the massive house they just built, but it's becoming more than obvious that his only concern is to keep the relationship with Bert and the new kids he could have, rather than his current family or even Bert's own kids.
I read in an article that Roberta unfollow them both on instagram and follows an account about escaping polyamorous relationships, so I think she just doesnt feel it anymore and wants to get away. Totally get that with how weird and creepy they are.

I mean America has over 50 million foreign born residents, far ahead of the second ranked country (Germany at around 16 million). Tons of illegal immigrants cross the border each year to live in the country. While there are certainly a lot of people who don’t have a desire to live in the US, the American perception that a lot of people do desire to move to their country is not really unfounded.

Admittedly, America is a flawed country, but I’m fully convinced it’s the best the world has to offer, and a bunch of metrics would back me up on that. And I say this as someone who grew up in Canada and decided to live to the US the second I graduated from high school. The opportunities, innovation, and mindset of America is far preferable to that of a place like Canada. And while some Americans may not want to live in America, I think it’s incredibly disingenuous to claim that a large portion of American don’t want to live in America.

there are people who would manipulate to get a green card surely, but to act like everyone from another country would lie, cheat, and steal to get a green card is not realistic.
Not everyone would want to leave their entire life behind to come to America, for a lot of people it is a sacrifice they are willing to make because they truly love someone.

I would say that, depending on what matters to you, the US might not be the best match for you. there are probably places that could be a much better match depending on your priorities.
Also, a lot depends on what you are used to. A lot of people take things for granted in their own countries that people from other places would find to be a deal breaker.
a lot of Americans seem to think that people only(or always) want green cards because 1) they are looking at it from a perspective of someone who has never really been somewhere else 2) they have always been told in media that the US is the best country from when they were small and/or 3) they have always heard stories of immigration fraud like it is the only reason someone could fall in love with an American.
there are people who marry just to get a green card, sure, but they are not everyone. Just like people marry for money or fame or because you are a prince of the House of Windsor (🙄), so you need to be careful of whom you marry or it could ruin your life, but that doesn't mean everyone is a grifter!
for reference: I am an American, but I have traveled extensively through both Turkey and China, so I know enough to know that there are pros and cons of every place (by extension) and no country is objectively the best because different people have different priorities, desires and background.
I think Bert values her family and they are not in America, so she is hesitant to just leave them to live with a crazy "cultlike" couple. Not sure that the actual country's merits has much to do with it!

if your idea is not to come to the US and make money, then the situation that you are marrying into would matter more that the country that you will live in.
she didn't seem like she "dreamed of coming to America" in any way to me. maybe she liked the attention at first, but when it came to leaving her family and living with them, she seemed like she was dragging her heels.
she was certainly smarter than the couple gave her credit for if she walked away, because it was not a great deal they were offering her.

Considering the friends have never met or spoken to Bert, I can see why they might be concerned about being used for a green card. It does happen, quite often. And wanting to be in a plural marriage is quite unusual so I"d have my concerns as well. What the friends don't realize is that it's her friends that are the weirdo's not Bert LOL
