I’m a “semi-pro” singer - I get paid to do gigs weekly and it’s currently my main way of income, but I’ve noticed my voice is just very inconsistent across genres. I’m pretty decent at R&B and pop, but anytime I try to do rock, I get the rudest comments on the videos I share as reels on UA-cam. I have no idea how to make my voice sound better with rock. This is what brought me here lol
You have such a beautiful voice! When I watched you teach piano I would save your video just to hear you sing so that I can emulate your beautiful sound
I didn't like the sound of my singing voice at first but listening to it recorded for the last few years has gotten me use to it. As I get older, the quality of it is providing new challenges to singing as it is more raspier than it was when I was younger. I hope you all have some tips for that as well!
I remember the first time I heard my voice recorded, OMG I sounded like a kid (eventually learned that I was really nasal ;) Recording with a decent cardioid mic (like the Rode NT1-A) will catch a lot more nuances, definitely helped me like my voice more ;)
Good topic. Nice to know I'm not alone in not liking my own voice. It's a funny how protecting yourself while singing is what hurts your voice. The inhibitions get in the way.
great video!! all of my friends are musicians and they are pro, gigging musicians with straight up talent. i have always known I could be also, but since college, they intimidated me so much that I never stepped forward. first, I started getting better at guitar (10 years ago) and i can now play as well or better than most of them. but when it came to singing, THAT is a whole different barrel of awkward. the way i got past that was to think of my voice SOLEY as an instrument, EXACTLY like my guitar... it takes all of the shame, shyness, inferiority issues away!! you cannot argue the beauty of a C major 7 chord on guitar... and if your pitch is spot on with good tone, again, nobody can deny it!!
Thank you for this! I do sing but as you showed with my mouth closed 😐 (most of the time - through embarrassment 🤦♀). But what you said makes so much sense and has meaning. Thank you🙏
Wow you are so cute 😍 great video because i just started solo acoustic/electric guitar gigs and im older and not as good at singing as i was when I was younger, i took more chances at 25. My harmony pedal helps 😅 but thanks
Really helpful! Totally relate to this, and of course glad I'm not alone. Desperately trying to get better at singing, but still don't like how I sound! So maybe I'm not the best judge? Getting better at pitching at least. I play guitar and sing, but I'm also hoping to learn piano (and sing). Your videos are so helpful, encouraging and on point. Keep up the good work, and thanks a million for sharing. 😎😎😎
Same! I learned I was a 2nd soprano back in school, but I couldn’t believe it because I thought my voice sounded deep. I wanted to move to tenor, but my music teacher didn’t let me haha However, when I finally recorded myself (years later), my voice sounds much higher than what I’d thought. Which is a good thing because now I can reach notes I thought I could never reach and it boosted up confidence in myself.

Great advice! You’re so inspirational! - as someone who’s struggling with confidence in singing, you make me feel like I can actually do it!
YOU CAN DO IT :)!!!!!!!

Hey! I'm so glad you are enjoying hearing your voice :) I suggest the straw to help with that raspy sound! Also, remember to drink enough water :)
@@SingeoOfficial Thanks Lisa for the tip! 👍😊

I love these videos. So helpful. My neighbours need to brace themselves !
Hahaha they can think of it as free entertainment ;)
This is so true! When I sing, I track my voice with headphones to hear how I sound or record myself to get used to my voice and improve upon things!
Great idea!!!!!!!!

Oh hell, I can find you a list with a WHOLE lot more names on it than just mine who hate my voice...
My voice sounds significantly deeper when I hear myself talk when I'm talking but hearing it back, I think I sound super annoying and childlike lmao.

Great to know there are others like me
Even my voice is getting better millions of thanks to Lisa.
yes my problem was my fear of being too loud (i'm very shy), the second this wall was torn down my voice instantly sounded better
Off, I would like that she can hear me and then help me.

Hey Lisa, When I start singing I pronounce wrongly the lyrics can you please help me?
Try saying the words out loud before you sing them!
Sometimes you fail and then get up even stronger.
