I loved the episode from the 2012 cartoon where Splinter taught Leo how to truly fight like a ninja. Aka teaching Leo that his strict adherence to Bushido in it's entirety right down to always fighting honorably while a noble and a good thing to do would screw him over if he wasn't careful which during the fight he got into it did and almost cost him his life, especially this quote Splinter made when he won the sparring match using what Leo considered dishonorable, and cowardly tactics aka attacking Leo before he was even ready, and the quote came when Leo was complaining about Splinter using dishonorable, and cowardly tactics basically the quote is "Yes I did use what you would call dishonorable, and cowardly tactics. But I still won correct?" And when Leo admitted yes Splinter still won the sparring match he also asked for Splinter to explain how he could justify fighting against bad guys using the tactics the bad guys always use, Splinter explained to Leo that as ninja yes they should fight honorably if it is possible but if fighting honorably puts them in danger of losing and dying during actual combat on the field of battle then they should stop fighting honorably and use the same tactics that would be deemed "dishonorable and cowardly" against their foes, as their foes 9 times out of 10 are more then willing to use "dishonorable, cowardly" tactics to win a actual fight.
He didn't take back he stated "I'm compassionate not insane." He understood that while Mikey was in the process of befriending Leatherhead, Leatherhead would have to be chained up for his safety, and Mikey's safety.
The greatest Master Splinter quote was not on here. “Death comes for us all, Oroku Saki. But something much worse awaits you. For when you die it will be...without honor.”
Lots of cryptic wisdom, gallons of hot tea, Master Splinter learning how to play pai sho and then promptly schooling Uncle Iroh at it, a couple of powerful and wise old men laughing... Not even the turtles or Zuko would be able to figure them out...
To elaborate on Splinter choosing Leonardo as the leader simply because he asked; an essential quality of any leader in any scenario is someone who can make decisions when they are needed. Leonardo proved that even though he wasn’t a skilled leader yet, he was ready to become one because he was the first to make the decision to ask. Splinter is a wise master. He never would have bestowed leadership upon any of them. All of the turtles were raised together, they train together and were taught by him, so Splinter knows deep down that they all posses the ability to lead and the ability to follow orders. it was merely a matter of who would step up and become the leader first.
He also had an obligatory trust in Leo because he is the eldest sibling. Many older generations put the burden of responsibility on the eldest simply because they were the eldest and they were expected to uphold such an expectation.
18:54 "Then perhaps one cannot *make* someone like something." "Of course not, no one wants to be--oh...you're talking about me and April." "My son, for someone so intelligent, the obvious often eludes you." ......this hits incredibly hard.

Master Splinter has always had a special place in my heart. He was done wrong by a freak string of events, turned into a rat, and instead of wallowing in the filth he saves four turtles (and let’s be real, if you found four turtles would you consider that the animal you’d want to spend your life raising and training?) he teaches them all he knows, good morals, fighting skills and they flourish despite him having no physical attachment to them. He’s a perfect father figure. I always wanted to be a teenage mutant ninja turtle when I was younger just so I could serve master splinter and make him proud.

@@JCBro-yg8vd let's be honest here the 1.0 Nickelodeon version is fare superior to even 3 for A:spicing up the fortune cookie talk with father language. B:making him more Pro/Active in he's sons lives. C:making the Best backstory for him!(for starters the notion of splinter learning martial arts while an ordinary rat/by observation and mimicking is equally as stupid as him passing this knowledge After mutation. Secondly the fact that splinter essentially appropriating japanese culture and without he's masters permission continues he's teaching after he's passing feels dirty and underhanded! By essentially turning splinter's owner and him into the same person it not only made the plot more believable but makes splinter as a character more legit especially as a ninja master and good person.)
@ Splinter was originally a rat in the original comics, but really I think it's pretty pointless to question the believability of a rat mimicking ninjutsu and then mutating into a sentient being by a vile of ooze and becoming a ninja master, while four turtles becoming sentient by being exposed by the same chemical is equally unbelievable, but it's a cartoon. But one of the main differences between the 2 origins is that in the original origin Hamato Yoshi is dead, and splinter teaches the turtles what his "Master" "taught" him while preserving the honor of Yoshi, Splinter and Yoshi are originally too different characters and honestly they're both interesting now I'm not against the 1987 version where the merged them together, I find it pretty enjoying and in a way it can make it more interesting but I don't think the original origin is any less enjoyable
I don’t know why but I felt more connected with Splinter from TMNT from 2003.~ I thought his voice sounded more experienced than all the others. Or at least when I watched it. It might just be me who felt that way, oh and I heard Uncle Iroh nice touch.~
Makes me think a master splinter series when he's young and the turtles are little would be awesome, imagine a young master splinter going savage on the Foot Clan Samurai Jack or Afro Samurai Style lol😁
After I watched this I can't stop imagining Splinter(in his incarnation as Hamato Yoshi) in a team with his own ninja mates in a similar way. Based on this: Oroku Saki could've been the Raph or/and Leo, Splinter - the Don + Miky and Tang Shen - the April + Don. Shredder as a proun to anger leader, Splinter as the smart jokester and Tang as the extra careful and skilled spy that has the intelligence to balance and add to the duo's fighting styles.
Growing up, when I wanted to study martial arts, my role models weren't the usual Chuck Norris characters or the Turtles themselves, but characters like this. Splinter from TMNT Master Po (the blind master from Kung Fu, not the animated panda) and of course Mr Miyagi.

I have tried to channel your anger, Raphael, but more remains. Anger clouds the mind.Turned inward, it is an unconquerable enemy. You are unique among your brothers, for you choose to face this enemy alone. But as you face it, do not forget them, and do not forget me. I am here, my son.. it's why I love movie splinter
I love every version of Splinter, even Rise
I really wish Splinter had been there too in that BATMAN VS TMNT movie so he could teach him some lessons himself about being more open and understanding to allies and how life & justice doesn't always have to come from the darkness.
9:00 Duuuude, good one!!!!!!
Trusting your Gut
If u have A problem with alcohol addiction try THIS drinking game:
Drink every Time Splinter's quote in The 2003 Series wasn't great

@@solidsnake8331 Splinter could teach him a few things.
The 2012 splinter is the best in my opinion, he’s way more serious and he fights a lot better.
Hiroyuki Sanada voice Master Splinter
Master Splinter was always the heart of the series.
He still is 😄

I can smell you.
Can you smell THE ROCK?
What you know is dangerous to your enemy
What you think you know is dangerous to you
Splinter, Iroh, and Oogway Team up would be unstoppable
I am compassionate not insane
"Compassionate"
Do Leatherhead next. His theme should be Slave by the Evolutionaries
The 2007 TMNT movie always brings back so many memories.
2012 Splinter was the best.
2003 one was better
They ultimately combined the best aspects of the 87 and 03 versions.
It's not real... he can speak human language because of the mutagen just like how the turtles can talk because of the mutagen
8:08 Mikey: Whaaat? LMAO!
I'm pretty sure Splinter could say 'rama lama ding ding hot dog hootenanny' and it would still come out calm, cool and dignified.
Master Splinter is a very wise and very sassy man! 😁
Bruh splinter is just one of them badass characters
25:34 Splinter’s words of wisdom on gambling and playing Gacha
5:44 Nice
26:00 He is…a doofus
Splinter said casually
My Place is with my Sons
I don’t know why but I felt more connected with Splinter from TMNT from 2003.~
I thought his voice sounded more experienced than all the others. Or at least when I watched it. It might just be me who felt that way, oh and I heard Uncle Iroh nice touch.~
Hero.
There is no such thing as failure, until you give up, that is when you fail.
Master Splinter 2012 is the best of them all, change my mind.
Master Splinter is one of my favorite tmnt character a ninjutsu teacher.
You cant fool me. this is just a life lesson speed run.
Interesting idea
i am LIVING for the lil amvs that play before these compilations. very nice touch
2003 Splinter is freaking awesome!!!!
3:39 Master Splinter and Uncle Iroh in one my 2020 is alot better now
3:44 ATLA fans be like: IROH!?
2012 splinter has THE BEST lines
I just love how Splinter can roast everyone in gently way and still can be insulting at the same time, in the same sentence 😂😂.
Growing up, when I wanted to study martial arts, my role models weren't the usual Chuck Norris characters or the Turtles themselves, but characters like this.
Splinter from TMNT
Master Po (the blind master from Kung Fu, not the animated panda)
and of course
Mr Miyagi.
